2005 Lotus Elise

I bought the car 2/27/2012 with 15809 it now has 18532

I had been looking for a Lotus Elise for ever when this one came up locally I jump on it without checking into it I didn’t even know it had a salvage title until my credit union call and told me (my bad) but I was very excited to own a Lotus .

I did look at as much as I could when I went to look at it but there were 2 other people there looking at it also that's why I jumped on it. Don’t get me wrong it’s an awesome car.

I believe the car came from Florida and the place I bought it from did the body work

There was only fiberglass damage NO chassis damage at all

They didn’t do the best job in the world and the front very bottom was not done as you can see in the pictures but I see most Elise’s have the same problem

There is a scratch on the driver’s door that looks like they painted over it and one on the back upper trunk area

The passenger door window is tinted blue but not driver’s side. (I think that is where it might have had the damage but not sure also the paint on the door is very slightly different very hard to tell)

Also inside the Drives door where the hinge there are some scratches or cracks (not sure) but it’s not affecting structure at all and was never painted (see pictures)

Don’t get me wrong the car looks great

Power windows work great

No keys entry (there might be I just didn’t get the opener)

The paint it nice and shinny

Typical Lotus radio never picks up any stations CD player rocks

The leather boot around the shifter is lose at bottom

Hardtop is missing the back brackets I don’t know why I just never received them

(Lotusgarage.com about $40) I never use the top so never bothered

I put new tires on back front ones still have good tread

I have changed the oil twice with Royal Purple I don’t know why I did it twice I had big plans

Now for the Motor train

NEVER a drop of anything under car

NEVER loses a drop of anything

Car runs and drives GREAT everything is as tight as it was from the factory (only 18000 miles)

Front brakes just started squeaking I might change them before auction ends (AutoZone D109 $20.00)

No promises

My wife and I loved cruising around but we could only last about an hour before we got sore (yeah we’re old and fat LOL

I paid $25000 for the car and my reserve is much lower than that I just can’t handle the $600 a month payment anymore

The car is not perfect I tried to list everything I know so there are no surprises but on the same note the car drives AWESOME and looks good too

Funds will have to be creared before the title and car can be tranfored I still owe the credit union but they have the title on hand

Any questions PLEASE ask

And it's actually in Mentor , Ohio 44060 5 minutes away from 44077 (I moved)

Also someone asked for a warranty. this is something I can not offer I have described the car the best I can and it does run fantastic.

I've only run HIGH TEST gas and its been stored inside never even seen rain since I've had it.

Lotus to move immediately forward with new variants rather than new models

Mon, 22 Jul 2013

It took 1.5 years, but a DRB-Hicom managing director told Malaysia's Business Times that the company has "cleaned up" the situation at Lotus from its finances to its marketing and image. The clean-up job we're most interested in, the product portfolio, will be demonstrated by financial investment in a three-year program of "variants based on existing products - variants with improved technology, improved performance."
You'll notice mention of the word "variants" three times but no mention of the phrase "new models." We knew that with the death of the five-new-model turnaround plan dreamed up by ex-Lotus CEO Dany Bahar DRB-Hicom said there'd only be three distinct lines - which is the current number - but during Lotus' trouble-plagued 2012 it sold just 80 cars all year, and for a tense spell it really wasn't clear if DRB-Hicom would commit to even keeping Lotus alive, much less investing in it.
It's not clear how much is being put into in the three-year program of offshoot models like the 345-horsepower Exige S Roadster (pictured), but it might be fair to say this is where Lotus' revival really begins, and does so with baby steps. Autocar reports that DRB-Hicom has already put 100 million pounds into the English carmaker, and as its issues were worked through Lotus has sold almost as many cars in the first five months of this year as it did all of last. That has not only convinced the Malaysian minders to throw more money its way, but the UK's business secretary has also approved a 10-million-pound investment into Lotus through the Regional Growth Facility program.

Kimi Raikkonen to miss rest of season for back surgery

Sun, 10 Nov 2013

Formula One drivers keep themselves in peak physical condition, such are the demands placed on them in order to do what they do. But otherworldly as their capabilities may be, they're still human, and that means they get injured or sick just like the rest of us.
Case in point: Kimi Raikkonen and the announcement made today by Lotus that he'll have to sit out the rest of the season in order to undergo back surgery. That means Lotus will have to find a replacement driver for the last two races in Austin and Brazil while Kimi has and recovers from the operation.
Though we wouldn't debate the legitimacy of Kimi's condition or the necessity to rectify it, the timing is sure to raise some eyebrows. Raikkonen has been at the center of a pay dispute with Lotus, and while the situation was reportedly resolved, his decision to undergo what is said to be elective surgery at this point in the season (as opposed to waiting until its end) raises some questions as to his commitment to the team he is leaving and his team's financial commitments to him in turn.

Lotus names Jean-Marc Gales as new CEO

Sun, 04 May 2014

It's been about two years since DRB-Hicom took over Proton, and through it Lotus. One of its first courses of action was to fire the existing CEO, Dany Bahar, and proceed to scrap most if not all of his (arguably over-) ambitious plans. In his place they put one of their own - Aslam Farikullah - as Chief Operation Officer, but now the Malaysian-owned British automaker has attracted an industry heavyweight to lead it into the future.
That heavyweight is Jean-Marc Gales. The British- and German-educated Luxembourgian has spent the past couple of years running the European Association of Automotive Suppliers (CLEPA), but may be better known for his previous posting as CEO of PSA Peugeot Citroën between 2009 and 2012, during which time he introduced the Citroën DS line, amongst others, and increased the French automaker's sales. Before PSA he worked for Daimler, General Motors and Volkswagen.
As the new Chief Executive Officer of Group Lotus, Gales will face the difficult task of growing a business based on three models - the Elise, Exige and Evora - that date back to 1996, 2000 and 2009, respectively. Whether he'll push for new models like his predecessor did remains to be seen, but he'd be wise to learn from Bahar's mistakes and avoid overextending what has always been a relatively small automaker.
