A very solid rust free 1975 300D. This belonged to a friend of mine who was the second owner and stopped driving it in around 1999. Recently the car went through a major service, all new fluids, belts and hoses. New top of the line Bosch battery. All new glow plugs, filters etc. I'm a BMW person and never owned a Mercedes or know anything about Mercedes but this car runs like a tank. It starts everytime rain or shine cold or hot. It doesn't leak or burn any oil the miles I have driven. The odo meter does not work and so I can't tell how many miles it has or I will be lying to you. The blower fan works but I can't get the air conditioning fan to come on. The temp gauge works also but the fuel gauge does not work. I have not taken to a mechanic to have these checked. I'm not putting any more money into it. It could use new tires before you drive it off too far. Otherwise the car is ready to travel and what a joy it is to drive. It needs a paint job although the paint is evenly worn everywhere. I replaced the exhaust hangers and I noticed there is no sign of any rust under. The interior carpet and headliner is in excellent shape. Dash has a few cracks and the front seats are torn in the middle and I put those wooden bids on and works great. The interior actually looks great as it is if you are not picky. Sunroof works! Like I said it is a very solid running and driving 300D classic. You can slowly restore it and it will be worth restoring. If you are looking for a show car please run away! This is almost a 40 year old car that is pretty much unrestored. You are buying it as is where is without any warranty expressed or implied. I have a clean and clear title in hand. Please ask me all kinds of questions before placing a bid. Serious buyers only and that is why I left it at open bid. Please follow through after the auction ends and don't waste my or your time. Thanks for looking. Please watch this video if you want to fall in love with this classic model http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LzJFXsI4HA |

Mercedes leads in US luxury car thefts
Wed, 31 Jul 2013Mercedes-Benz makes some fine automobiles. The Silver Arrow'd cars are so good, apparently, that thieves can't help but try to steal them. The German brand is at the top of the charts for luxury car thefts in the US, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, with New York City leading the way. (And those New Yorkers complain about Detroit being bad!)
The C-Class was the most stolen model, with 485 ganked between 2009 and 2012 in NYC alone, while the E-Class and S-Class (which also boasted the worst recovery rate, at 59 percent) both finished in the top ten. Following the C-Class was the BMW 3 Series and Infiniti G. Not surprisingly, each of these were the most common models in their respective lineups. Los Angeles and Miami are also prime hotspots for luxury car thefts, according to the Detroit News report.
While getting your car stolen is pretty awful, there was one inspiring statistic compiled by the NICB - the average recovery rate across the board was 84 percent, with the Cadillac CTS getting recovered 91 percent of the time.
Mercedes to roll out C63 AMG late in 2014 with 4.0L V8
Mon, 30 Dec 2013The new 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is upon us, launching initially in North America with turbocharged four-cylinder C300 4Matic and six-cylinder C400 4Matic flavors. But that's only the tip of the proverbial iceberg when it comes to the vast array of powertrain configurations that will be offered in the new C-Class in markets around the world. Orders will soon be rolling in for gasoline, hybrid and diesel engines with four, six or eight cylinders, driving the rear wheels or all four, with the seven-speed automatic transmission soon to be replaced by a new nine-speed unit. But what enthusiasts are really looking forward to is the next C63 AMG.
As BMW has done with the M3 (and new M4), Mercedes has gradually ratcheted up the cylinder count in its AMG C-Class, graduating from the 3.6-liter V6 in the original C36 AMG to the 4.3-liter V8 in the C43 AMG, then the 5.5-liter V8 in the C55 AMG before going the distance with the sublime 6.2-liter V8 in the C63 AMG. Like its rivals, Mercedes is expected to use turbochargers as a replacement for displacement in the next model, but unlike its Bavarian rival, it won't be losing any cylinders in the process.
Skipping the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 that has gone on to power other AMG models, the next C63 AMG is still expected to introduce a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing between 450 and 500 horsepower. It'll also reportedly keep the same seven-speed automatic transmission (instead of switching to the new nine-speed), but the jury's still out on whether it'll come with rear- or all-wheel drive (or offer buyers the choice). The downsized V8 - codenamed M177 - is then expected to find its way into other models, but the C-Class will be the first to get it when it arrives before the end of the new year ahead.
Mercedes releases 6x6 G63 AMG specs and pics [w/video]
Fri, 15 Mar 2013Mercedes-Benz has finally dropped full details on its insane G63 AMG 6x6. The machine puts 544 horsepower to all six wheels thanks to a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8. A seven-speed gearbox shuttles power to the ground via three sets of portal axles, which helps give this machine a full 15.75 inches of ground clearance. By comparison, the standard G63 AMG sits with just 8.27 inches of ground clearance. The extra lift allows this 6x6 to ford nearly 40 inches of water and run massive 37-inch tires. All told, there are five differential locks on this thing, all controlled by a special "locking logic" that provides the best traction possible for any given situation.
The controls offer up three stages of locking, which we can only assume range from JKLOL to OMGWTF. Right now, AMG says this monstrosity is only a show vehicle, but we imagine it wouldn't take much to convince the team to whip up one of your very own. Check out our full gallery and the press release below for all the nitty gritty. While you're down there, you can also check out the video on the machine one more time.
