This is a beautiful Mazda Miata which I am very sad to have to sell, but I am moving across the country and it simply doesn't make financial sense to bring it with me.
The car is in GREAT physical and mechanical condition. No known issues whatsoever. The car just had an air filter change, tire rotation, and full synthetic oil change approximately 700 miles ago with long-drain oil filter. I have the major service records from most previous owner and myself, including new timing belt and water pump at 75k, new Interstate battery at 84k, alignment at 79k, all new KYB struts and sway bar link at 75k. The top is in great condition with NO LEAKS OR HOLES whatsoever. The previous owner replaced the top within the last few years. This car has pretty much every option available, including BOSE CD/Cassette Stereo, Leather, Cruise, Power Windows and Locks. The previous owner also installed a Viper alarm system with KEYLESS ENTRY! The AC is ICE COLD and the heat is HOT HOT HOT. The only imperfections on the car are those to be expected from a 1999 model year in 2013. There are a few parking lot dings, one on the trunk lid, and a few smaller ones around the car. The black paint hides these beautifully and are not noticeable until you are right up on the car and looking for them. The wheels have a few tar stains on them that I have just never gotten around to taking care of. The drivers side seat has a very small (smaller than a penny) hole and some fraying on the bolster near the door from the previous owner getting in and out. Otherwise the leather and interior in general is beautiful. See the pics, they speak for themselves! Please ask any questions before bidding and good luck. I hope someone will enjoy this car as much as I do! |

2014 Mazda3
Fri, 12 Jul 2013The Cure For The Common Corolla
I hate the Toyota Corolla. I'm not talking about the new 2014 model; I can't yet judge a car I haven't driven. I'm referring to the current, old-as-dirt sedan. As an appliance, I get why people buy it, but it represents everything that I, as a car enthusiast, dislike. I don't like looking at it, I don't like sitting in it, and I really don't like driving it. There is absolutely no amount of emotion dialed into any part of the Corolla experience and every other vehicle in the segment is a far better choice. But still, somehow, Toyota sells 'em like hotcakes.
Thankfully, there are a lot of people who agree with me. And for folks like us, companies like Mazda exist. This small Japanese automaker places emotion and driver involvement as its top priorities when creating new products, and mostly - especially in recent years - the end results have been great. The new CX-5 crossover is a doll, to say nothing of the rakish and lovely new Mazda6 that launched earlier this year. And let's not forget the Miata...
Mazda Furai concept designer talks about his car's passing
Tue, 17 Sep 2013Last week, there was mourning at the Autoblog offices as word trickled in that the Mazda Furai concept - one of the coolest, best-looking showcars to grace an auto show stage since the wild and crazy 1960s -had been killed. It was killed on the track with the folks from Top Gear in attendance. We're sure the gods of driving would have wanted it to die on a circuit, but that doesn't make its fiery passing any easier to deal with.
The Furai is the rare concept car that had a lasting appeal with enthusiasts, partly because it was a real, functioning racecar, complete with a wacky three-rotor Wankel engine and cutting-edge Nagare design. Now that it's gone, though, Road & Track's Mallory McMorrow, who was an intern at Mazda Design when the Furai was being styled in 2007, has published an interview with one of the men who penned the Mazda showcar's striking exterior, Carlos Salaff. It's a great piece on the emotional connection between a designer and his creation, and one you should take the time to read. Click on over to R&T for the full story.
Mazda refurbishing this NFL running back's 22-year-old daily driver
Thu, 10 Oct 2013I don't actually care for the Washington Redskins (which is a good thing, considering the start to their season this year), but I love their running back, Alfred Morris. Why? Well, to start with, Morris helped deliver a dominating 10-3 season for my fantasy football team last year after a flash of prescience saw me pick him up off the waiver wire in Week 1 (hit me up on Twitter if you need fantasy sports insight, guys, I'm sort of like the Ruxin of Autoblog).
Morris is also pretty endearing because of his loyalty to his car, Bentley. Hold up - that's not to say the running back has splashed out on a Continental GT or a Flying Spur. No, Morris gave his much-loved 1991 Mazda 626 the tongue-in-cheek name "Bentley" while he was still a student at Florida Atlantic. One 1,613-rushing-yard rookie season and a $2.2-million contract later, and Morris is still using his Mazda as his daily driver. It might be easy to assume that the young player is simply being really prudent with all of his newfound wealth, but the guy really just has a thing for his five-speed-manual 626.
And Mazda, of course, loves the story of Morris' affection. In an effort to keep his 626 running strong and looking good, the company's Washington D.C.-area dealers have agreed to refurbish Bentley back to its original showroom freshness. Rather than spoil the classic (?) lines of the 626, the Mazda folks are essentially restoring the car for Morris. The cracked dash will be swapped out for a factory replacement, the engine and transmission given a thorough going-over and the whole vehicle generally made as fresh as Will Smith circa 1991. Bentley is expected to be completed and rolling through the capitol city by October 15, and in the meantime, Morris has been driving around in a new 2014 Mazda6 loaner car.
