Up for sale is a 1983 Mercedes Benz 240D with 271,866 miles on it. I haven't had it for very long but as far as I can tell, this is a good car that I think will run for a very long time as long as long as it is taken care of. It has a fresh oil change and a new fuel filter put on last week. This car has leather seats, automatic transmission, power windows, manual sun roof.
The body has some rust on it on the drivers side behind the back tire, on the passengers side back door and right behind the back door and a small spot at the bottom corner of the windshield on the drivers side. There is 2 very small dents in it. One on the bottom of the drivers door and one on the rear quarter panel on the drivers side. The tires are almost new and I don't see any signs of weathering. There is a small crack in the windshield at the bottom coner on the passengers side. I didn't even notice it until my wife pointed it out. The whole car needs a good cleaning and probably a good buffing. The cruise control doesn't work.
It runs good but could still use some work. There is a squeal that come from the engine and I think it is either the alternator or the alternator belt. It seems like it is at tight as it gets but there is still a squeal. The diesel engine in the car seems like it runs the way it should. It is under powered like they all are in cars like this. You won't win any races with this car but it will get you where you want to go. The car doesn't smoke when starting or any other time. The car is in Iowa and I had it plugged in and didn't have it running for 3 days, I went out and it started right up with no problems and it is COLD outside.
I have heard of these cars having well over a half a million miles on it and I'm pretty sure that this one is no exception.
Like I said before, I haven't had the car for very long so if you have any questions or want to make an offer, send me a message and ask and I will do my best to answer them. The car is for sale locally for $1500/obo as well so I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells before the auction ends. I require a deposit of $500 within 24 hours of the auction ending and the balance due in cash at the time of picking the car up. The car must be picked up within 7 days from the auction ending. Thanks for looking!!!

2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class lineup shows its freshened face
Mon, 14 Jan 2013Mercedes-Benz showed us its redesigned 2014 E-Class more than a month ago, but the Detroit Auto Show finally gave us a chance to see the full family of mid-size luxury cars and wagons in the flesh. Dieter Zetsche introduced the cars, including sedan, coupe, convertible and station wagon, on stage showing the stylish new design direction.
The wagon and sedan versions (shown as the E400 Hybrid above) will go on sale this spring, while the coupe and cabriolet will hit showrooms over the summer. Check our new gallery of live shots for the entire 2014 E-Class lineup, as well as the previously released press release below.
Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG shows up to fight the hottest hatches [w/videos]
Wed, 13 Feb 2013Fun coincidence. On the same day that Audi announces the unveiling of its new S3 Sportback at the Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz steals the spotlight by confirming that the all-new A45 AMG will also receive its official debut early next month. Starting life as the entry-level A-Class hatchback, the A45 AMG gets the full AMG treatment, which includes numerous performance, handling and styling upgrades.
Under the hood sits an AMG-tuned 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 breathing through a sport exhaust system helping the five-door produce 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired to a seven-speed AMG dual-clutch transmission and power is sent to the ground using 4Matic all-wheel drive. Mercedes-Benz says that the A45 AMG will be able to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in under 4.5 seconds and it will have a top speed of 155 mph; in the land of hot hatches, it doesn't get much hotter than that. For added performance and handling, AMG has retuned the A-Class' suspension and steering systems and equipped The A45 with a three-stage stability control system that is specific to this car.
Surprisingly, the exterior styling of the A-Class was already sporty enough that the new model doesn't receive too many changes to become the A45 AMG. The biggest alterations include black accents to the chin spoiler, rocker panels and mirror caps, black wheels with red-painted brake calipers and rectangular dual exhaust outlets. Inside, it doesn't take a trained eye to spot the differences. The flat-bottomed sport steering wheel and the numerous red accents throughout the cabin (including the seatbelts!) really help to make this AMG interior stand out; front passengers will also get sport bucket seats that appear to be more than supportive enough for even the most spirited driving conditions.
Volvo S60 Polestar concept plays in the snow with Mercedes C63 AMG
Thu, 24 Jan 2013Chris Harris took to a snowy stretch of tarmac to get a fingertips-on-the-wheel feel of the Volvo S60 Polestar concept. Harris says the turbocharged sedan with 508 horsepower and 424 pound-feet of torque - and a manual transmission - is "a study to see if Volvo can get back into the fast-car market." The Polestar S60 concept, one of which was already purchased for $300,000 by a private buyer, is still making the publicity rounds because even Volvo's Chinese owners realize that, as Harris says, "Volvo sold more cars because it made fast cars" like the old 850 T5 Wagon that stormed the British Touring Car Championship in the 1990s.
For reference, Harris compares the blue wonder to the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG and its 487 hp and 442 lb-ft. The question is, were Volvo to get the price of a production version of the S60 Polestar to climb way down from its 200,000-pound sticker, could it be worthy competition to the established giants?
You can watch Harris divine the answer via a lot of drifting through the snow and a drag race in the video below.
