Very Clean Mercedes Benz 300D Eurobody. eBay does not recognize the correct VIN which is actually WDB1231301A248122. We have owned this car for 6 years and hate to see it go, but we recently bought a 300TD wagon which is really what we need now.

This Eurobody car has manual windows, manual sunroof and thin flush-mounted bumpers. You have to open and close the windows and sunroof with a crank and muscle power. The seats slide forward when you pull a handle and shift your weight. That's right, no electronics to foul up. It is a 5-cyclinder diesel, non-turbo, with only 196K original miles. Car runs strong and rides smooth. I personally would not hesitate to drive the car across the country and back. Just had tires put on it last summer and they have less than 7000 miles on them. This has been a very dependable Mercedes, and I have not had to do a lot of work on it outside of routine maintenance. I few years back I replaced the upper control arms and steering box. I also installed a larger fuel tank. The one that came in it was smaller than normal. There is a slow leak in the AC so the past few years I have had to add Freon. Last summer, the recharge of Freon only lasted about a month. The AC unit will definitely need some attention.

The body on this car is very straight and solid. The car has been in a minor accident a few years back. Someone ran into the front passenger fender. There was no damage to the car aside from the fender. At that point, the whole car was repainted in the original color. That was years ago and the paint job is no longer perfect as this is a family car. The eurotag does not come with the car (we will be moving it to the wagon.)

The interior looks very good for its age, a few cracks in the driver's seat and front center armrest. Also a couple of cracks in the dash. When I got the car, the back door windows are tinted. Over the years, my children have scratched up the tint with Samurai swords and Matchbox cars. But the glass is in excellent shape. You may want to remove the tinting.

I've tried my best to describe the car fully, the good, bad and ugly. Please view all pictures as they are part of my description and feel free to ask any questions. I know from experience that this Mercedes is good for another 200K. The W123 Mercedes is built like a tank, and it is not a disposable car. After you reach 400K you can rebuild the engine if necessary and keep on driving.

I am requiring a $500 Paypal deposit within 48 hours. The rest can be paid in cash upon pickup. If you are local, come take a look.

Mercedes has already booked 30k orders for new S-Class

Mon, 21 Oct 2013

When Toyota snags 30,000 Corolla orders over a three-month span, it's entirely possible we're in the midst of a global economic collapse and that the end is nigh. That's because the scale for Toyota is so very large. Mercedes-Benz, on the other hand, operates on a much smaller scale, particularly when we talk about its higher-end models, like the S-Class.
In 2012, Mercedes sold 65,000 of its flagship sedans in Germany and the EU. That's 178 units per day, for 365 days. Based on that, you can imagine the excitement at Stuttgart when it accepted 30,000 orders for the new S-Class in just three months. That's an average of 333 per day on a continent with a notoriously shaky economy. Now, admittedly, this enthusiasm could wane as the refitted S-Class becomes more common and Mercedes achieves market saturation in Europe's many chauffeur and livery services, but Mercedes isn't choosing to look at it that way.
"The new S-Class has already jumped back into the lead in terms of new vehicle registrations in Germany and its neighboring European countries," Mercedes-Benz head of sales and marketing, Ola Kaellenius, said in a statement last week.

UK workers strand car on island of asphalt to keep working

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

Generally speaking, when you illegally park your car, you're likely to get ticketed and towed, but there is probably at least one motorist in Scotland who wishes that was the case. After workers had blocked off a portion of the parking lot for the Edinburgh Waverley railway station, the driver of this Mercedes-Benz S-Class reportedly moved some of the barriers to park in one of the empty spots.
Rather than having the vehicle towed, the work crew simply tore up the asphalt around the leaving just the one parking spot intact, and as you can see in the image above (posted to the Twitter account of Harold Norstad), the crew even built a small asphalt ramp so the car could get off its blacktop pedestal. Since this happened last week, there's no word as to whether the car was eventually moved or towed for the resurfacing work to continue.
Let this be a warning...

Watch Schumacher's hot lap of N"urburgring in Mercedes F1 car

Fri, 31 May 2013

In advance of the Nürburgring 24-hour race last weekend, Mercedes-Benz put on a demonstration that had Michael Schumacher playing catch-up in a Formula One car against four examples of AMG metal. There were four cars sent off in staggered starts before Schumacher: an A45 AMG, E63 AMG 4Matic, SLS AMG Black Series, and an SLS AMG GT3 car. "Mr. Formula One," as the German television commentators call him, left three minutes after the SLS AMG GT3.
There are two videos of Schumacher's lap, the first is on-board footage - and even though there were several GoPros on the car the POV never cuts away from the front wing. You can hear the throttle and tell he's not pushing it, you can also tell how bumpy the track is. The second video is footage from the German Sport1 channel - with commentary in German - that shows all the cars taking off and takes the aerial view of proceedings. He looks to be going a lot faster in that one. You can compare and contrast yourself with the videos below.
Oh, and it's worth noting that, even with the likely restricted car, and the made-for-TV environment, Schumi turned in a quick lap. The nose camera shows the F1 car start to slow down on the back straight, near the start/finish line, right around the modern-length track record time of six minutes and eleven seconds.
