Austin, Texas, United States

1956 Porsche 550 Spyder recreation.  Incredible car with extensive use of aluminum and amazing detail work per the pictures.  Car is in great condition - extremely clean, looks like a brand new car.  Was built by Fibersteel in California at a cost over $100,000.  This particular car is a very close replica of Porsche VIN 0018.  The body is a work of art with extensive beautiful aluminum work which was done by Fibersteel.  From the cockpit, engine bay, gas tank, wheel wells, brake ducts, etc., shows the fine craftmanship.  Fibersteel no longer offers this type of replica due to the amount of time and money it costs to make it (they only made 7 of this type).  The wheels are authentic with vintage Dunlop racing bias ply tires which are period correct and blemish free.  Complete leatherette interior with correct style shifter and emergency brake, billet aluminum pedals, and original brand new Porsche 550 gauges.  The car appears perfect due to it's $15,000 paint job that took months of work with block sanding and gap filling.  Also added the real venting modification for the carb access exactly per the originals.  You never see this detail in other tribute cars.  Bilstein shocks all the way around so the car has excellent handling and balance.  The engine was built by CB Performance of California.  This 2332cc blue printed and dyno test motor with 165hp engine gives this lightweight Spyder (1600 lbs) excellent acceleration and driveability.  The car is truly amazing and appears as new and stops traffic every where!  Incredible detail in every way.

NO RESERVE!  Bid with confidence.  Title is clean in hand.  Title is for an assembled vehicle.  $1000 deposit due within 48 hours of auction close.  Balance due within 5 business days following auction.  Cash or wire transfer is acceptable for payment.  I can assist with coordinating vehicle pick up but shipment is the responsibility of the Buyer.  Car is located in Austin, Texas, U.S.A.

Maserati orders explode, 22,500 through September

Wed, 16 Oct 2013

Last year when Maserati revealed a plan to sell 50,000 units globally by 2015, it seemed like a pretty steep goal for an automaker that had sold just 6,300 units for the entire year. It turns out that goal may be a little on the conservative side. Through September, Automotive News Europe says the Italian automaker has already racked up 22,500 orders mainly on the backs of the redesigned Quattroporte and the all-new Ghibli, and there are still more new products in the pipeline.
Back in August, we heard that demand in China was playing a strong role in Maserati's big numbers in 2013, and this doesn't even include the upcoming Levante SUV, which Maserati CEO Harald Wester expects to add as many as 25,000 units to the mix when it goes on sale in 2015. According to the ANE report, the Quattroporte is still the most popular model with almost 10,000 orders so far this year, while the smaller and more affordable Ghibli is performing quite well with almost 8,000 orders; the aging, but soon-to-be-replaced, GranTurismo models have about 5,000 orders.

Maserati dubs new SUV Levante, new sedan to resurrect Ghibli moniker

Fri, 28 Sep 2012

Building on the introduction of the GranCabrio MC that debuted at the Paris Motor Show, Maserati is planning three new models over the next couple of year in an attempt to raise sales to 50,000 units annually by 2015. While we think that that is a pretty lofty goal for a boutique automaker, redesigning its flagship sedan and adding two all-new models in popular segments sounds like a great plan of attack
The first new car we'll see from the Italian automaker is the next generation of the Quattroporte which will be a fitting way to celebrate the car's golden anniversary. We've already seen spy pictures of the new Quattroporte testing as well as a series of patent drawings that reportedly show the car's basic lines. Expect the new Quattroporte out sometime next year with a possible launch at the Detroit Auto Show.
Following the new Quattroporte, we'll finally get to climb behind the wheel of a Maserati SUV... just not the Kubang. Maserati confirmed that its new utility vehicle, based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee, will in fact be named the Levante. We already knew that Maserati would definitely not be using the odd Kubang name after this year, but if the Levante name sounds familiar, it's because we previously reported that this name would be used on a sedan slotting in below the Quattroporte.

Maserati Ghibli revealed ahead of Shanghai debut

Tue, 09 Apr 2013

We knew it was coming, and here it is: the 2014 Maserati Ghibli. Maserati's plan of selling 50,000 cars per year by 2015 starts with the Ghibli, which will be positioned in a more volume-friendly market against the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series. The Ghibli will make its official debut later this month at the Shanghai Motor Show.
Although our first look at Maseati's newest sedan is limited to just three images, we can see that the car will have a sportier exterior design than its bigger brother, the Quattroporte, to go with an equally luxurious interior. Under its long, sleek hood, Maserati has confirmed that the Ghibli will utilize a pair of 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engines - one gas and one diesel - both mated to eight-speed automatic transmissions. A rear-wheel-drive configuration will be standard, and the Italian automaker's new Q4 all-wheel-drive system will be available.
Scroll down for the brief teaser press release.
