Listed for Sale is my Beautiful 1989 Lotus Esprit Turbo SE with only 9,239 Original Miles. This Rare Automobile is in like New Condition inside and out and in my opinion " one of the nicest around ". Words and photos can only begin to say how Beautiful this Car shows in person. Finished in the very disired Color combination of Bright Red with Charcoal Leather with Red Stitching and matching Lotus Logo Custom Euro floor Mats. Looks unreal ! This is a true Show piece. Car has been meticulously Maintaned and Pampered and it shows. The exterior Paint is as smooth as Glass & has always been Professionaly Detailed and always parked and covered inside since New. There are no blemishes on the Car and all the Rubber Seals inner and outer show no sign at all of wear of any sort. Even the Glass is OEM and Crystal clear. This Car was kept inside and treated as a true Collector Car should be. The Car has a Copy of it's Original Window sticker, the second Owners Purchase Order Papers and all it's Original Books. The Original Spare Wheel & Tire have never been out of the Car. It also has the Original Tool Kit and is even sitting on it's Original Goodyear Eagle ZR50 Tires !!!!! Also the removable Top Cover and Wind Deflector are even still there ! Mechanically, the Engine and Transmission run flawlessly. It runs and drives with no issues at all. The Turbo Charged 4 Cylinder Engine provides great Power and starts right up and runs as if it was new. Driving down the road there are no squeaks or rattles. The Car was completely Serviced ( 2 Months prior to taking possession ) in 20011 and has only traveled 1K miles since. All Mechanical Components are up to spec. Lotus to layoff a quarter of its workforce
Thu, 18 Sep 2014Lotus has issued a press release to day, wherein it indicates that a "need to both reshape its organisation and to reduce costs" may result in the loss of "up to 325" jobs. That's a fairly significant number of layoffs for any company, but considering that Lotus currently employs 1,215 people (per the company's bio in the same release), it could mean a full 25-percent of the automaker's workers could soon be sharpening their resumes.
CEO Jean-Marc Gales says in the statement that Lotus has "worked very hard to avoid the need to make this proposal," but admits that it is now "essential" to the future of the company. The chief indicates that post-restructuring, he expects Lotus to be a "leaner" and "more competitive" organization, one which - and we can all see a little silver lining here - is focused on "producing class-leading sports cars and innovative engineering."
The 325-job number appears to be soft at this point, with the statement indicating that some negotiation about which and how many posts will be cut is yet to come. Further, the company may "redeploy" some employees, and may even recruit new blood for "key roles," all with an eye toward running the strongest possible team going forward. Though, we imagine that the recruitment bit won't fly well for those employees getting the sack.
Lotus slated to stop selling Evora in US
Mon, 22 Sep 2014It's been three years now since Lotus stopped selling the Elise and Exige in North America, leaving the Evora as its only model available Stateside. But according to the latest from Car and Driver, even that model is on its way out.
The problem reportedly comes down to air bags. Lotus was granted a temporary exemption from fitting the latest-generation smart airbags to the Evora, but that exemption is set to expire at the end of the year. And once it does, Lotus apparently has no intention of developing and fitting the proper equipment to allow it to continue selling the Evora in the United States.
Once the Evora is gone from our market, Lotus will be reduced to selling only track-bound versions of the Elise and Exige in the US, so the prospect of actually buying a new Lotus and driving off the dealer lot will vanish into thin air.
Lotus C-01 motorcycle rumored to get 200-hp V-twin engine
Sun, 12 Jan 2014Back in June, Lotus announced it was getting into the motorcycle business. Or, we should say, Kodewa and the Holzer Group are getting into the motorcycle business, and have acquired the rights to use the Lotus name. One way or another, we're now receiving word on some of the specs we can expect from the prototype dubbed C-01.
The Lotus motorcycle is being designed by Daniel Simon, the automotive futurist who has penned, among other things, the light-cycles for Tron: Legacy and the livery on the LMP2 racer Kodewa also fields under the Lotus name. So you know it's going to look pretty awesome, but what will make it go?
According to Visor Down, the C-01 is being tested with a V-twin engine sourced from an undisclosed supplier that produces 170 horsepower in stock trim but has been tuned to produce nearly 200 hp in Lotus trim. A pair of prototypes - one with carbon-fiber bodywork and one without - have already undergone several thousand kilometers of testing, and are said to be handling "very well."
