This Italian Beauty runs like a race horse and gets a lot of attention. The lines of the car and the exhaust note are simply hypnotic! The F1 system shifts flawlessly and is just a blast to drive. Life begins when you press the blue Start button! The Brembo brakes will prepare you for any turn and the 400hp motor will rocket you out of it. The heated sport seats will keep you locked in place as you whip this car through turns. The smooth V8 will throw you against the seat...be ready when you step on the gas pedal!

A word about maintenance:
As any educated purchaser of Italian cars knows, maintenance is key to these vehicles. We have the records to prove we have maintained the car! (Before purchasing any exotic car, always ask to see the maintenance records!) This 2005 Maserati Gran Sport has been expertly maintained and just had a major service completed this month by Exotic Car Specialties of VA. (Feel free to search the Maserati Life forum to find out more about Josh and the crew at ECS of VA - They are excellent mechanics.) The valve cover gaskets (including spark plug seals and Variator Solenoids have been replaced as one of the valve cover gaskets was just starting to leak oil. This job alone is over $1,700. A major service on it just completed this month was over $1,300. The car is ready for a great driving season and will only need a minor service next!

Why we are selling the Gran Sport:
We had purchased the car a few years ago from Ferrari & Maserati of Washington. The car, as truly awesome as it is, has become a garage queen and my schedule regretfully does not give me time to drive it much anymore. We have never taken the car out in poor weather conditions.

Aftermarket options & Misc. Items:
The car does have aftermarket window tint and a clear bra on it. Dealers today are charging around $1,500 to put a clear bra on one of these cars. After seeing how well bugs clean up off the clear bra and the lack of chips in the paint because of it, I have become a believer in the clear bra. It has done an excellent job protecting the front of the car. We also have all of the keys (including the valet key) and the books to go with the car.

Here are the things I think you should know in the interest of full disclosure:
The front license plate holder did break on a low dip in the road. There were NO scratches on the bumper as the license plate holder took the hit. There is also a small dent on top of the right fender that can only be seen from certain angles. The front tires are a little choppy as there was a delay from when I put them on to when I had the car aligned (the alignment is good now.) There is still a lot of tread on the tires, but they are a little noisy. The window tint is inline with Virginia state law (50% on the front doors and 35% on the back windows). You may need to change the tint depending on your state's laws.  There is a small scratch on the left headlight where something had flown up on the highway and scraped the lens. The lens is not cracked and few people even notice the scratch. Finally, there are no cup holders in the car thus making Starbuck's runs a little challenging. Other than those things, everything else on the car is in excellent condition. I am happy to send more pictures of specific things if you like.

Shipping and Payment:
Shipping is fully the responsibility of the buyer. The car will be available for shipping once full payment has been received and funds have cleared. We will deliver the car anywhere within 50 miles of Shenandoah County, Virginia for free if needed for shipping. We do recommend using an enclosed shipping carrier to protect the vehicle. A non-refundable $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction closing and full payment is due within 7 calendar days of the auction closing. If full payment is not received within 7 calendar days after the auction closes, the buyer forfeits the deposit. The car currently has a lien on it. Therefore, it will take me a few weeks to get you the title.

This is our clearest look yet at the next Maserati Quattroporte

Fri, 02 Nov 2012

The best look we've had at the next Maserati Quattroporte so far was found in patent drawings that could have substituted for a whole lot of other cars. But seen here is a more useful glimpse, courtesy of someone on the lookout in Italy who caught a prototype in a skin-hugging wrap.
Maserati has apparently gone with the Charles Eames philosophy on the redesign: "The details are not details. They make the design." The overall line is familiar - not such a bad thing even on this 10-year-old sedan - but the detailing appears to have been refined and made sleeker. The taillights themselves should make for an especially interesting feature if the camo'ed car can be trusted.
The next Quattroporte is predicted to be roughly 450 pounds lighter than the current car, and underhood grunt is expected to come from a 520-horsepower, 5.2-liter turbocharged V8 at launch, followed by a 420-hp, supercharged V6 supplied by Ferrari, both working through an eight-speed ZF transmission.

Maserati ramping up production of Ghibli, Quattroporte

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

While Porsche may be relatively new to the four-door game, Maserati has been building the Quattroporte with few interruptions since 1963. But like its rival from Stuttgart, the Trident marque is rapidly shifting from a sports car company primarily to a manufacturer of high-end family transportation. Not only does it have the new Quattroporte on the market, but now it's got the Ghibli sedan as well and the Levante crossover on its way.
It's a gambit that's reaping huge benefits not only for Maserati itself but also for its newly merged parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, which is finding the mass market less lucrative than it once was and is positioning both Maserati and Alfa Romeo against other luxury marques like BMW, Audi and Porsche. As a result, Maserati is considerably expanding its production.
Last month, Maserati sold over 3,000 cars, putting it on track to double its sales from 2013. But it's not about to stop there. With growing demand for its authentically Italian luxury sedans, Maserati is shifting more workers to its assembly plant in the Turinese suburn of Grugliasco (where the QP and Ghibli are made) and shortening vacation time to ramp production up from 750 cars per week to 900.

Maserati confirms mystery concept, Zegna edition QP for Geneva

Mon, 03 Mar 2014

Debate ensued last week around the Autoblog offices when we first heard rumors that Maserati was bringing a new sports car concept to the Geneva Motor Show this year. Could there be any truth to the rumors? Did the timing make any sense? Does Maserati even need a two-door halo car to help it move examples of the new Ghibli, Quattroporte and upcoming Levante?
Well, we still don't have any official answer, but Maserati has indeed confirmed a new concept car to debut this week at the Swiss expo. The Modenese automaker hasn't indicated what form the concept will take, but assuming it's not doing another sedan or crossover, and unless it's planning a wagon concept like Touring's Bellagio Fastback or StudioTorino's Cinqueporte (both based on the previous Quattroporte), we feel it's more likely than not that we'll be looking at a two-door (be it a coupe, convertible or something in between).
Of course, we also don't know at this point just what size and segment Maserati is pursuing with this concept car (initial rumors had it going after the Jaguar F-Type) or for that matter whether it will presage a production version to follow or simply stand as a design study. But Maserati doesn't typically do many of the latter: the Kubang concepts of 2011 and 2003 previewed the Levante (albeit several years in advance), and the Birdcage was really more of a Pininfarina project, despite the Trident on the nose. With the exception of a couple production-based show cars (which themselves previewed production versions to follow), those are pretty much the only concepts Maserati has done in recent memory.
