04 mazda rx8 1.3 rotary engine. auto w/paddle shifters, leather, sunroof. front aftermarket bumper/ side skirts. lowered 2 inches in the front, 20 inch wheels with very good tread on the tires. navi, flip out dvd with aux input. 105000 miles. only mechanical problem I've ever had with this car was the alternator. Was fixed with OEM alternator. Bad things: the big wheels screwed up a traction sensor. I've driven the car at least 40k miles with this "problem" and there is no issue beside TCS is stuck on, and 2 lights on the gauges are on. The left headlight needs to be replaced because of moisture issues. That is the reason for the obo. the high beam and running lights work great in the headlight, but the low beam hid works ever so often. the car's paint is far from perfect, but it is an older car. The window tint was bubbling and it made it hard to see clearly, so I removed the tint, but it would not completely come off of the rear window. I recommend getting familiar with rotary engines before considering this car, because they are tricky sometimes. This car's "good" blue book value is around $6800, so even with the buy it now price, you're still getting a good deal. Over the past 5 1/2 years of owning this car, I've have babied it. I've changed the oil every 3000 miles on the nose, and ran nothing but premium fuel through it. The car sits really low, so you have to drive with care. I bought the car from a dealership, and I believe I am the second owner. I have never had a wreck in the car, (knock on wood). I do not want to get rid of this car, but I bought a new truck, and no use in paying insurance on it if it is just sitting in the garage. Email me with questions.

World Car of the Year finalists announced
Fri, 07 Mar 2014To say the 2014 Geneva Motor Show was packed full of news is an understatement as big as the show's home at the Palexpo convention center. Despite everything that we were able to cover during this year's show, there's still more coming out of Switzerland, including the announcement of the finalists for the 2014 World Car of the Year Awards.
We reported on the original list of finalists over three weeks ago, and now, that initial list has been pared down to three finalists for each of the five awards. The finalists were announced at a press conference by frequent Autoblog contributor and co-chair of the awards, Matt Davis (above).
The finalists for the overall title of 2014 World Car of the Year are the Audi A3, the BMW 4 Series and the Mazda3. The World Luxury Car of the Year will be either the Bentley Flying Spur, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class or the Land Rover Range Rover Sport, while the Performance Car of the Year will be awarded to the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, the Ferrari 458 Speciale or the Porsche 911 GT3 (which, um, yeah...).
Mazda 16X rotary engine two years away, will arrive in all-new model
Fri, 16 Aug 2013We last reported on Mazda's next-generation rotary engine project in June of 2012 when the automaker built its last Renesis-powered RX-8, but rumors of this new engine's development had been around way before that final car left the production line in Japan, last year.
We now have enthusiastic confirmation that this next-gen rotary engine is really and truly going forward. It is still referred to as 16X and has several priorities. First is to lower fuel consumption compared to the RX-8's engine, while still making gains in terms of performance. The second is to reduce the burning of oil that was happening at the highest revs. And the third and final priority, and perhaps most key for enthusiasts, is to give the powertrain a big torque upgrade.
What we were told by a Mazda USA insider (while we are all here together at the festivities in Monterey) is that the first application of the new 16X engine will be happening in two years' time in an as yet undisclosed new model. Oh, the mind races to our eternal Mazda wish list...
Mazda CX-3 crossover coming to LA
Tue, 28 Oct 2014The Mazda booth at this year's Los Angeles Auto Show will showcase some new crossovers. In addition to the refreshed CX-5 that we're expecting, the Japanese automaker has announced plans to unveil its new CX-3 compact crossover.
According to Mazda, the brand's entry into the compact CUV market will feature "the full range of SKYACTIV technology and KODO - Soul of Motion design." We take that to mean lightweight chassis and body architectures along with fuel-sipping gasoline and, perhaps, diesel engines.
The CX-3 will have to take on a slew of upcoming competitors, including the Honda HR-V, Chevrolet Trax and Jeep Renegade, and reports indicate it will share a platform with the Mazda2, which is just starting production in Mexico. We don't yet know if it will be front-wheel drive only or if all-wheel drive will be optional. The CUV is also likely to share the Mazda2's engine, which isn't yet revealed for the North American market. Japan gets the 2 with either a 1.3-liter gasoline engine or a 1.5-liter diesel.
