2002 Mazda Miata MX-5. Daily driver in great condition. Car has new top, with solid rear window with defogger, and also has a cover to hide top when it is down. Car has new brakes, new power window motors in both doors, new power steering line and new V-belt. Air conditioner blows cold and works very well. Top can be put up or down in only a moment by one person. This car has been very reliable and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. Transmission shifts smoothly. Tires are not new, but have amble tread remaining.

Car has AM/FM with CD, Power Windows, boot cover for convertible top, dash glove box, console storage, two console cup holders, working cigarette lighter, net storage full width of passenger compartment behind seats and air deflector behind head rests.

Car has 149,015 miles, but is tight with no squeaks or rattles. It does not smoke or use oil, has no fluid leaks, and the engine runs quietly. The interior is in good condition, but does show some normal wear. Seats have no tears, console is in good condition, radio, CD and speakers work very well, power windows work. There is one small hole in the drivers arm rest. The entire drivers door interior panel can be replaced for around $100, but I haven't seen the need to do so. I always maintain a car well, and this car is no exception. I am not aware of anything this car might need. The car is comfortable for short or long trips with top up or down. Please review the provided pictures.

I bought this car because of its appearance and economical operation - while just being plain FUN to drive! It has lived up to my expectations! Unfortunately, I now have 4 other vehicles and a motor home - something has to go. and this is the smallest of all of my other vehicles. My loss can be your fun gain.

Although I have full confidence in the dependability and operation of this vehicle, it is a used vehicle and is being sold as is, where it is.

Mazda planning 'aggressive' dealer shakeup

Tue, 17 Dec 2013

Mazda has set an ambitious goal of selling 400,000 units by the end of the 2015 Japanese fiscal year in March 2016, and to do that, it's going to need to take some aggressive action. That means that underperforming members of its 637-showroom strong dealer network are about to get the axe.
The purge won't just be limited to dealers that aren't performing, though. Mazda will seek to consolidate poorly located dealers and build new showrooms in better locations. It still isn't clear how many dealers are being targeted or at what point Mazda would end its cull.
This consolidation of dealers is all part of a one-two punch for the Japanese brand, that will also see increased marketing efforts in 35 key areas. Of those markets, Mazda is placing a special emphasis on New York and LA, although there's not much mention of what other regions are being looked at.

Next-gen Mazda MX-5 Miata mule spied 'Ring testing

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

Fans of simple, lightweight motoring, rejoice - we now have images of the next-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata undergoing testing at der Nürburgring Nordschleife. Now, to be fair, this isn't some lightly camouflaged example that will give us a great peak of what the next Miata, which will also become the next Alfa Romeo Spider, will look like. This is a mule, with the new bits hidden under a current Miata's body. That doesn't mean there aren't a few scraps of valuable information here, though.
According to our flock of camera-toting spies at the Nürburgring, the next Miata is likely to grow a bit, as new models are wont to do. In particular, it will be longer and wider, and the wheelbase is likely going to be stretched, based on the shape of the wheel wells and doors. Both of those factors will add more space in the cabin.
Those are the big indications provided by these photos, but while the MX-5 might be growing, it's a safe bet based on these images that it, and the (likely pricier) Alfa, will retain the classic, long-hood, short-deck styling that so typifies rear-drive roadsters.

Mazda CEO says rotary not viable, so don't look for a new one

Tue, 19 Nov 2013

We have some very sad news to report, rotor-heads fans: Don't expect a new rotary-powered vehicle anytime soon. This comes straight from Masamichi Kogai, the CEO of Mazda, which is the only company to ever market a commercially successful rotary-powered automobile in the world. The issue, as it has pretty much always been, is environmental.
While the Wankel rotary engine does indeed make a lot of power in a small, lightweight package, it does so while burning lots of fuel and emitting lots of noxious gases into the atmosphere, at least when running on gasoline. And that means the rotary engine will likely only ever be able to power niche vehicles. And that, in turn, means that it is very difficult to turn a profit on vehicles with rotary engines, particularly for a small automaker like Mazda.
"It has to be a viable commercial proposition. If we are going to adopt it, it has to be a product that can generate at least sales of 100,000 units a year. We have to be able to achieve a profit," said Kogai in an interview with Automotive News. Mazda sold 56,203 RX-7 models in the United States (the automaker's biggest market) in 1986. Sales of the RX-8 peaked in 2004, its first full year on the market, with just 23,690 units.
