1983 Mercedes-benz 300d Base 4-door 3.0l on 2040-cars

Year:1983 Mileage:327720

This car has seen a lot of work in the past.  It was close to showroom condition.  In the last 3 years however it's been used as a daily driver and parked outside.  A few problems are known and I would like to do my best to describe them:

1 The biggest problem is an area under the drivers seat has rusted out some.  It's still safe to sit on but the floor is sagging some and it's visible from the outside.

2 There is a relatively minor cracked section on the front grill.  This was a result of trying to open the hood on a cold day.  We still have the piece.

3. A whistling sound exists while the car is running...until it fully warms up.  We think it's a break in the vacuum system that is used in the auto door locks.  The door locks work much better when it's warm.

4. Some dents do exist.  One on the back right corner is most noticeable.  I hope the photos do it justice.

5.  The antenna is entirely missing off the back.  This is one of the details I hope the photos capture.

6. A possible heat/thermostat issue makes the heat stay full on or full off.  We really don't know what's going on with it but I imagine it's a simple fix.

The work that's been done in the past is quite extensive.  The entire Upholstery was redone with new leather and cushioning.  It was kept as the pride and joy of a collection of multiple Mercedes's from the 80's.  This was the last one the previous owner was willing to sell before he moved to Los Vegas.  It's not uncommon to get 500,000 miles on one of these.  You can expect a solid 24 mpg, but I've heard it's possible to get over 30.  The electric sunroof is nice and smooth.  The engineer runs great of course.  Mechanically this is quite sound.  The ride is great...very smooth with smooth shifting.  It's a dream to ride.  Please rely on the photos for the specifics.  The Ebay item details may be off...but I'll do my best t make them accurate.

Feel free to ask questions.  I am willing to show it to any locals interested.

2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class revealed again in 1:18 scale

Fri, 10 May 2013

There is plenty to look forward to when it comes to the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but it could end up being a fairly anticlimactic reveal thanks to fully exposed spy shots, a leaked press photo and now images of a diecast version of the luxury sedan. Autoweek.nl has images showing a highly detailed 1:18 scale model of the redesigned S-Class that matches up with everything we've seen so far.
This isn't the first time a model car spoiled a new vehicle's reveal, as the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and 2013 SRT Viper were both unceremoniously revealed in toy form first. World Car Fans is reporting that the car 2014 S-Class will be officially unveiled on May 15, but at this point, all that's left to wonder about is the official on-sale date and what will be under the hood.

Mercedes testing C-Class plug-in hybrid modes in Germany

Wed, 07 May 2014

Testing appears to be underway for what would be the first Mercedes-Benz C-Class with a hybrid powertrain. We can see a pair of the prototypes undergoing testing in Germany, with one, a C-Class Wagon, still heavily clad in camouflage and featuring a more noticeable outlet on the passenger side of its rear bumper.
There's also a more production-looking sedan, which features a not-so-discreet flap over its rear-bumper outlet. It's difficult to speculate on power outputs for this fuel-sipping C-Class, although our spies seem to think that this car will feature some combination of a four-cylinder gas engine with an electric motor, although just which four is unclear (note, we wouldn't mind if MB fit its 2.0-liter turbo with some batteries and motors). Regardless, the four-pot/electric motor seems like a pretty reasonable combo, although it probably means that Mercedes won't be challenging the six-cylinder-powered system of the BMW ActiveHybrid3 any time soon.
When the plug-in C-Class arrives later this year as a 2015 model, it will likely offer a full range of driving modes, including both gas or electric, only, as well as a more traditional hybrid mode.

Mercedes-AMG GT attacks Circuit of the Americas

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Mercedes-Benz is having a banner year with its Formula One team. Through 2014, the constructor has 454 championship points; ahead of its nearest competitor (Red Bull-Renault) by a margin of 182 tally marks. We're sure they can almost taste the champagne.
It's fitting then, and a little big cocky in a good way, that Mercedes has released a video of its newest sports car at an F1 venue. In this case, the car is the lovely Mercedes-AMG GT S, and the racetrack is Austin's Circuit of the Americas.
Having seen the official photo set and scratched the surface of the technical specifications earlier this week, we're excited to finally hear the thing run. As you might guess, the deployment of 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque from the twin-turbo V8 is a motivating experience. Crank up your volume, and hit that play button. (Oh, and Mercedes shot the thing in 4K, too, so those of you with expensive televisions/monitors should take heed to the settings.)
