1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse Gs Spyder Convertible on 2040-cars
Boaz, Alabama, United States
Car has been my daily driver for a while. I will tell you what I know about it (I'm not a mechanic).
- I have kept the oil changed, changed the plugs recently. Car starts first time, every time, runs like a top and has never failed me. - It is fun to drive, and gets a look now and then. Spring and summer days with the top down are the best. - I am selling it because I have a new baby and with the four of us now, this car is a bit small. I had to upsize. The Good: As I said, it starts up every time. It gets good gas mileage, up to 30 HWY if driven gently. Has a very good set of tires. A/C works great, even in the Alabama heat. I have never had a mechanical issue with the car. It is GREAT fun to drive. The Bad: The car has a small oil leak somewhere. I put in a quart every three weeks or so, no biggie. The convertible top motor is disabled. I don't know if it's been disconnected or what. The switch works, because the windows roll down automatically when you push it. It's very easy to lower/raise by hand, so I just did that. I didn't feel a need to get it looked at. The driver's door handle was broken by an oil change "specialist", (thanks Wal-Mart). I have a replacement handle that I have yet to put on. If I don't get it on before sale, I will include it with the vehicle. Vehicle sold "AS-IS" with no warranty implied. |

Maserati calling in new Quattroporte for electrical issue
Fri, 27 Dec 2013Exotic automobiles are just that: exotic. As in, rare. While Maserati is trying is darnedest to emerge from the fringes, its products are still less common than competitors from Germany, Japan or even the UK. Which is probably - more so than any superior quality or safety standards - why we rarely see the Trident marque's products the subject of a recall. Although it does happen upon occasion.
Back in the spring, Maserati had to call in over seven thousand examples of the Quattroporte, GranTurismo and Alfa 8C over rust issues. Now that the new Quattroporte is upon us, the Modenese automaker has apparently run into another small problem.
This time the issue revolves around the wiring harness for the alternator/starter motor, an improper crimp in which could cause the battery cable to short and start a fire. As a result, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is prompting 63 owners of the 2014 Quattroporte GTS V8 to bring their cars in to their local Maserati dealer to have the wiring harness replaced.
Maserati orders explode, 22,500 through September
Wed, 16 Oct 2013Last year when Maserati revealed a plan to sell 50,000 units globally by 2015, it seemed like a pretty steep goal for an automaker that had sold just 6,300 units for the entire year. It turns out that goal may be a little on the conservative side. Through September, Automotive News Europe says the Italian automaker has already racked up 22,500 orders mainly on the backs of the redesigned Quattroporte and the all-new Ghibli, and there are still more new products in the pipeline.
Back in August, we heard that demand in China was playing a strong role in Maserati's big numbers in 2013, and this doesn't even include the upcoming Levante SUV, which Maserati CEO Harald Wester expects to add as many as 25,000 units to the mix when it goes on sale in 2015. According to the ANE report, the Quattroporte is still the most popular model with almost 10,000 orders so far this year, while the smaller and more affordable Ghibli is performing quite well with almost 8,000 orders; the aging, but soon-to-be-replaced, GranTurismo models have about 5,000 orders.
2014 Maserati Quattroporte [w/video]
Wed, 12 Dec 2012Vastly Upgraded Italian Speed Sedan Kicks Off Brand Renaissance
The sixth-generation Maserati Quattroporte is big - and not just because it's 6.5 inches longer than before with a wheelbase that stretches 4.3 inches beyond its predecessor. The new Quattroporte is big also because it's a huge deal both for its segment and for Maserati. Just as FoMoCo is finally chucking $1 billion at Lincoln MoCo, so too is Fiat investing 1.2 billion euros ($1.55 billion at the time this writing) in Maser's future hopes of achieving the larger success we all have wished for it. And after a thorough drive over the intensely challenging mountain roads of France's Mediterranean coast, we can't deny that there's finally reason to put some faith in this long overdue investment.
The much-applauded outgoing Quattroporte enjoyed a reputation of being among the very fastest executive sedans of its day, all while delivering the sportiest overall ride and handling, even in base trims. Yet there was constant corporate-level dysfunction that kept all Maseratis from getting important upgrades or receiving much-needed investment support. So, the outgoing Quattroporte has up until now sort of languished nobly, largely resting on the laurels it earned when it launched way back in 2003.
