Up for auction is an 1984 Mercedes Turbo Diesel 300D. We received this car last August and had plans to keep but we have some finances that need to be managed and unfortunately we must sell this classic beauty. This Mercedes is definitely in great shape! The previous owner had kept this car garaged which is evident as the original paint from '84 still has a great shine and the interior is nice and supple. The car was bought from an estate sale after the previous owner died so unfortunately the only information I have is what came with the car which is basically everything one would receive when buying the car new from the Mercedes dealership. I have the owners manual, Bosch documents, Owners service and Warranty policy booklet, Maintenance booklet, CA registration information, all of the little information cards that are placed on a new vehicle (radio, climate control info cards, etc.). The car has 294,971 miles and cruises with no problems. There is no rust! It is driven daily until sold and thus far since we took ownership there have been no issues. The power windows, locks and a/c all work fine which seems to be an issue for some of these older Mercedes. No problems with this one! I recently had the car serviced, tuned-up and all 4 brakes replaced. I cannot think of anything that this car needs. There are two small dings which I will be sure to point out in the new photos as soon as I can upload them. I will be taking more pictures as soon as the weather clears up and the rain stops. Mercedes-Benz releases stunning first images of 2014 S-Class

The all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, designated W222, is one of the most highly anticipated debuts of its model year. Every generation of the flagship sedan has broken new ground in technology and innovation for the entire industry, and the German automaker appears determined to raise the bar much further with its latest arrival as it promises to deliver "the best automobile in the world." Mercedes-Benz has just released nearly two dozen interior images of the new sedan, showing off style in design, craftsmanship in execution and pioneering advancements in technology.
Unlike all previous generations - the first S-Class officially arrived in 1972 - the 2014 model completely discards a traditional instrument cluster and replaces it with two high-resolution color displays in 8:3 format with a screen diagonal of 12.3 inches (the outgoing model's gauges were a mix of digital and analog). The left unit displays traditional analog gauges (digitally, of course) while the right unit is reserved for infotainment and comfort settings with the automaker's all-new mBrace2 - a cloud-based entertainment and information delivery system that is rolling out this year.
SRT Viper dukes it out with Mercedes SLS Black Series in new Head 2 Head
Fri, 05 Jul 2013In Episode 36 of Motor Trend's Head 2 Head, now that the Corvette ZR1 is no more, Jonny Lieberman has to look overseas to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series for a challenger with similar philosophy to the SRT Viper: long hood hiding a high-horsepower engine set way back, rear-wheel drive, tiny trunks. That puts the Viper's 8.4-liter V10 with 640 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque against the SLS AMG's 6.2-liter V8 with 622 hp and 468 lb-ft.
However, the congruences in philosophy and magnitude of numbers doesn't translate to the driving experiences of the two, which are literally and figuratively on different continents. Lieberman gets a handle on the two of them on Northern California roads, Randy Probst then finds out how, and how quickly, they can lap Laguna Seca.
They both get kudos for being improvements on their original sources, but only one of them can take the win. You can find out by watching the video below.
Mercedes S-Class Magic Body Control ad is clucking awesome
Tue, 24 Sep 2013This is a new ad from Mercedes-Benz. At no point does it show an automobile. Instead, it stars animals, but not the sort you might normally see in car commercial. This ad is all about chickens. It is bizarre, to say the least, with Diana Ross and the Supremes belting it out in the background, but it all kind of comes together when you realize just what Mercedes is hawking (yeah, pun intended).
It's for the manufacturer's Magic Body Control, found on the new S-Class. The system basically analyzes the road and prepares the suspension accordingly, leading to a ride that is, in the words of our own Chris Paukert "nothing short of spooky."
