For a 41 year old car, this 250C is in pretty good condition.  You can tell by pictures the body, interior, and paint are acceptable.  An electric fan has been added, plus a new battery.  This car is drivable.  The greatest distance I have driven it is around 25 miles.  One of the carburetors have been rebuilt and I think the other one needs it. Transmission and brakes work as they should.  Had a local Mercedes mechanic tune it up.  He said motor is good shape.  Odometer shows 67K+, but is not working.  The bad is:  one carburetor needs rebuilt, The heater stays on ( installed inline valve so it could be turned off}, 2or 3 bubble spots on paint (not bad).  This 250C  can be a daily driver very easy.  All glass is good, doors shut sound. body is very straight.  This car is for sell locally so auction could end anytime. $500 deposit has to be paid within 48 hours after end of auction, thru PAYPAL, certified check, or cash.  Buyer is responsible for transportation of car.

Carlsson turns Mercedes-Benz SLK into 610-HP hill-climb clawer

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

Carlsson's race-tuned versions of the Mercedes-Benz SLK have been taking checkered flags for years, and we won't be surprised if its SLK 340 hill climber fares any different. Developed by multiple German and Swiss hill climb champion Reto Meisel, the carbon-bodied SLK 340 with lightweight brakes and a closed underbody weighs 1,716 pounds. Propelling that tiny bit of weight is a 3.4-liter V8 from Judd with 610 horsepower, and it rolls on 18-inch wheels shod in Avon tires.
It will debut at the Geneva Motor Show before beginning its racing campaigns in the summer. This one won't just tear up roads in Europe, though - Meisel says he plans on bringing it to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The press release below has more details.

Maybach lost upwards of $500k on each vehicle sold

Wed, 08 Feb 2012

Daimler is shuttering Maybach in 2013 after seven years of production. In that time, the company's ultra-ultra-luxury arm managed to sell just 3,000 units, and CAR reports Daimler lost somewhere around $500,000 on each and every one of them.
Even with a ludicrous price tag of over $370,000 for an "entry" Maybach 57, the brand couldn't quite recoup the dizzying $1.33 billion Daimler poured into it since its (re)inception. Rumors ignited over a possible tie up with Aston Martin that would have resulted in a range of new and attractive models, but Daimler has instead decided to snuff out Maybach altogether.
We can hardly blame them.

2017 Aston Marin Lagonda could live on Mercedes M-Class platform

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

A few weeks ago, we brought you news from the launch of the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante that the British brand, which is formally known as Aston Martin Lagonda, was still planning on going ahead with a Lagonda-badged crossover. Now comes word that that vehicle could very well be based on a Mercedes-Benz M-Class.
When the first Lagonda Concept debuted at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, it sat on a Mercedes-Benz GL-Class platform, some four years before Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG deal was inked. And with that partnership, which will see Aston Martin gain access to AMG electrics and "bespoke, V8 powertrains," the opportunities for platform sharing are many.
Dr. Ulrich Bez, the boss of Aston Martin, told the UK's AutoCar, "I look at what Porsche is doing with the 911 as its core business and then it is able to do models like the Cayenne based on the Volkswagen Touareg. It is good business." We've said many times that we'll tolerate exotic CUVs and SUVs if it means keeping the beloved core models alive, which has been the case with Porsche. We see no reason Aston Martin wouldn't be able to do the same.
