1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet. This is an original US-delivered 3.5 Convertible, professionally restored in the correct factory ‘mittelblau’ metallic blue over Saddle Roser leather interior with burl-walnut trim and a contrasting Haartz blue convertible top, the results are nothing short of stunning. s all 280SE 3.5 Convertibles that reached the US were equipped, this car has factory-installed Behr air-conditioning, a Becker Europa radio, dash-mounted clock, power-windows, vacuum-operated power locks and much more.Mechanics, as described above, this Mercedes is a fantastic running and driving car. There aren't any apparent mechanical flaws and it's obvious that this car's been well maintained and restored to a very high standard. The suspension and shocks feel very good and the tires have plenty of tread. Watch the video below to see this 280 accelerate to 60 MPH. Notice that there is no hesitation in shifting and no vibration in the wheel. I sustain a good speed on a small two-lane road, then slow down and turn at a traffic light. Pay close attention to how quiet the car is while running and while braking, you can clearly hear the "tock, tock" of the turn signal and no problematic noises.Exterior, Exceptional! As detailed in the pics below, this cabriolet has been restored to a very high standard and has seen little use since. The paint, top, glass and chrome are all wonderful.

Mercedes dealers authorized to spend $2,500 on perks for S-Class customers

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

If you drop $100,000 on a luxury sedan, it seems only reasonable to receive some preferential treatment at the dealership you purchased from. After all, that price isn't just for the car - you're paying for the brand and all the cachet that entails. For Mercedes-Benz, those benefits have apparently been lacking relative to the German brand's luxury competitors.
That's set to change, though, as Automotive News reports that the German brand is placing a much greater emphasis on keeping its customers happy and loyal with its MB Select program. Starting with the new S-Class and spreading to the CLA-Class (and eventually beyond), dealers are being given money - up to $2,500 in the case of the flagship sedan - just to improve the customer experience.
We agree, improving the "customer experience" is quite a vague term, so it's nice that Mercedes USA's CEO, Steve Cannon, offered up some examples to AN at the LA Auto Show. For example, a customer couldn't fit his sunglasses into the overhead compartment. "So we bought him a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses that fit because of their shape," Cannon said.

Maybach lost upwards of $500k on each vehicle sold

Wed, 08 Feb 2012

Daimler is shuttering Maybach in 2013 after seven years of production. In that time, the company's ultra-ultra-luxury arm managed to sell just 3,000 units, and CAR reports Daimler lost somewhere around $500,000 on each and every one of them.
Even with a ludicrous price tag of over $370,000 for an "entry" Maybach 57, the brand couldn't quite recoup the dizzying $1.33 billion Daimler poured into it since its (re)inception. Rumors ignited over a possible tie up with Aston Martin that would have resulted in a range of new and attractive models, but Daimler has instead decided to snuff out Maybach altogether.
We can hardly blame them.

Mercedes Makes A Mighty Little Sedan
We got overexcited when the W203 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan came out in 2001, calling it the "Baby Benz" when it really wasn't. We knew that, too, but our enthusiasm for a model more like the old 190 of the '80s was so strong that we were willing to stretch the first-gen C-Class to fit that mold. Today, the C-Class has done what all German premium cars do: grown in size. In this case, grown to satisfy the market intentions of the previous E-Class.
There was the tall A-Class sold from 1998 through 2010, but we never considered that a serious small Benz in the proper spirit, nor was it ever offered in the US. Regardless, we've been craving a smaller, premium, sexy sedan all the while.
