This is to deter tire kickers, I highly suggest you come and take a look at the car in person before bidding if possible. Also, I will take you for a test drive to show you how the car performs and sounds, runs etc... but, I can't let anyone drive the car before the purchase unless you want to take it for a spin right before you hand over the cashiers check and I sign the title into your name. Sorry, I just don't want a bunch of people who just want to take a joy ride and drive a Lotus.

Now about the car:

It is a 2006 Lotus Elise which has 50,000.00 miles on the chassis and about 16,000.00 on the engine. The engine was replaced at around 34,000 miles because of an oil line failure. These oil lines were part of a recall that was subsequently fixed on this car after the engine was completely replaced at a Lotus dealership. It has a custom Larini exhaust, catalytic converter was removed and has a Fujita intake. It has a Difflow diffuser on it and I purchased and installed the rear clam hinge kit from BOE fabrication. Along with the rear clam hinge kit I installed a Braille racing battery. The rear clam hinge kit makes this car a breeze to work on since it opens the entire rear clam of the car for easy access to the engine bay. It has both the hard top and the soft top. The tires have probably 70 percent of the tread on them. Brakes and clutch are in excellent shape. I also purchased a custom ECU for the car from BOE called Fastworks which basically converts the stock ECU into a fully tunable ECU.

This car is in excellent mechanical shape.

The AC blows good and cold. Remember this car was built for racing at the track but, it also is comfortable to drive around town. I bought this car from a guy in Texas and drove it back to North Carolina in a single day. I didn't have any problems with back aches or anything like that. I'm 6 feet tall and the car is comfortable for me to drive. The guy I bought it from was probably 6'2".

Oil has been changed on time with synthetic oil only and recently replaced the serpentine belt.

The car isn't perfect which is why the starting price is lower. I would say the car is an 8 out of 10 cosmetically outside and a 9 out of 10 on the inside. If you're looking for perfection then move on to another car because this isn't it. If you are looking for a car that looks stunning from 5 feet away then this car is for you.

I am the third owner of the car. I've had the car for a little over two years and it has been fun to drive.

I'm getting rid of it because I'm planning on building a home in the foothills of North Carolina and I will no longer need this car.

EVO "2012 Car of the Year: The Track Battles" is a sports car salmagundi

EVO has come out with another gotta-watch-it video, throwing its 2012 Car of the Year contestants around the UK's 1.5-mile Blyton Park track. It's actually a 15-minute teaser for the full-length DVD detailing the magazine's Car of the Year selection, but the tease is worth every penny free second.
Tiff Needell and sports car racer Richard Meaden handle the wheel duties, the two driving five pairs of sports cars: Lotus Exige S vs. Porsche Boxster S, Morgan Three-Wheeler vs. Toyota GT86, BMW M135i vs. Porsche 911, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series vs. Alpina B3 GT3, the marquee event pits the McLaren MP4-12C vs. the Pagani Huayra. After a head-to-head lap with commentary during drifts, Meaden takes each car out to set a representative lap time.

Lotus responds to rumors of demise, promises 2016 MY Evora

It's not been a great week for Lotus. Seven days ago, the UK-based automaker laid off a quarter of its workforce, terminating "up to 325 jobs." And then, just a few days ago, it was reported that the company would be ending US sales of its well-received Evora due to the expiration of an airbag exemption. The Evora is the only vehicle Lotus sells in the US, meaning its end effectively removes the brand from the market.
That was apparently a bridge too far, though, as the company has issued defiant statement, claiming it'll be back, in both the US and Canada, for model year 2016, with an air-bag compliant Evora.
"I know that this will be welcome news to our thousands of owners and fans in North America, but the reality is that there was never any intention to leave. The North American market is vitally important for us and we intend to expand our dealer network and grow our sales volumes in the future," Jean-Marc Gales, CEO of Group Lotus said in a statement. "I would like to thank our fantastic Lotus following for their support over the years and remind them that we are working on many exciting products for the future. We will continue to explore our core values on how to make a sports car better by making it faster, lighter and maintain the pure driving experience."

Former CEO Bahar files $10.6M suit against Lotus

File this one under "not surprising in the least." Fired Lotus CEO Dany Bahar is reportedly suing his former employers for some $10.6 million, claiming that the automaker and its Malaysian owner, DRB, broke the law when they dismissed him. According to a report by Bloomberg Businessweek, DRB and Lotus will defend themselves in court rather than settling, including filing a countersuit against the former top executive.
Bahar, 40, was canned on June 7, about two weeks after Lotus suspended him pending an investigation into his conduct. The report cites a Kuala Lumpur stock exchange filing as its source of the information; the filing also indicates that DRB has decided against selling Lotus, despite continuing losses.
