An extremely clean 1997 Mercedes Benz C230 4 door sedan. ONLY 117k MILES. The leather interior in this car is in such amazing shape I almost want to say like new. Everything works as it should, the only issue I see is the LCD screen on the radio went bad, but the radio works fine. Runs and drives great, no knocks, squeaks and drives straight and smooth. The transmission shifts perfectly and the car has plenty of power. With the 4 cylinder motor, it gets really good gas mileage as well. The exterior is clean, but with almost all silver Mercedes from this time period, the clear coat has swirls and can use a really good detailing to get it back to near perfect. The only spots I see with issues is by the trunk release in the back where it looks like a little rust has come through and a few small chips on the trunk lid that have little rust spots,,,,those can be fixed with touch up paint. This is a great entry level luxury car that can be owned for less than a beaten up Honda Civic. The tires are at about 75-80% tread life left. The brakes work fine, but I can not tell how much life is left. Thank you and good luck bidding.

Race Recap: Singapore Grand Prix is about a safety car and submission
Mon, 23 Sep 2013The Singapore Formula One Grand Prix is the Monaco GP of the Orient - a weekend known more for its glamour and time-slot than on-track action, with a temporary circuit that punishes every mistake, usually terminally.
Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes-AMG Petronas got the best of Free Practice 1, opening the curtain on a possible resurgence of Silver Arrows performance. By the time qualifying was done, though, it was his teammate Nico Rosberg who lined up second on the grid, followed by Romain Grosjean with a beautiful performance in the Lotus, Mark Webber in the Infiniti Red Bull, and Hamilton all the way back in fifth. Behind them were Felipe Massa outqualifying Ferrari teammate Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button getting the McLaren into eighth, Daniel Ricciardo with another good Q3 effort to get into ninth, and the shocker of Esteban Gutiérrez getting his Sauber into the top ten for the first time this year.
At the front of the pack was Sebastian Vettel. Again. But he was only ahead of Rosberg by a single tenth of a second...

Mon, 25 Mar 2013In a world where the YouTube hoax continues to thrive, it's hard to know what to think of this little vid, but here are the facts as we know them: a coupe that looks like a first-generation Mercedes-Benz CLK gets crushed by a giant front-end loader. There you have it.
Our questions arise in the aftermath - we know industrial resource machinery is heavy, but the Benz gets squashed so flat we wonder if someone's trying to play a joke on us. We hear that the white coupe may have been the heavy-equipment operator's foreman's car, but who knows? The on-camera interview seems awfully conveniently placed, yes? Really, there's no way to know until the car in question hits the auction block and bidders start raising their hands. In the case of the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing you see above, the celebrity owner is none other than Clark Gable, who purchased it new. After Gable's death in 1960, the car changed hands a few times before settling with Charles Wood in 1975.
A high-dollar restoration was performed in 1989, and period accessories added by Gable himself were kept in place, including the Rudge knock-off wheels and Nardi steering wheel. Any Mercedes-Benz 300SL is worth a big chunk of money. In the case of Clark Gable's old Gullwing, the bidding stalled at $1.9 million here at the 2013 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale. As one of the 5000-series cars, this 300SL carried a reserve, and a bit of after-the-fact dealmaking saw the car change hands for $1.85 million.
