Reluctantly for sale is this 4 year
labor of love restoration of the rarest of the final series of Mercedes Benz’s
classic hand-built cabriolets. Classic period correct silver over a rich red
factory correct leather interior ideally honor the Paul Bracq lines of this
iconic motorcar. For inclement weather a fully lined black German canvas
soft-top completes the picture perfectly.
No expense has been spared in
bringing the car to a standard that meets and surpasses the original factory
delivered quality. The state of the body panels and the hand rubbed paint turns
heads while at the same time honoring the period and character of the original
car. The same philosophy has been applied throughout right down to the interior
veneer restored by leading US expert, Drew Tibcken and the German restored and
fully functional Becker Europa TR.
Far from a show pony, even though
pampered in every way since its restoration, this car’s rebuild was undertaken
with a brief that it would be driven and much attention was therefore lavished
on ensuring a tight and rewarding drive for the touring owner. With driving in mind, the original
matching numbers engine has also been subject to excellent care and maintenance
beyond the show ready cosmetic preparation. This attention includes an authorized
service agent rebuild of the Bosch MFI pump. The extremely rare 4-speed manual
transmission with its SL style slender and elegant floor mounted shift works
precisely and adds beautifully to the driving experience.
Further details of the car and its
restoration along with the W111 023 series generally can be found at
http://www.classiccar.co.nz/articles/1967-mercedes-benz-250se-cabriolet-classic-cabrio-256
and additional information and photographs will be made freely available to
interested parties. Inspections of this very special can also be arranged as
can worldwide shipping at the buyer’s expense.
This is an extremely rare opportunity to acquire a standout car of remarkable quality, which will immediately satisfy the most discerning of enthusiasts without the need to invest time or money before enjoying it on the road. Although now 45 years old, the complete rebuild undertaken without restraint means the driver and passenger experience is at least the equal of factory new. The mileage stated represents use following restoration completed in 2011.
A full record of the restoration of
this magazine featured car is available to the buyer along with all original
order and delivery documentation associated with its tourist delivery in
December 1966.
Legal stuff: This car is also listed for sale
elsewhere and the seller reserves the right to withdraw it from sale at any
time and for any reason. Although it has been subject to an extensive and
comprehensive restoration, it is offered for sale without any express or
implied warranty as to condition or fitness for any particular purpose to the
extent permitted at law and applying to private party sellers of motor
vehicles. Any purchaser will be presumed to have made all diligent inquiries
and carried out or had carried out any and all inspections they require prior
to entering into any binding agreement to purchase. |

Mercedes to market Tesla-powered 2014 B-Class EV in U.S.
Thu, 05 Jul 2012Looks like another Tesla Motors investor will be looking to cash in on their connection. Autoweek reports Mercedes-Benz will offer their B-Class in the U.S. with Tesla propulsion.
The magazine says their source at the German automaker confirms plans for a B-Class electric-only vehicle. While Tesla already provides battery packs for the battery-powered Smart ForTwo, the B-Class EV will reportedly have Tesla batteries, motor and other components. U.S. residents should be able to procure one sometime in 2014.
The same Mercedes source says plans for a hybrid B-Class have been postponed for now. Adding a range-extending, gasoline-powered engine to an electric vehicle would put the car into a different class for which rebates and incentives aren't as favorable in the States.
Mercedes considering GLA-based crossover coupe
Wed, 30 Apr 2014BMW opened a whole Pandora's Box when it introduced the X6 back in 2008. Sure it made little sense, sacrificing all that "utility" for a little more "sport," but it's been a solid success for BMW - especially considering the nominal expense it cost to develop the X6 on top of the X5 on which it's based. Little wonder that, while BMW has already followed up with a smaller version in the form of the X4, other automakers are starting to catch up. And that includes Mercedes-Benz.
The German automaker is preparing to launch a new MLC, based on the M-Class but with a sportier silhouette, and previewed it with the Concept Coupe SUV at the Beijing Motor Show. But that's just the start, according to the latest report from Automotive News Europe.
Mercedes is reportedly considering spinning off an entire line of crossovers more for use on the road than off it. Which may go without saying for most crossovers on the market, but considering the Geländwagen with which Mercedes got its start in SUVs, would mean an even further departure than it has undertaken already.
YouTube's Super Bowl commercial buzz list dominated by automakers [w/videos]
Thu, 31 Jan 2013After Sunday's big game, YouTube will be the place to watch every commercial that you missed when you left your seat for an emergency guac refill or, as we say in Cleveland, took the Browns to the Super Bowl. That makes YouTube the nation's water cooler on Monday, and it's got some preliminary stats to share in the lead up to kickoff.
As you know, Super Bowl advertisers, particularly automakers, like to endlessly tease their big budget commercials in the weeks before the game, many times revealing them outright days in advance. Because of this, YouTube can tell us which commercials have been viewed the most so far, and their top five list is all automakers.
Kaley Cuoco appears to have been a good investment for Toyota, as her ad for the RAV4 has garnered the most YouTube views - six million and counting - among Super Bowl commercials so far. Second place goes to Mercedes-Benz, though not its actual Super Bowl commercial, but rather the teaser for it. You know, the one with Kate Upton and the car washing, which is up to 5.6 million views. Third place is Audi's Prom commercial (3.3M views), fourth goes to Volkswagen's slightly controversial Get In, Get Happy ad (3.3M views), and the fifth and final spot is bookended by the teaser video for Kaley Cuoco's commercial (3.2M views). You can watch all five in order below.
