I drove this Lotus today 10/25/2013, this Elan has incredible pick up and power.

This listing may end at any time due to the fact I am listing this locally as well. Additionally, If you want to stop by and see the car I can set an appointment with you. I will also be glad to drive you in the car.

There are an estimated 439 Elan's left in the U.S.

This has been garaged since being purchased.

The top is in good condition and works fine.

This has been a great car. I'm changing my focus. It has served its purpose in my life but it time to move on.

When I purchased this from my friend, I had the transmission looked at. I had the linkage rebuild and while it was pulled I had the clutch done as well.

I put on a cold air intake and had the front brakes are replaced within the last 15,000 miles along with the front rotors. I have the old rotors. I have new brake pads for the rear. Additionally, I have the original intake system and the horn which was removed for the new cold air intake system. There is a trickle charger on the battery. A car cover is included. The tires are in great shape with about 10,000 miles on them, Yokohama S-Drives.

I have tried to think of everything. If I can find them there are toy cars and a shop manuals which will go with the car.

Here is some history on the Lotus Elan M100, launched in 1989, was a two-seater, convertible sports car designed by Peter Stevens and produced by Lotus whilest under the ownership of General Motors.

The M100 Elan’s cornering performance was undeniable. On release the Elan was described by Autocar magazine as the quickest point to point car available.

The Elan M100 has made its mark in history as arguably the finest handling front wheel drive car ever made.  Altogether 3,855 Elans were built between November 1989 and July 1992, including 129 normally aspirated (non-turbo) cars. 559 of them were sold in the US.

The launch price was lb17,850 for the normally aspirated version and lb19,850 for the SE turbocharged version. A limited edition of 800 Series 2 (S2) M100 Elans were produced by Bugatti between June 1994 and September 1995 when it was discovered that enough surplus engines were available to make this possible. All series 2 cars were turbocharged.

The M100 Elan uses a 1,588 cc DOHC Isuzu 4XE1 engine which produces 162 bhp and a 0-60 time of 6.5s and a top speed of about 150 mph.

Lotus responds to rumors of demise, promises 2016 MY Evora

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

It's not been a great week for Lotus. Seven days ago, the UK-based automaker laid off a quarter of its workforce, terminating "up to 325 jobs." And then, just a few days ago, it was reported that the company would be ending US sales of its well-received Evora due to the expiration of an airbag exemption. The Evora is the only vehicle Lotus sells in the US, meaning its end effectively removes the brand from the market.
That was apparently a bridge too far, though, as the company has issued defiant statement, claiming it'll be back, in both the US and Canada, for model year 2016, with an air-bag compliant Evora.
"I know that this will be welcome news to our thousands of owners and fans in North America, but the reality is that there was never any intention to leave. The North American market is vitally important for us and we intend to expand our dealer network and grow our sales volumes in the future," Jean-Marc Gales, CEO of Group Lotus said in a statement. "I would like to thank our fantastic Lotus following for their support over the years and remind them that we are working on many exciting products for the future. We will continue to explore our core values on how to make a sports car better by making it faster, lighter and maintain the pure driving experience."

Race Recap: For the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix, NASCAR comes to the principality

Tue, 28 May 2013

Lots of contact, debris cautions, trips into the wall, full-course yellows and a red flag - these are the kinds of racing terms you unbox when you want to have a conversation about NASCAR... or the Formula One grand prix of Monaco. In this case we're not talking about the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte, we're talking about 78 laps in the South of France that even featured a fallen camera cable just like that stock-car race.
This year, Mercedes-AMG Petronas drivers treated their chassis' like busses instead of F1 cars, Romain Grosjean treated his Lotus like a battering ram, Sergio Perez kept sticking his McLaren's nose in places and eventually got it smacked, and maybe the size of the drivers' mirrors should be changed instead of the tires as there were almost as many firsts as there were crashes. Plenty of F1 fans wish Monaco were removed from the calendar, yet even though it doesn't specialize in traditional thrills, that doesn't mean nothing happens during the parade through - and into - the barriers.

Lotus honors F1 efforts with limited-edition Exige LF1

Tue, 10 Jun 2014

Lotus has announced a new, special edition of its hardcore Exige for customers in the UK and Europe. Limited to just 81 units (for the Lotus Formula One team's 81 victories), the new Exige LF1 is the ultimate accessory for fans of the British manufacturer's Formula One efforts.
Befitting of a car inspired by the Lotus E22, this particular Exige is finished in the team's traditional black and gold colors, complete with red accents inspired by the F1 racer. The exterior is further enhanced with unique badges that proclaim the LF1's limited-edition status. Matte gold wheels have also been fitted, just like this Lotus' big brother.
This isn't purely a paint-and-stickers job, though. Lotus has also touched up the cabin, offering up black leather and "technical fabric," complete with gold contrast stitching and piping. The seat backs and floor mats feature embroidered logos, while an individually numbered, carbon-fiber plaque sits on the LF1's dash.
