1985 Lincoln Towncar "limited Edition" (after Market) 75k. Original Miles on 2040-cars
North East, Maryland, United States
******************************************* Hello, Up for auction is a 1985 Lincoln Towncar I bought this car in 2005 from the second owner, the car was originally from Mass. Up until two years ago I kept this in a garage, but it's been stored outside since then, and the weather has taken a toll on it. I have never driven this in the winter weather, but it has sat through it. With this being said, starting with what I know is wrong and/or needs fixed. Bad: Original paint, starting to fade. Passenger front door, clear coat came off in a spot. Vinyl Top good condition, except a couple of cracks starting and around back window it's starting to pull away from window. (It doesn't leak) Surface rust starting to show on rear quarters. Rust on inside trunk lid doesn't show on outside. Small/Slow oil leak under car. There may still be more things as you look over the car that I didn't find. This car is sold as is. No return.
Now the Good: Original miles as of 11/24/13 (75444.k) This car runs strong shifts smooth. 5.0 302ci. Auto. Power everything (works) Looks great for it's age. Over the last five years she has won 3 trophy's, at car shows. When I bought the car I ran it through Maryland inspection and fixed everything that needed to be fixed even though I'm running Historic tags on it now. In 2005 I put new brakes, shocks, tires, exhaust "H" pipe, Rotors, plus much more. When I bought the car it had 63k. miles on it, so everything that I had put on the car might seem like it was "years" ago, It's actually not that bad considering it's only about 12k. miles old. If you have any questions, please ask. If you want to see and/or test drive again email to set up a time. ****************************************** The Lincoln is for sale locally. There is a reserve on the auction, and I will consider any reasonable offers, just email me your offer. Thank you for visiting our auction. ************************************************************************************************************************************ When you are looking at the pictures some of them show the car with a chrome swan on the hood, and/or Bull horns, theses are just props that I used during car shows, and they DO NOT come with the sale of the car.

NHTSA will investigate some Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ models for power steering issue
Tue, 07 Oct 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an investigation into the 2010-2012 Ford Fusion, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ, the 2012 MKZ Hybrid and 2011 Mercury Milan because the agency has hundreds of complaints of electric power steering failure in these models.
According to NHTSA's data, it has received 508 complaints of the power steering allegedly suddenly malfunctioning and resulting in increased effort to turn the wheel. In four incidents, these failures resulted in loss of control and crashes. According to the reports, in some cases a power steering warning message came on as the fault occurred, and other times the system restored itself by turning off and then restarting the vehicle. NHTSA said it has also received further field report data from Ford, but that information hasn't been publicly released yet.
For the moment, there isn't a recall for this failure on these models. NHTSA is just investigating them to "assess the scope, frequency and safety consequences of the alleged defect," and the agency says an estimated 938,000 vehicles could potentially be affected.
Ford rethinking vehicle launch strategy
Tue, 07 May 2013With a new boss at the helm, Ford is looking at new ways to improve its vehicle launches in North America to prevent recent issues that have popped up with models like the Lincoln MKZ, Ford Escape and Ford Fusion. Speaking with Automotive News, Ford's new president of the Americas, Joe Hinrichs, revealed a few ways the automaker plans to avoid early build issues such as the engine fires on certain 2013 Escape and Fusion models and months-long delays for customers to receive their MKZs.
It sounds like the root of the problems may have been Ford's relationship with suppliers compounded by the fact that the product surge came on the heels of the recent industry-crippling recession, and in the AN article, Hinrichs says improvements are being made to reduce problems during the launch of new or redesigned models. Three such improvements that were implemented during the first quarter of this year including more rigorous quality comparisons, better use of computer technology to catch major problems sooner and hiring engineers to work closer with suppliers.
Ford recalls 83k Taurus and crossover models for halfshaft issue
Fri, 15 Aug 2014Ford and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have issued a recall for some 83,250 vehicles in the US, for an issue with halfshafts. More specifically a "halfshaft retention circlip" might not have been properly installed on affected vehicles, with the result being halfshafts that may move improperly or disengage completely from the linkshaft while driving. The NHTSA release also notes that the issue may occur "without prior warning" which obviously factors in to the timeliness of getting this checked.
Should the halfshaft disengage, a few troubling things could happen. If it occurs while driving, power from the engine will no longer be transmitted to the wheels. And, if the vehicle is parked without the parking brake applied after disengagement of the circlip, vehicles may roll away even if they're transmissions have been placed in "Park."
Affected vehicles are as follows: Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers from model years 2012 to 2014; Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS sedans from model years 2013 to 2014; Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles from model years 2013 to 2014.
