I am selling a 1984 Mercedes 300TD turbo diesel wagon. 1984 is considered by many as the best year of the 300 series. The body and the paint are in very nice condition. The paint really shines like on a much newer car. 192k miles is very low mileage for a 300 series diesel. These engines are legendary for their long life. This wagon always starts up right away and it drives wonderful. The engine and transmission are strong and true. I love driving it on the open highway. I recently took it on a 600 mile round trip up the California coast without any problems. A big plus is that this wagon has working, cold AIR CONDITIONING. A couple of other things it has are the 3rd row seat (seat bottom needs upholstery), tow hitch, tow wire harness and the hard to find and coveted roof rack cross bars. I have seen these cross bars sell for $500. Recent maintenance includes glow plugs, motor mounts and redoing the entire rear brakes. That includes calipers, disks, and brake pads. It would be a perfect car for somebody who would want to drive it every day, even for long distances. It would also be the perfect candidate for a bio-diesel conversion, where you can drive it on vegetable oil or even free waste oil from restaurants . Prices are already appreciating and they just do not make them like this anymore. All shipping charges would have to be paid by the winning bidder. I can also give you advice and guidance on car transport. This is a wonderful, great driving 29 year old car and as such it will be sold "as is," "where is" and WITHOUT a warranty. LOW RESERVE. Mercedes Concept GLA45 AMG is ready to run
Wed, 20 Nov 2013This is the Mercedes-Benz Concept GLA45 AMG, and what we mean by that is, "This is the Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG." Mercedes has just unveiled the liveried 'concept' at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, giving potential customers a very good look at the newest lunatic in the AMG asylum - a 355-horsepower, 332-pound-foot crossover that uses the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the CLA45 AMG and Europe's A45 AMG.
Joined with a seven-speed, AMG Speedshift dual-clutch transmission and an AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, Mercedes promises a sub-five-second run to 60 miles per hour. That's not just quick for a crossover, that's quick full stop.
That sleek, lifted body has also been tweaked by the minds at AMG's Affalterbach facility. A new rear spoiler, side sills and front clip are the primary aerodynamic tweaks. Aesthetically, AMG has fitted the requisite "Turbo" badges, gloss-black accents (including exhaust tips and roof rails) and a set of 21-inch, AMG-spec alloy wheels to round out the overall package. Based on the spy shots we've seen, expect slightly toned down aerodynamics when the GLA45 AMG arrives in showrooms.
Maybach officially discontinues all models for 2013
Tue, 14 Aug 2012The word "Maybach" has joined the long list of synonyms for the word "kaput." Mercedes-Benz released the price list for the 2013 models of its super-luxury sedans, with the price column simply stating "Discontinued" for each one of them.
The 2012 models, should there be any left for 11th-hour buyers, maintain the increased MSRPs that Daimler slapped on them late last year after it was known the brand would be terminated next year. But you might still be able to wrangle that $100,000 rebate if you ask nicely, or in Russian, or have Rick Ross ask for you.
It shouldn't be too long before we see the ultimate version of the next generation S-Class, the S600 Pullman, that will replace Maybach. Intriguingly, it's said the Pullman will be offered with every S-Class engine, even the four-cylinder diesel.
Gullwing America turns SLS AMG Roadster into stunning 1955 300 SC redux
Thu, 14 Feb 2013Gullwing America specializes in what it calls "retro styling meets modern technology." It's next demonstration of that is the convertible above, a stylized recreation of the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SC (inset) supported by the structure of a 2012 SLS AMG Roadster. Commissioned by a client in Eastern Europe, the resulting car is called the 300 SLC.
The hand-formed aluminum bodywork required just a few changes to the SLS AMG Roadster, namely reworking the headlights into a stacked arrangement of LEDs and relocating the pop-up spoiler behind the cabin. The retro grille and long, straight hood evoke the past, the custom exhaust, height-adjustable suspension, 21-inch wheels up front and 22-inch wheels in back, however, stray a little further from history. The 300 SLC will come with a hardtop and be one-of-a-kind, making it even rarer than its inspiration, of which 92 were made.
