The fastest and finest car I've ever owned. So fast you'll need to improve your driving skills to take this car to its limits, and this car will help teach you how. I must say that it is much more of a machine than I have learned to handle. Walks away from similar cars like Ferrari at half the purchase cost and at less maintenance cost too. The twin turbo engine even has low end torque so you can drive it like a normal car if you wish. The composite body will last a lifetime (never rust) and the undercarriage is stiff, rugged and also a work of art. This car is actually more stable the faster you go. Be careful it temps and teases you to double any speed limit, highway or tight curvey road.

I have the owners manual and sales brochures along with two keys, and of course the title in my hand. All maintenance has been performed as scheduled (or sooner), including timing belts. Tires are very good with lots of tread remaining. Cosmetically she is beautiful with only few minor nics in the paint. The one exception is holes drilled in the front bumper to attach a front license plate (stupid/why?). I'm told by Lotus that all transmissions leak a little and this is no exception, no matter how much money I've thrown at it; it is so never enough to add fluid between changes though. Brakes are fantastic, the transmission shifts up and down smoothly and I can see no repairs in this car's near future. I'm a fanactic when it comes to proper maintenance and everything must work like it was designed to, so it does. You will be very pleased with this car. A unique car for a unique owner.

Lotus to receive $16M government grant

Mon, 25 Nov 2013

Troubled British automaker Lotus is getting a second infusion of cash following a 100-million-pound ($161.5-million) investment by its parent company DRB-Hicom that was made in August. The substantially smaller investment, a mere 10 million pounds ($16.2 million), comes from the British government's Regional Growth Fund.
The fund, which is part of a 3-billion-pound ($4.8-billion) fund to spur economic growth in the UK, will allow Lotus to invest even further in research and development as it seeks to reinvent its lineup of lightweight sports cars. The fund will also allow the UK-based outfit to provide further training for its new crop of employees.
"This grant is part of a wider strategy for Lotus created to ensure we thrive and grow. We are responding to increased global demand for our cars and engineering consultancy services and this grant will help to position Lotus as the forefront of global automotive innovation," said Aslam Farikullah (shown above with UK Business Secretary Vince Cable MP), the chief operating officer at Lotus.

The Stig bungees a Lotus F1 car in Durban

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

Remember a couple of months ago when a mischievous Stig broke into the Lotus racing headquarters in Enstone and made off with an F1 car? Well, now we know where he went with it.
In this humorous clip from Top Gear, the tamed racing driver in the white suit disembarks with Pastor Maldonado's Lotus-Renault E22 (not the E21 he took from the team's headquarters, eagle-eye viewers might notice) in Durban, South Africa, and takes it to Moses Mabhida Stadium for the Top Gear Festival. After having some fun on a dirt bike, a chrome Mustang drift car and a few other curiosities, he hooks it up to a bungee cord and jumps off a tower behind the wheel.
Now we're not quite convinced they actually did this and that it wasn't all CGI, but it's still worth a watch and a laugh.

Stock Miata beats bunch of high-powered cars in wet 1/4-mile drag race

Thu, 06 Jun 2013

When is a stock, 167-horsepower Mazda MX-5 Miata quicker than a Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lotus Elise and a Porsche 911? When it's raining. Sort of.
Mazda Canada arranged a unique drag race to show off the fact that the Miata's optional power retractable folding hardtop can go from top-down to top-up in just 12 seconds flat. In this video, all six cars line up for a drag race, and it starts to rain (well, sort of - but you'll have to watch the video all the way to the end to see what we mean). The green flag is waved, and the timer starts as soon as the convertibles begin to put their tops up. But because the Miata's roof mechanism gets the car's roof back up a full 5.1 seconds quicker than the second-place car, the Mazda gets a serious advantage off the line for the actual drag race.
It's a fun video. And while we've spoiled the results (come on, the video was uploaded by Mazda, you knew the Miata was going to win), be sure to see how it all unfolds, below.
