1985 Mazda Rx-7 Gsl Coupe 2-door 1.1l on 2040-cars

US $2,700.00
Year:1985 Mileage:133173
Location:

Up for sale is my 1985 Mazda RX7 GSL with 133k on it. It is neither a showroom vehicle nor a basket case. You’ll get a garaged car that’s a daily driver you can enjoy and work on along the way. It is in good as is condition, being fun and reliable. Surprisingly it gets much attention from different generations of people. Mark my words, these collectible vehicles are getting closer to having their day in the sun.

Here are the pros…

There are no major rust issues with the car; the paint is average with some clearcoat fading in some areas (see pics).

It has a newer CD player with a phone jack for your Smartphone. It also has Sirius satellite radio. I do have the original factory radio cassette with equalizer included.

Has the removable sunroof, power windows, power mirrors (driver side doesn’t work), and cruise control.

Recent service includes the front/rear brakes, front rotors, and brake fluid flushed.

Other repairs in my ownership are: all belts replaced, changed spark plugs, master cylinder replaced, thermostat replaced, igniter replaced, and newer battery.

Here are the cons…

Air conditioning doesn’t work (never looked into, may be a leak that needs sealing and perhaps an opportunity to convert to 134a coolant). Heat does work.

Power steering doesn’t function due to a leak. I’ve already replaced the pump (But I have no issues with driving).

There is a surface scrape on the very front corner of the right quarter panel and bumper (see pics). HOWEVER, I have a car bra (never used) that will cover the scrapes if you don’t want to initially paint. It will come with the car. I have also a new unused, unpainted bumper cover and all used replacement parts (light covers, rubber molding) to repair the scraped area should you repair and paint down the road. It includes a shop manual (a reproduced edition).

A $500.00 deposit via PayPal is required to hold the vehicle and the balance is due upon pick up with a certified check only. Car will be for sale locally in Cincinnati, Ohio. Feel free to contact me with questions.

R&T chases down a burglar in the million-mile Miata

Mon, 04 Aug 2014

Is the answer always Mazda Miata? We discussed this in passing on the Autoblog Podcast earlier this week, and most assuredly the answer is "no." For example, the little MX-5 would be a terrible people carrier, and it'd be useless off road. You can't really tow anything of substance with it, either. Still, if push came to shove, it's satisfying to know that the diminutive roadster could eke out a career as a chase vehicle for the police.
That fact was proven when Road & Track editor Chris Cantle did something that he himself recognizes as "stupid." Upon returning home, Cantle discovered a "twenty-something" actively burgling his home. The resulting story is easily one of the more entertaining episodes to come out of the 1990 MX-5's service to the team at R&T and, we're guessing, will be one of the highlights of the Million-Mile Miata challenge.
Be sure to head over to Road & Track for a full retelling of the chase from Cantle, as well as a follow-up on the saga.

2014 Mazda Skyactiv Prototype looks ready for Daytona

Fri, 17 Jan 2014

With less than two weeks before the Mazda Skyactiv Prototype makes its race debut at the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona, the Japanese Zoom-Zoom brand brought its diesel-powered racer to the floor of the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
The red prototype marks Mazda's return to prototype racing, and will campaign the inaugural Tudor United SportsCar Championship using a 2.2-liter, SkyActiv-D diesel engine. With 451 horsepower on tap and 580 pound-feet of torque, the racer should stand up well against a field of gas-powered competitors.
Should the Skyactiv win Daytona, it'll be a coup for Mazda. The racer is running an engine with over 50 percent of its parts drawn from the oft-delayed production Skyactiv-D. Head up top for our full gallery of images of the new Skyactiv Prototype. The 2014 Rolex 24 will be run from January 25 to 26.

2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata won't get power folding hardtop

Thu, 11 Sep 2014

Following the reveal of the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata, more and more details (and rumors - oh, the rumors) are coming out regarding exactly what's in store when the car finally goes on sale. Our own Chris Paukert had plenty to say about the exterior and interior, and we've now seen the first photo of the engine. But a new report from Automobile sheds even more light on the 2016 Miata - specifically, that the power folding hardtop model won't be available, at least initially.
Automobile reports that the 2016 MX-5 will only be offered with a cloth top, and an insider confirmed that the mechanism is light and accessible enough that it can be raised and lowered with one hand from inside the car. Mazda officials would not comment on the availability of a hardtop in the coming years.
That said, a hardtop Miata isn't out of the question. There will likely be some sort of fixed roof available - even as a one-piece, lift-off accessory - if only for club racing. Also, remember that the current NC Miata's hardtop is the only one on the market that doesn't take up any additional trunk space, so it's an attractive proposition for buyers. Currently, the power hardtop is only offered on the Club and Grand Touring MX-5 Miata trims.
