Beautiful Maserati Zagato Spyder in need of some sorting out.  Runs/drives very well.  Many extras from the factory...spearco horizontal intercooler, pleated leather band wrap of interior instead of wood banding, walnut Momo steering wheel instead of vinyl, walnut shift knob, fiberglass side skirts, air dam, rear valance.  15" BBS wheel, four lug pattern, Weber carb, twin IHI 38mm turbos, Body is excellent condition.  Previous owner had in LaJolla, CA most of its life.  Car has never seen winter or snow.  Covered in garage.  convertible top is in excellent condition.  Royal blue top with tan suede liner underneath.  Clear rear window.  Now for the issues.  Need the steering rack rebuilt or replaced.  Sourced thru auto-italia can get power steering rack for just under $400 including new mounting bushings.  Brakes work fine but need the mounting seals for the master cylinder reservoir replaced (seals included with car).  Need hood prop rods replaced (two included).  Needs foam pad reinstalled under hood (included).  Driver door keeper needs replaced (included).  Extra timing belt included, drain plug wrench included.  A few other spares that don't come to mind included as well.  Complete shop manual on CD in English and Italian included.  Most rubber seals at the doors and windows need replaced...they are 27 years old!  Replacement turn signal included to replace one that is cracked.  Hate to see this car go but I just don't have the time.  Call me if you want to hear it run.  Very unusual sound with the twin turbos thru the Weber carbs.  Owner will pay half of shipping costs upto $600 for buy it now purchaser for lower 48 states.  Please ask any questions prior to bidding.  Thanks for looking.

Maserati Alfieri Concept draws from the brand's past, looks to its future

Tue, 04 Mar 2014

We may be just as (if not more) used to the idea of Maserati making four-door passenger cars as we are of Porsche or Aston Martin doing the same, but the Trident marque is no less routed in producing sports cars than its German and British rivals. The trouble is that, now seven years on the market, the GranTurismo is Maserati's only two-door model, and it's growing a little long in the tooth to serve as the brand's halo car. Especially when it starts looking back at its history on the occasion of its 100th anniversary. So to mark the milestone, and reconnect with its more sporting past, Maserati has rolled in to Geneva with the concept car you see here.
It's called the Alfieri, and we've been anticipating its unveiling since (if not long before) rumors surfaced last week of its impending arrival, followed by confirmation from the manufacturer and the leaked images we brought you mere hours ago. But now it's been unveiled in the metal.
The Alfieri's wheelbase is 9.5 shorter than the GranTurismo, but packs the same 4.7-liter naturally-aspirated V8.

Maserati confirms mystery concept, Zegna edition QP for Geneva

Mon, 03 Mar 2014

Debate ensued last week around the Autoblog offices when we first heard rumors that Maserati was bringing a new sports car concept to the Geneva Motor Show this year. Could there be any truth to the rumors? Did the timing make any sense? Does Maserati even need a two-door halo car to help it move examples of the new Ghibli, Quattroporte and upcoming Levante?
Well, we still don't have any official answer, but Maserati has indeed confirmed a new concept car to debut this week at the Swiss expo. The Modenese automaker hasn't indicated what form the concept will take, but assuming it's not doing another sedan or crossover, and unless it's planning a wagon concept like Touring's Bellagio Fastback or StudioTorino's Cinqueporte (both based on the previous Quattroporte), we feel it's more likely than not that we'll be looking at a two-door (be it a coupe, convertible or something in between).
Of course, we also don't know at this point just what size and segment Maserati is pursuing with this concept car (initial rumors had it going after the Jaguar F-Type) or for that matter whether it will presage a production version to follow or simply stand as a design study. But Maserati doesn't typically do many of the latter: the Kubang concepts of 2011 and 2003 previewed the Levante (albeit several years in advance), and the Birdcage was really more of a Pininfarina project, despite the Trident on the nose. With the exception of a couple production-based show cars (which themselves previewed production versions to follow), those are pretty much the only concepts Maserati has done in recent memory.
