1974 Lotus Super 7 Seven
A Beautiful Modern Recreation

Professionally built sports car... in authentic British Racing Green & Lotus Yellow livery, set up in authentic right hand drive...in the 1990’s by: Conley Classics, an established British tuning, specialty & parts shop in Warwichshire, England. The project was assembled at Conley using mostly authentic Super 7 components form Triumph, Caterham, Lotus, Smith, Connolly leather. MAterials are of the finest quality Alloy, Fiber, Leather, steel. The total miles since the restoration and rebuilding has only 600 miles.

The overall Lotus Super 7 was built to look vintage in every respect. At the same time have enough room, updated mechanicals, electricals, etc to be a regular driver.

Body is near mint, factory correct looking, with very minor blemishes around hood form being removed. Paint and the alloy finish are stunning! Fitment is excellent, interior is an alloy monocoque covered in Connolly leather seats, vinyl and carpet.

Mechanical are Spitfire donor, 4 cylinder motor… tunes with header (nice throaty sound) and Weber performance carburetor (very peppy and quick), upgraded ignition, radiator, starter, brakes all new and upgraded. Starts, first turn of the key (I know, it’s British… Still no smoke or leaks!) Shifts smoothly in all 4 gears up and down. Brakes work excellent can lock up all 4.

Electricals and smith gauges were used form a donor Triumph Spitfire. Comes with full wiring harness made to match steering column, dash and gauges. Turn signals, lights, wipers,  ignition and more all work as factory originals.

5 Wheels and tires are all new and hold the road well. Lights, lenses, chrome and badg’ing are all in beautiful condition.

Size wise: I am 6 feet 2” tall, weigh 215 pounds and I fit nicely into this Lotus. The leg room is very good with a little extra for those taller. Seatbelts are modern 3 way, easy in and easy out.

She is NOT a race car that is all messed up and not legal. This Lotus recreation is very well sorted, detailed and set up as a comfortable road 2 seat sports car. Excellent for touring, dating, cruising, etc.

This car was a trade in for one of our restored Land Cruisers. We did not build it or import it. Still she comes with a Clear US title to be left open for you to fill in the numbers.

I know you have questions. Please do not hesitate to give me a Jingle to discuss 313.4143540. the car is available for inspection, test driving and sale in Flagstaff, AZ.

James Bond Lotus submarine sells in London for $966,560

Wed, 11 Sep 2013

With the $966,560 sale ($863,000 plus a 12-percent buyer's premium) of the white 1977 Lotus Esprit S1 submarine used in the 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me, we now know "the Roger Moore discount."
Recall that Sean Connery's silver 1964 Goldfinger Aston Martin DB5 was sold by RM Auctions in London in 2010 for $4.6 million. Three years later, the same auction company in the same city has sold the aforementioned Lotus for just under $1 million.
An unscientific poll of those in the room showed that people preferred Sean Connery's Bond to Roger Moore's by a rate of four to one. And thus it translated into the bidding for their respective cars. No word on the identity of the buyer or his plans for what is, in fact, a working submarine.

Lotus bows out of Paris Motor Show

Mon, 16 Jul 2012

The plan put forth by former Lotus CEO Dany Bahar was to explode the British brand into the high-dollar sports car segment and directly challenge its marquee names. The first explosion came with the surprise introduction of five concepts at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. What has continued to surprise, though, is that the explosions haven't stopped: parent company Proton has had troubles leading to a reworking of its Formula One involvement, its IndyCar effort has had a rough ride, Proton's sale to Malaysian conglomerate DRB Hicom led to a production stoppage, and while the company was reassured that it wouldn't be sold, Bahar was shown the door - along with four of those Paris concepts, as far as we can tell. Yet the company is still making highly regarded cars and going racing.
So it shouldn't be all that surprising that, according to a report in Car and Driver, Lotus won't be attending this year's Paris Motor Show at all. Lotus didn't have much to show off at the Geneva Motor Show or the New York Show as all development was halted for two months, and the new corporate owner and new CEO installed by that owner are still working through the details of its niche English property. We will hope this is nothing more than a step in the reorganization, and look forward to seeing the Hethel firm again in Los Angeles or Detroit.

Lotus C-01 motorcycle shows its carbon-fiber face

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

Well, this isn't exactly what we were expecting. The images you see above come from Motorcycle News in the UK and are apparently official renderings of what the upcoming Lotus C-01 motorcycle will look like. As you can see, it's sort of a power cruiser, with a raked-out front end and extremely wide rubber out back.
Power will reportedly come from a liquid-cooled V-twin engine sourced from KTM, similar to the one used in the Austrian's brand's own RC8R, but tuned to produce around 200 horsepower. It appears that the powertrain and all its related necessities will be housed in a carbon fiber monocoque (whether the bodywork serves as a stressed member or not, we can't say) in a traditional-looking black (really, exposed carbon fiber weave) and yellow color scheme.
From the looks of these renderings, the C-01 might be intended as a competitor for the Ducati Diavel and ought to be very quick in a straight line. We're not so sure that's what a motorcycle wearing the Lotus badge should be, even if its builders are only using the marque's name under license, but we're looking forward to seeing the final result in production trim.
