This is my gorgeous 1968 Mercedes 250S S-class sedan with 21,931 miles. This is without a doubt one of the finest W108-body Mercedes for sale anywhere in the country.
This is a ONE-OWNER car purchased from the estate of the original owner who bought it brand new back in 1968.
This car has been garaged, well-kept and continuously serviced since new.
This Mercedes has an amazing number of features that made it very advanced for 1968, including unibody construction with safety cage, overhead cam 6-cylinder engine, four-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel disc brakes, fully independent suspension, and much more. As a result, this drives much like a modern car- to drive it you can hardly believe that it is 45 years old.
This car drives outstandingly well- it drives as well as it looks or maybe even better. The whole car is tight, solid and responsive. The steering, brakes, suspension, etc are all TIGHT and the car tracks down the road precisely and handles very well. This car is a true pleasure to drive and the superior German engineering is evident in the smooth and solid operation of every knob, lever, button and door handle.
This car is completely reliable, dependable and in excellent mechanical condition. The car starts, runs, shifts and drives beautifully. I would not hesitate to make a long drive anywhere in this car- I would drive to California and back with no worries.
The mileage reads 21,931. This mileage is strongly believed to be original and accurate miles, but due to the age of the car, the title will read that the mileage "exceeds mechanical limits".
The body and paint are in beautiful condition. The car has had one repaint, and the paint is very good for a 45 year old car. It shines well and looks great. There are no dings or dents of any significance- the body is completely straight and clean.
The interior is clean and in great condition. The driver's and passenger front floormats have been replaced with newer carpet, but the rest of the carpet is original and still in very presentable condition. The vinyl seats are excellent, with no rips or tears, and with all the springs and stuffing in good shape- no sagging or poking. The wood dashboard is in great shape and the original AM/FM radio works well. The steering wheel is the original white Mercedes wheel in great shape and the transmission shift knob is wood, also in great shape.
To nitpick, here are the only faults I can mention: there is what sounds like a very minor exhaust leak at the resonator, there are a few tiny bubbles in the paint, when I say tiny I mean the size of a pencil eraser, and there is one spot where paint has flaked off on the driver's side front fender that has been brush-touched. The electric clock appears to work but doesn't keep accurate time; it runs slow. The sideview mirrors are not the originals, but correct original mirrors are included with the car in the trunk.
This car is 45 years old and as such it is not brand new. Please expect normal issues of wear and tear consistent with the age of the car. The interior and exterior show normal minor wear and tear and small faults and flaws. That said, this is probably the nicest W108 Mercedes you will find for sale anywhere.
Also included with the car are service/repair manuals, the original Mercedes-Benz dealer directory from 1968 as well as a box of spare parts and service parts.
You can fly in to Cleveland (CLE) and drive this car home if you wish. Alternatively you can have the car shipped- I highly recommend Angels Moving Autos at 530 245 0481.

Mon, 19 Aug 2013LA To The Grand Canyon In The Mercedes-Benz Of RVs
Piloting an 8,500-pound motorized house down the highway is far from my idea of fun, yet inexplicably, I'm enjoying myself. My grin has nothing to do with my camper's handling, as this heavily accoutered Mercedes-Benz Sprinter drives like a 25-foot long breadbox. My smile has nothing to do with on-road stability, as the ten-foot-tall, slab-sided vehicle reacts to wind gusts like the vertical stabilizer on a Boeing jet. My delight has nothing to do with its throttle or braking response, either, as both are as numb as your forehead after the eighth beer.
This monstrosity makes me happy for one reason - my passengers are undeniably having a good time.
SRT Viper dukes it out with Mercedes SLS Black Series in new Head 2 Head
Fri, 05 Jul 2013In Episode 36 of Motor Trend's Head 2 Head, now that the Corvette ZR1 is no more, Jonny Lieberman has to look overseas to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series for a challenger with similar philosophy to the SRT Viper: long hood hiding a high-horsepower engine set way back, rear-wheel drive, tiny trunks. That puts the Viper's 8.4-liter V10 with 640 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque against the SLS AMG's 6.2-liter V8 with 622 hp and 468 lb-ft.
However, the congruences in philosophy and magnitude of numbers doesn't translate to the driving experiences of the two, which are literally and figuratively on different continents. Lieberman gets a handle on the two of them on Northern California roads, Randy Probst then finds out how, and how quickly, they can lap Laguna Seca.
They both get kudos for being improvements on their original sources, but only one of them can take the win. You can find out by watching the video below.
New Die Hard movie wrecked 132 cars in $11 million chase scene [w/video]
Sat, 16 Feb 2013It would seem the act of dying hard brings with it lots of wanton destruction of the four-wheeled kind. According to John Moore, director of A Good Day To Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis, There were 132 (cars) that could never be used again. Another 518 required a lot of work. And damn right there were some good cars there... That's the fun of it."
Please join us in one great big collective sigh. Done? Okay, let's continue.
"With Die Hard it's about how audacious the action is," says Moore. "So you have to drive over a Lamborghini. An actual one. And yes it hurts me. I'm a car fanatic." Yeah. Sounds like it hurt really bad... though not as bad as the final tally after all the carnage had been counted: "Someone showed me the numbers on the car chase and soup to nuts, you put it all together it was like an $11 million sequence."
