1997 Miata , One Owner, Low Miles, California Car, Excellent Condition !!! on 2040-cars
San Rafael, California, United States
this is an excellent example of a 1997 miata with very low miles.
the person i purchased the car from bought it brand new from the marin mazda dealership floor in 1998. it comes with the original window sticker. it also comes with every california DMV registration slip from 1998 to 2013 with the same owner and address. additionally, it appears that i have every service record for the car from the date of purchase. the car has always been garaged and sparingly driven from the date of purchase. from my discussion with the owner and observing his other cars, house and lifestyle, i am confident that the car was not abused in any way. everything works everything appears to be as delivered from the factory and unmodified, altered or missing. other than needing a clean, interior is in perfect shape, no rips, or stains in the carpet or seats, dash is perfect. the exterior is also in amazing shape, no rust, no accidents that i could find, original paint, and original soft top. to keep things open an honest. i took the car out of the garage, did not clean , vacuum or do anything to the car, just photographed it as it is, no cleaning, polishing or trickery. this is a clean clean clean car. if i did not have so many cars and a new project, i would keep this car. please contact me with any questions and i will chase down the answer. good luck bidding |

Japanese automakers ramping production for renewed American sales
Wed, 21 Nov 2012The 2011 earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan took quite the toll on the automotive industry in that nation. Not content to lean on that tragedy as excuse for slagging sales, the Japanese automakers are planning on a major production expansion in North America. The aim is to reclaim the market share lost from the Tsunami-based dip, and overcome a dollar/yen exchange rate that makes exporting to America unprofitable.
Following the Tsunami, Japanese automakers ramped up production in their North American facilities to compensate, but according to Automotive News, Nissan, Honda and others have all reported plans for still-further increased production in the year ahead. As part of this ramp-up, Mazda will open a facility in Salamnca, Mexico before March of 2014. Part of that increase in output is 50,000 units of a Toyota-badged compact car, which Mazda will produce.
Other Mexican production facilities opening include a Honda plant, which will open in Spring 2014 in Celaya, and a Nissan plant, set to open later this year in Aguascalientes. Nissan also said that it will need another plant in North America within the next five years. According to Nissan Boss Carlos Ghosn, the company aims to raise its stake in the US market from 8 percent to 10, and adding production will help achieve that goal. Even Mitsubishi is aiming to boost production at its Normal, Illinois plant. Production of the Outlander Sport is currently at 50,000, which Mitsubishi wants to raise to 70,000.
Feds investigating 2010-11 Mazda CX-9 CUVs over braking issues
Mon, 17 Feb 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating 62,000, 2010-2011 Mazda CX-9 models over brake problems. The government safety watchdog says it has received seven complaints of an observed loss of power braking power to stop the crossover, according to the The Detroit News.
The NHTSA complaints say that the problem causes a hard pedal, increased braking effort and reduced braking effectiveness. Some complaints allege that they hear a hissing noise during braking similar to the sound of air leaving the tires. No injuries or crashes have been reported.
"As always, we are fully cooperating with NHTSA on their investigation. We cannot comment further at this time," said Mazda spokesperson Tamara Mlynarczyk to The Detroit News.
Mazda Miata celebrates 25 years of rocking our worlds
Mon, 10 Feb 2014For its birthday it hasn't been profiled on 60 Minutes or been to Jay Leno's Garage, doesn't go on a retrospective tour of vintage racetracks or get a special Spyder Zagato edition. That doesn't mean we think any less of the Mazda MX-5 Miata, the roadster with a simplicity that was as enjoyable as it was barely believable when it arrived in 1989. A quarter of a century and three generations later, the Miata remains the go-to roadster when you want easy, balanced and economical thrills.
It grew from a 116-horsepower speedster with a five-speed manual transmission and a curb weight of 2,116 pounds, to a 167-hp go-kart with a five-speed manual coming in at 2,480 pounds (in Sport guise). Along the way it's picked up hundreds of awards, including 14 nods on Car and Driver's "10Best" list, its most recent eight-year streak coming to an end last year, the Guinness Book of World Records title as "Best-Selling Two-Seater Sports Car" and innumerable trophies as weekend racer extraordinaire.
We'll see the fourth generation at next year's Chicago Auto Show, and we're certain to hear more about its 25-year milestone this year. Until that happens, enjoy the images above and the gallery and press release below.
