This is a great car that has a lot of life left in it. We bought it certified used from a Mazda dealer and carefully cared for it over the years. Because a change in jobs, we no longer need this car. We relied on this car and as long as someone was caring for it, it never let us down. This car requires some work and if we still needed it to commute, we would put the money into it that it needs. Very few miles have been put on the car in the past few years.
This car served us well as a larger car that fit anything and everything we tried putting into it. The back seats go down flat in a 60/40 split to allow for a very large back for extra long/wide cargo. There is also a cargo shield net that is still intact and comes with the car. We loved this station wagon, because it functions like a wagon as far as roominess goes, but it's sporty and fun to drive. It's a heavy car that handles well in snow and slick rain. The engine light is on and it is due for 4 new tires. We took it to a very reputable independent mechanic recently regarding the engine light. See photos for a copy of the mechanic's notes on the engine light code and the work needed. The car also needs a replacement antenna. Normal wear and tear on car should be expected due to age (see photos). The car was driven on a road that was being re-lined with road paint. Some white paint exists on passenger side door (see photo with white arrow pointing to area). Example of recent service performed on the vehicle: - oil change with synthetic blend oil (less than 1,000 miles ago) - 3 new motor mounts were put on June 1, 2013 - brand new AAA battery July 31, 2013 - new belt tensioner/pully in mid-Feb 2013 - passed inspection with no repairs needed in early Jan 2013 - less than 8,500 miles since new brakes and rotors installed Original manual, two sets of keys with remote entry and dealer touch up paint included. Vehicle is being sold as-is with no warranty. |

Modded budget Mazda Miata takes on new Porsche Boxster in more challenges
Tue, 23 Sep 2014Earlier this month, our friends across the pond at Auto Express released the first in a two-video series that would see them try and build up a second-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata that could best a standard Porsche Boxster around the track. While that first video detailed the mods to the MX-5 - a supercharger, some suspension upgrades and a new set of super-sticky rubber being chief among them - and set baseline lap times for the stock car, today, we have the results of the 5,000-pound ($8,200) upgrade job.
Of course, we aren't going to spoil those for you. You'll need to watch the full video, which recaps the upgrades before digging into a comparison of both straight-line-speed differences between the 2.7-liter Porsche Boxster and blown Miata, as well as their behavior and lap times on the track.

44 Miatas engaged to spell happiness from above
Mon, 16 Jun 2014We've seen all manner of ways to propose marriage, from the usual candlelit dinner to the Jumbotron at the big game. A friend of ours recently proposed with his a barbershop quartet singing backup. But this has to be a new one - and one that automotive enthusiasts would probably find even more touching than a sky-writing biplane.
A member of the Miata.net forum recently asked other MX-5 enthusiasts to help him pop the big question to his bride-to-be. He got 31 Miatas together and needed just four more, but after appealing to his fellow roadster fans, over 40 turned up in the parking lot at the local high school.
The groom-to-be runs an aerial photography business and used an unmanned drone which his girlfriend thought would be shooting some local real estate properties when it flew over the parking lot and captured the image you see above with 44 little roadsters spelling out "Marry Me?" The answer, in case you were wondering, was a resounding "Yes!" How could she not, after all, when those Mazda convertibles are just so darn adorable? Now they'll just need to figure out what they'll be driving to the chapel on the big day.
Mazda Furai concept designer talks about his car's passing
Tue, 17 Sep 2013Last week, there was mourning at the Autoblog offices as word trickled in that the Mazda Furai concept - one of the coolest, best-looking showcars to grace an auto show stage since the wild and crazy 1960s -had been killed. It was killed on the track with the folks from Top Gear in attendance. We're sure the gods of driving would have wanted it to die on a circuit, but that doesn't make its fiery passing any easier to deal with.
The Furai is the rare concept car that had a lasting appeal with enthusiasts, partly because it was a real, functioning racecar, complete with a wacky three-rotor Wankel engine and cutting-edge Nagare design. Now that it's gone, though, Road & Track's Mallory McMorrow, who was an intern at Mazda Design when the Furai was being styled in 2007, has published an interview with one of the men who penned the Mazda showcar's striking exterior, Carlos Salaff.
