1998 Lincoln Mark Viii Base **rare White On Black!!!!** on 2040-cars

Year:1998 Mileage:70500
Location:

Glenwood Landing, New York, United States

Glenwood Landing, New York, United States

This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION. Please, I ask that you not bid unless you fully intend on purchasing this vehicle.

I acquired this car in July of this year with 65,200 miles. Since then, it has traveled 5300 miles with ZERO mechanical problems. There are a couple of issues that I will go over later in this post. Lets start now with the positives!

  • I am the second owner of this Lincoln. The first owner resided in PA.
  • The air suspension is original, along with all front end components. It's tight as a drum on the highway and there is ZERO play in the steering. When I had a set of 18' polished Bullitts, this car handled like it was on rails! Truly remarkable what a set of tires could do for handling performance of such a large car! Not once has the suspension been a concern. It has stayed up for weeks on end while in the garage. It also lowers as it should on the highway when you are cruising at speeds in excess of 60 MPH, and raises itself when back onto local road speeds.
  • Air conditioning is in great working order as well. The car remained comfortably COOL even in temps reaching 115 degrees. YES, YOU READ CORRECTLY! We did have temps that reached 115 in NYC this past summer
  • Interior door panels, switches, CUP HOLDERS (I know lots of people ask about this one all the time), and other items look and work as they should.

Does it qualify for classic insurance?

  • YES IT DOES! I currently pay $120 a year for full coverage at $7000 in agreed value. I will refer you to the company that I do business with if you wish. I have 3 Lincolns currently with them!

What needs attention:

  • Tilt steering recently decided it wanted to work, then didn't want to work again. It is stuck in the downward position...This really didn't bother me because thats where I like it any time I drive. My fiance drove the car recently and we discovered it was not working. . THE TELESCOPIC PORTION DOES WORK!
  • The blend door actuator will need to be replaced in order to get heat. There is a work around for it I am told. However, I am FAR FROM HANDY so I have never attempted to fix it. It never really bothered me since I drive the car when the weather permits anyhow.
  • Chrome on the grille is peeling
  • Mechanic stated that the lower control arm bushings need to be done

This is a very clean original driver that you can enjoy without worrying about driving it anywhere. I've taken it a few times to Mohegan sun, and to Atlantic city. Wherever the car goes, it usually tends to get compliments!

In closing, I encourage you to see the car for yourself prior to bidding, and I am more than willing to go to any mechanics that are local. There is nothing for me to hide, she is a fantastic car!!!! We are selling this because we need to lease a new SUV for our baby coming up in May. We are excited, and unfortunately, toys need to go!

Please contact me at 718-865-7599 with any questions at all =)

Thanks, and happy bidding!!!!

Ford recalling 850,000 cars and SUVs for airbag issues

Fri, 26 Sep 2014

Ford has announced a major recall of 850,000 vehicles from model years 2013 and 2014 due to a problem with the "restraints control module."
According to Ford, a short circuit could develop in the module, causing the airbag warning light to illuminate. In more severe cases, dependent on where the short develops, the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners may not work in the event of an accident. The problems can be more wide-ranging than that, too, as systems that rely on information from the control module, such as the stability control can be affected.
With 850,000 vehicles affected, it's no surprise that some of Ford's volume leaders are covered. That includes the Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans, as well as the incredibly recall-prone Escape and the C-Max MPV.

Ford recalls 83k Taurus and crossover models for halfshaft issue

Fri, 15 Aug 2014

Ford and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have issued a recall for some 83,250 vehicles in the US, for an issue with halfshafts. More specifically a "halfshaft retention circlip" might not have been properly installed on affected vehicles, with the result being halfshafts that may move improperly or disengage completely from the linkshaft while driving. The NHTSA release also notes that the issue may occur "without prior warning" which obviously factors in to the timeliness of getting this checked.
Should the halfshaft disengage, a few troubling things could happen. If it occurs while driving, power from the engine will no longer be transmitted to the wheels. And, if the vehicle is parked without the parking brake applied after disengagement of the circlip, vehicles may roll away even if they're transmissions have been placed in "Park."
Affected vehicles are as follows: Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers from model years 2012 to 2014; Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS sedans from model years 2013 to 2014; Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles from model years 2013 to 2014.

Ex-GM VP LaNeve takes over Lincoln ad agency

Wed, 10 Apr 2013

Those of you that caught yesterday's op-ed about Lincoln will have heard already, but Mark LaNeve has taken the helm at Team Detroit. Once the North American vice president of sales, service and marketing for General Motors, LaNeve will now head up the agency that handles all of Ford advertising. LaNeve will also run the account for Lincoln. While at GM from 2001 to 2009, the exec oversaw ad campaigns like Cadillac's Breakthrough and sales initiatives like "Employee Pricing for Everyone."
He left in 2009 to join Allstate as chief marketing officer, oversaw the creation of the Mayhem ad spots and was moved into the role of VP of agency operations overseeing Allstate's 10,000 agents. He resigned from the insurer in February 2012 for personal reasons and joined Team Detroit in August 2012 as chief operating officer, in charge of satellite offices in New York and internationally. He replaces ex-CEO Cameron McNaughton, and will continue to hold the title of COO.
Lincoln is trying to get its 2013 back to rights after putting big dollar commercials for the 2013 MKZ on television then having production glitches preventing cars from getting to dealerships. With rumors of a relaunch in the works, it's no surprise LaNeve has been given the reins - and from here it looks like the brand is desperate for the kind of magic he's proved he can marshal. Perhaps he can start by calling a mulligan on the renaming exercise that gave us the hoary "Lincoln Motor Company" and go back to oh, say, "Lincoln." Then he can ask the product folks to get to work on the MKC concept...
