1985 Mazda Rx-7 Gs Coupe 2-door 1.1l on 2040-cars
Vista, California, United States
This 1985 Mazda RX7 GS is a very well preserved car, mechanically perfect and an excellent driver. I am owner number 3 and the car fax supports the mileage of 100,7XX. The car came to me from a collector car dealer in Boise Idaho and was in well preserved shape. A new radio is the only modifications from stock I’ve noticed and the original stereo, equalizer and cassette come with the car. Here is the list of work beyond oil and filters performed during my ownership:
There are receipts to document all of this. Every system on the car works, as it should. Currently it wears Idaho plates but on 3/6/14 the car easily passed a California smog inspection, which is good for change of ownership within 60 days. I find nothing that would make me doubt this is original paint and see no evidence of rust. Ocean Blue Metallic, code L-6, which appears to be a fairly rare one-year only color. There are small chips in the clear coat located on the plastic rear bumpers edge, see pictures. The grey cloth interior looks incredible, no rips tears or stains. The dash is 100% crack free and all the glass has the original Mazda stamps. Headliner is in great shape with no discoloration or sagging. I have tried to describe this car as honestly as I can. This RX has been enjoyed and that means the occasional chip and some wear marks but short of a frame off restoration or a museum piece I doubt you can find a cleaner example. Feel free to contact me, Bill 760-809-9746, with any questions or to view the car. Pre--purchase inspections will be facilitated in the North San Diego County area at your expense only. Finally the legal stuff: · The
car is sold “As is” with no implied or expressed warranty. · Seller
will help to facilitate shipping but only at buyer’s sole expense. · $500.00
due from winning bidder via PayPal within 24 hours of the auction’s end. · Balance only via
certified check, cash in person or wire transfer within 7 days of auction
ending. PayPal will not be accepted for the balance unless seller agrees in
advance and buyer pays all associated fees.

Mazda Miata celebrates 25 years of rocking our worlds
Mon, 10 Feb 2014For its birthday it hasn't been profiled on 60 Minutes or been to Jay Leno's Garage, doesn't go on a retrospective tour of vintage racetracks or get a special Spyder Zagato edition. That doesn't mean we think any less of the Mazda MX-5 Miata, the roadster with a simplicity that was as enjoyable as it was barely believable when it arrived in 1989. A quarter of a century and three generations later, the Miata remains the go-to roadster when you want easy, balanced and economical thrills.
It grew from a 116-horsepower speedster with a five-speed manual transmission and a curb weight of 2,116 pounds, to a 167-hp go-kart with a five-speed manual coming in at 2,480 pounds (in Sport guise). Along the way it's picked up hundreds of awards, including 14 nods on Car and Driver's "10Best" list, its most recent eight-year streak coming to an end last year, the Guinness Book of World Records title as "Best-Selling Two-Seater Sports Car" and innumerable trophies as weekend racer extraordinaire.
We'll see the fourth generation at next year's Chicago Auto Show, and we're certain to hear more about its 25-year milestone this year. Until that happens, enjoy the images above and the gallery and press release below.
Consumer Reports digs Mazda3, disses Jeep Cherokee
Tue, 11 Feb 2014Consumer Reports has just rendered its verdict on two of the more important cars to launch this year - the Mazda3 and the Jeep Cherokee. Considering the value a "Recommended" rating carries with the public and the viciously competitive markets these two cars compete in, Consumer Reports' view could have some impact on their initial success.
For Mazda, that's a good thing. CR spoke quite highly of the Zoom-Zoom brand's compact sedan and hatch, testing both models, and citing the excellent fuel economy and snickety-snack manual shifter as high points. Downsides to the 3 included a ride that is agile but "nervous," a bit too much noise and a cramped back seat. Still, the 3 was good enough to earn its place in the ranks of the "Recommended."
The Jeep didn't fare quite so well, with CR calling the polarizing CUV "half-baked." Although both engines were tested, the magazine called the 2.4-liter four-pot underpowered and its nine-speed automatic unrefined and unresponsive. That's particularly damning, considering the 9AT's role in future Chrysler products, including the extremely important 200. Overall, the Cherokee missed out on the coveted "Recommended" rating.
Mazda6 Skyactiv-D racecar gets first win at Road Atlanta
Tue, 23 Apr 2013Mazda has a long motorsports history, and one that is peppered with fascinating cars. The latest chapter in Mazda's racing story has just been written, as Joel Miller and Andrew Carbonell have driven the Visit Florida Racing Mazda6 Skyactiv-D to the car's first ever victory at the Rolex Grand-Am GX race at Road Atlanta. The win marks the first ever for Mazda's diesel-burning, production-car based Skyactiv-D racer, and the first win for a diesel-powered car in a Grand-Am event.
In fact, it was a particularly good day for the Mazda Motorsports team, as a Mazda6 also picked up the third finishing spot at Road Atlanta. Director of Mazda Motorsports, John M. Doonan, said of the racecar, "We've always said that the best street cars make the best racecars, and, with more than half of the components in the race engine being shared with the street engine, this program is a solid proof-point."
SpeedSource Engineering, which helped to build the Mazda6 racer, was greatly heartened by the car's performance in just it's fourth-ever race. Owner Sylvain Tremblay called the victory, "a tribute to the thousands of hours of hard work over many months," continuing, "The normal plan with a new car is to spend the first year in development, the second year seeking race wins, and challenging for a championship in year three. We are already at our year-two status after four races. We can't wait to get to the Belle Isle course in Detroit for round five."
