1970 lotus europa S2 project:

you are looking at a complete 1970 europa with a very large supply of 1969 europa parts.

i purchased the car on 5/28/2013 from a man in southern california.

apparently he had a 1969 lotus europa that he wrecked and then he purchased this car in 1982 and installed the engine from the '69 europa.

he told me that the engine (renault R-16) was rebuilt and has 9000 miles on it.

the amazing part is that he owned the car for over 30 years and from what he told me and what his neighbor confirmed, the car sat in his garage for the entire time !!!

he purchased the car, changed the engine and started restoring the body for paint and then it just sat in his garage......

i intended on restoring the car for historic racing but i have become involved in a large project that requires all of my resources and garage space so it must go.

the car needs a restoration, but it is complete and comes with all the parts he took off the wrecked '69.

this car does not have any rust that i could find.

body is in good shape (the guy filled the bumper holes and the door handles) i have the original

all the glass is good

great seats

the master cylinder is missing, but other than that everything looks complete.

the extra parts list is extensive:

2 complete engines
2 complete transmissions
extra electronics, gauges, lights
complete front and rear suspension
front and rear brakes
cooling system
some interior pieces from the '69
trunk box
complete passenger side door
front air dam
bumpers
gas tank and sending unit,
starter, alternators, distributors, carburetor,
heater unit,
hub caps
misc nuts and bolts

On Dec-02-13 at 21:49:42 PST, seller added the following information:

shipping the car: the car rolls easily and i am willing to box up the parts fof shipping rust: this car looks to be rust free. i say this because i can not find any rust on the frame or any other parts other than slight surface rust.

On Dec-03-13 at 21:22:04 PST, seller added the following information:

I WAS ASKED ABOUT THE OWNERSHIP HISTORY: i believe i know all of the ownership history with the exception of the name of the original owner. anyway, here is what i know. owner one lived in illinois, purchased the car in late 1971 owned the car until 1978 when he sold it to a man also in illinios who owned the car until 1981, he apparently painted the car silver with a blue stripe and ultimately sold it to a guy who lived in tustin california, i spoke to him and he says he owned the car for about a year and then he sold it to the guy from orange california in 1982. i bought it from the 4th owner, that makes me the fifth owner.

Elise Time Attack could be most extreme Lotus yet

Mon, 07 Jul 2014

The Lotus Elise has given birth to some seriously fast and varied machinery. Aside from Lotus' own models like the Exige, 2-Eleven, 340R and Europa, electric vehicles like the Tesla Roadster, not to mention the never-released Dodge Circuit and Detroit Electric SP:01, are all based on the Elise's platform. As were/are the Melkus RS 2000, the Opel Speedster/Vauxhall VX220 and the Hennessey Venom GT. But this could be the most extreme use of the lightweight chassis yet.
This Series 1 Elise has been built by one performance-obsessed Brit with a single purpose: to compete in the UK's Time Attack championship. For those unfamiliar, Time Attack is something like a rally or a hillclimb event, only it takes place on a racing circuit. Each vehicle goes out on the track by itself and sets the best time it can, without needing to worry about other competitors until the finish line is crossed and it's the next racer's turn. That's what drove Lee to modify his Lotus so thoroughly, with more wings, diffusers, flaps and carbon fiber than a Boeing factory. Check it out in the video below.

Lotus announces Exige V6 Cup racer

Mon, 20 Aug 2012

The Lotus Exige is once of the most focused race cars that you can purchase on the market today, but for those individuals who desire to track the mid-engined racer, Lotus has released its latest no-frills, all-go racecar: the Exige V6 Cup.
The Exige Cup features a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 making 346 horsepower, enabling the 2,380-pound race car to get from zero to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds. Power is put to the road with the help of Lotus Dynamic Performance Management, which allows for Touring, Sport and Race settings for the engine.
The Exige V6 Cup also features revised aerodynamics in the front fascia and rear diffuser, and it rides on a fully adjustable suspension that reaches the road with special wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo tires.

Lotus team out of Le Mans, full driver list published

Tue, 20 May 2014

We can scratch off one more car from the list for the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Lotus T129 LMP1 car has been dropped from the entry list of the 82nd running of the historic race, with organizers citing "a lack of preparation" as the reason. On a more positive note, the list of 168 drivers in 56 vehicles has been officially published for the June 14 race.
Like the Lotus team currently in Formula One, the Lotus T129 uses the iconic British brand's name and colors but is actually built by a separate company. It previously ran a Lola chassis in the LMP2-class (pictured above). The Le Mans organizers claim the car will likely be on display during the 24-hour race, but it won't make it's competition debut until the World Endurance Championship round at the Circuit of the Americas in September. The T129 is being replaced by an Oreca 03 chassis with Nissan power in the LMP2 class, entered by Millennium Racing.
The Lotus' retirement came as the teams had to send in the names of the three drivers nominated to race each car. This year there are racers from 26 countries with the most coming from France (39), Britain (29), the US (17) and Italy (15). The latest tally of entries breaks down to 9 LMP1s, 19 LMP2s, 9 LM GTE Pros, 18 LM GTE Ams and the Nissan ZEOD RC as the experimental Garage 56 entry.
