1994 Mazda Rx-7 R2 Coupe 2-door 1.3l on 2040-cars

Year:1994 Mileage:59964
Location:

The time has come to put my 94 Rx7 up for sale. This specific model is the R2 edition which is the "race edition" of the options for Rx7. The R2 has upgraded options to make it such: Dual oil coolers, suede seats, no sunroof, no cruise control, stiffer suspension and a RX7 adjustable front strut tower brace. These models only came in Brilliant Black, Vintage Red and Silver Stone Metallic. There were only 80 94 R2's shipped over in the Silver Stone color, making this one even more rare.
The main reason I am selling is because that I would like some more room. This car is driven at least once a week, but I feel like some one else deserves it who can drive it even more or really enjoy it. The paint looks very good as it was painted right after I received the car, it does have a few mess ups by the painter but not something that is a deal breaker. It boost great currently set at 12psi. I wouldn't recommend going higher on boost with the stock turbos, that's about the max they can handle.

Color: Silver Stone Metallic
Mileage: 59,964 miles

Mods:
Rebuilt motor with ALS seals approx 3k on rebuild (Built by Eccentric Performance in Asheville, top notch rotary builder)
Single turbo harness with all emissions deleted
No AC
No power steering (rack was sent to Chip Motorsports in Michigan and properly converted/beefed up to handle the lack of power)
-6an braided fuel lines
stock primary rail with 550cc injectors
KG secondary rail with Bosch 1600cc injectors
Aeromotive FPR
Stock turbos converted to Non-sequential form, with ported internal wastegate
HKS dual intakes
Greddy throttle elbow
Apexi front mount intercooler
HPS silicone couplers with t-bolt clamps
Rx7 store Koyo replica radiator
AST deleted (air seperation tank)
OMP deleted (oil metering pump - must premix when fueling)
Magnecor 8.5mm wires
Relocated battery to bin using a Odyssey PC680 battery
Meghan 3" downpipe
Petit Racing midpipe
3" HKS exhaust

99spec Mazda Nardi steering wheel
99spec drivers elbow pad
Re-amemiya short shiter
Rx8 shift knob
Greddy Profec type s boost controller
Autometer white face 30psi boost gauge
Autometer white face Water temp gauge
AEM wideband O2 sensor gauge
Apexi Power FC stand alone engine management with new OLED Commander
Weather floor mats

Kaaz LSD
M2 coilovers (ground control coils with advanced design struts, amazing struts you are able to adjust the damping and rebound) currently not installed
Volk Racing LE-37k wheels 18x9.5 rear/18x8.5 front
BF Goodrich T/A KDW tires with 95per tread left - 265/35zr rears and 235/40zr fronts
R2 front lip
Stock tails converted to 99 spec round tails

The only cons on the car are the that there is a small crack in the gas filler neck, if you fill it up it will leak. I haven't fully inspected it yet but I always just fill to 3/4 of the way and it never leaks. It is a 17gal tank so I just do the math. The hood has been twerked slightly, it is raised up on the front corner ever so slightly. Also the front where the hood meets the bumper, it looks like the previous owner leaned on it and bent some metal..not really noticeable.

Will the Mazda2 be offered as a PHEV with a rotary engine range extender?

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

Every few months, it seems a rumor crops up about plans from Mazda to revive the rotary engine. Last November, its CEO said the only way another one could happen is if the project was profitable, and then a month later the automaker showed off the Mazda2 RE Range Extender with a 330cc Wankel engine mounted in the rear. Now, Australian auto site Motoring reports that the PHEV may actually make production in the next-gen Mazda2 sometime after it's initial launch.
Martin Benders, managing director of Mazda in Australia, spoke to Motoring about the company's future with hybrids and basically reiterated what the CEO said last year. The Japanese automaker only plans to offer electrified powertrains in places where they can sell in sufficient numbers to be profitable, like Japan.
Mazda has been playing with the rotary range-extender idea for years. In the RE prototype, the engine was exclusively used to charge the lithium-ion batteries when they were running low, and a 100-horsepower electric motor provided all of the propulsion. It gave the little hatch an estimated range of about 250 miles. The company reportedly took inspiration from its Skyactiv engines to make the Wankel have lower friction and a lighter weight.

Mazda begins building Mazda3 in Mexico for US

Tue, 07 Jan 2014

With fluctuations in international currencies and rising shipping costs to take into account, foreign automakers can't get away with building cars overseas and selling them in North America as easily as they used to. Particularly with inexpensive mainstream models. And given the benefits of cheaper labor and free trade under NAFTA, many have opted to assemble their cars for the North American market in Mexico. That's why the likes of Toyota, Mercedes and BMW have all opened plants in Mexico. And now Mazda has followed suit.
Ground was initially broken for Mazda de Mexico Vehicle Operations at Salamanca in the state of Gunajuato back in 2011, but production has just now gotten under way. The first vehicle to roll off the line? A Mazda3 sedan destined for the United States. Soon, the plant will begin production of the next Mazda2 as well, selling it alongside its larger counterpart across the Americas and in Europe as production expands to 230,000 units annually. Scion FR-S pitted against oldtimers RX-8 and S2000

Tue, 07 May 2013

There are very few vehicles available today that compare directly with the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ twins. A case could be made for the Mazda MX-5 Miata, and possibly even six-cylinder versions of American coupes like the Ford Mustang. Pretty much everything else is either too expensive or is powered by the wrong set of wheels.
The boys from EverydayDriver on YouTube decided the only fair way to judge the inherent qualities of the Toyobaru twins was to pit them against two standard-bearers of years past: The Honda S2000 and Mazda RX-8. Neither of these cars is an exact matchup, with the Honda boasting a convertible top and the RX-8 offering more practicality via a rear seat and two reverse-opening doors for easier access. What they do offer, however, are similar performance stats and proven reputations for excellent handling.
None of this talk answers the real question, though: Which one wins the comparison test? Scroll down to watch the video, and be prepared for something of a surprise conclusion.
