Offered for sale is an absolutely gorgeous, exceptionally clean, 42k original mile 1995 Mercedes E320 Cabriolet finished in ceaselessly tasteful Smoke Silver Metallic over a Parchment leather interior. With a sticker price of $79,595, the car was sold new by James Motor Company, the Mercedes dealership in Lexington, KY, the car would spend a majority of its life in nearby Missouri, always used as a second car and weekend driver, always garaged and always professionally maintained. The car was sold to its most recent owner in Houston, Texas in 2009, who continued the car’s sparing use, accruing less than 4,000 miles in five years of ownership.

The completely original factory Smoke Silver paint is in fantastic condition throughout, marred only by a handful of extremely minor imperfections (a very soft door ding, a handful of touched up chips, etc.), all of which are consistent with a well cared for, low mileage example and none of which are significant enough to appear in any of the pictures. The body is straight with factory consistent panel fits and gaps and absolutely no indication of any accidents, further backed up by a clean Carfax report that also validates the low original mileage. The soft top is in excellent original condition and the original wheels are wrapped in Michelin tires with plenty of remaining tread. The car’s parchment interior is absolutely impeccable, the leather seats, carpets, interior panels, wood inlays and dash all showing virtually no wear whatsoever. Everything works, including the ice cold air conditioning system, 10-way power and heated seats, seat belt assist, power top, roll-over-protection bars, original sound system and 6 Disc CD player.

The car is also in fantastic mechanical condition, starting effortlessly and pulling strongly and smoothly through each of the gears. The time tested, bullet proof 3.2L Inline 6 Cylinder engine puts out plenty of torquey power and the car is a joy to drive, whether tooling through town or cruising down the highway. While it would be shame to turn this into a daily driver, it’s certainly a turn-key a modern classic that will undoubtedly provide many happy years and miles for its next owner. The car comes with its original window sticker, its original books and manuals, both original keys, tool kit, spare tire and a rare removable windscreen.

With Mercedes’ trademark solid construction, gutty yet elegant era-specific styling and still relatively simple mechanical and electrical systems, the E320 Cabriolet is considered by many in the collector car world to be the last standard production Mercedes that will ever be considered a classic. Offered in hardly-broken-in original condition, this beautiful original example is quite possibly the finest on the market today.

We want this car to go to great home and would be happy to further discuss it and answer any questions, so please feel free to email us or call us at 805-708-2404.

Goodman Reed Motorcars

We’ve always had an appreciation for classic European cars and over the years have created an eclectic personal collection. We only buy cars that we’d personally be interested in owning and generally only sell them to make room for other acquisitions. That time has come for this Mercedes (if the price is right, of course - this isn't a fire sale). We try to give accurate descriptions of the cars we’re selling, but we’re enthusiasts, not experts, and we encourage and are happy to help facilitate personal or professional inspections. But please do so before bidding, as the alternative harms our ability to make sales to other interested parties who have done their proper due diligence before bidding.

For U.S. buyers a 10% non-refundable deposit is required within 3 days of the auction’s end, the balance to be paid within 7 days of the auction’s end. Foreign buyers must pay in full within 7 business days of the auction’s end. Buyer is responsible for shipping, however we’d be more that happy to help with recommendations and arrangements. The car is listed locally and we reserve the right to end the auction at any time should it sell prior to auction’s end. Thanks for your interest.

Volvo S60 Polestar concept plays in the snow with Mercedes C63 AMG

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

Chris Harris took to a snowy stretch of tarmac to get a fingertips-on-the-wheel feel of the Volvo S60 Polestar concept. Harris says the turbocharged sedan with 508 horsepower and 424 pound-feet of torque - and a manual transmission - is "a study to see if Volvo can get back into the fast-car market." The Polestar S60 concept, one of which was already purchased for $300,000 by a private buyer, is still making the publicity rounds because even Volvo's Chinese owners realize that, as Harris says, "Volvo sold more cars because it made fast cars" like the old 850 T5 Wagon that stormed the British Touring Car Championship in the 1990s.
For reference, Harris compares the blue wonder to the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG and its 487 hp and 442 lb-ft. The question is, were Volvo to get the price of a production version of the S60 Polestar to climb way down from its 200,000-pound sticker, could it be worthy competition to the established giants?
You can watch Harris divine the answer via a lot of drifting through the snow and a drag race in the video below.

First official shot of Mercedes S-Class Coupe leaks out

Mon, 10 Feb 2014

With the official debut for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe expected tomorrow, it shouldn't be a surprise that some clicky fingers have already managed to uncover an official image of the car before the unveiling. Outside of this sole image, though, there's precious little detail on the new car.
First posted by Autofilou and then picked up by WorldCarFans, the production S-Class Coupe isn't far off from the concept car we saw a few months back in Frankfurt. Like the concept, the leggy production model appears related, albeit distantly, to the S-Class Sedan. The hood and front fascia are longer and lower, befitting of a two-door, while the character lines in the profile are more pronounced. Obviously, the beltline and slim, B-pillarless greenhouse are coupe-only items. We can't see any details on the back of the car, although it does appear that the long hood has a correspondingly short rear deck.
We'll have all the details on the official replacement for the CL-Class when it makes its full debut tomorrow. Until then, what do you think of this lone image? Does it appear that Mercedes has got it right? In terms of design, where would you rank this with the departing CL-Class? Have your say in Comments.

Mercedes-AMG GT attacks Circuit of the Americas

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Mercedes-Benz is having a banner year with its Formula One team. Through 2014, the constructor has 454 championship points; ahead of its nearest competitor (Red Bull-Renault) by a margin of 182 tally marks. We're sure they can almost taste the champagne.
It's fitting then, and a little big cocky in a good way, that Mercedes has released a video of its newest sports car at an F1 venue. In this case, the car is the lovely Mercedes-AMG GT S, and the racetrack is Austin's Circuit of the Americas.
Having seen the official photo set and scratched the surface of the technical specifications earlier this week, we're excited to finally hear the thing run. As you might guess, the deployment of 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque from the twin-turbo V8 is a motivating experience. Crank up your volume, and hit that play button. (Oh, and Mercedes shot the thing in 4K, too, so those of you with expensive televisions/monitors should take heed to the settings.)
