This beautiful old car came to our family 4 years ago, with 96,000 miles from the second owner of the car, an elderly gentleman who told me he had owned it for nearly 20 years, but was selling it to purchase a Jaguar. He owns a diesel engine repair facility, so I know it was well cared for by him. He did, however, lightly scrape drivers side from drivers door back to end of car one evening going in his gated drive. I bought the car to put my daughter in so she would have something reliable that was built like a tank. In the years that I have owned it we replaced both rear axles when one of them began to hum, I put new glow plugs and rebuilt injectors in at about 105k miles, replaced belts and hoses as needed, changed oil and filter regularly (ROTELLA Diesel Oil), replaced both front shocks, and performed any other maintenance as needed. The rear accumulators need to be replaced, and I have them ordered and should receive them and get them on before the car is sold. Please note that the picture of the instrument cluster, and of the engine, were taken with car running in park with air conditioner on. I believe that show about 700 rpm and the oil pressure is pegged.
Inside the vehicle the wood trim is pretty good, with some varnish peeling. The floor mats are in excellent shape, the seats do not need recovering, the carpeting in rear is fading to a pinkish tint, the two rear pillars trim is gone, and some of the door trim is wrinkled from the Texas heat. All door and window rubber is serviceable. Windows have been tinted, and tint is good. Air conditioner is still the R 12 system and cools well. Heater is good, all windows roll up and down as they should. Original tool kit and first aid kit are in place, as well as many of the original books and records. I am probably missing something, but...
OK, I love these old diesels and this is the nicest and best one I have ever owned. With less than 125,000 miles she is a treasure for the right buyer. You all know these motors and what you can do with them. I am at that point in my life where I just want a newer car that I take to Wal-Mart for oil changes and to the dealer for anything else. I have driven nothing but Mercedes for 25 years now, and it is herd thinning time. I currently own 4 Mercedes wagons and 1 Mercedes sedan and as retirement is looming...well I want this to go to a home that will care for her until she has that million miles. As for my daughter, well we just bought a nice used S320 sedan for her.

Dartz promises own 6x6 G-Class with golden shishas and a dining room
Mon, 25 Mar 2013So you didn't really think Dartz Motorz was going to let the limited-production, 544-horsepower Mercedes 6x6 G63 AMG go without a challenge, did you? Picking up the gauntlet as only Dartz can, the Russian dream-makers have come up with the Sahara G-eopard, supposedly a special request from a buyer to make one of the 'standard' six-wheelers "more opulent and insane."
That means the vehicle from the factory gets extended by about a foot (30 centimeters), coach doors in the rear, a "yacht floor" and air conditioning that runs on its own power source, Asanti 24-inch Gold Bullion wheels and a water dispenser with Russian diamonds, which the owner will need to fill the golden shishas (hookahs) in the portable smoking room. That's right, you heard the man: a portable smoking room. Where the occupants will retire when they're finished in the portable dining room. Of course.
Yes, it will even have leopard spotting painted onto its nano-coating, and so much more. You can check out the press release below from the source. Try not to be jealous.
UK workers strand car on island of asphalt to keep working
Wed, 06 Feb 2013Generally speaking, when you illegally park your car, you're likely to get ticketed and towed, but there is probably at least one motorist in Scotland who wishes that was the case. After workers had blocked off a portion of the parking lot for the Edinburgh Waverley railway station, the driver of this Mercedes-Benz S-Class reportedly moved some of the barriers to park in one of the empty spots.
Rather than having the vehicle towed, the work crew simply tore up the asphalt around the leaving just the one parking spot intact, and as you can see in the image above (posted to the Twitter account of Harold Norstad), the crew even built a small asphalt ramp so the car could get off its blacktop pedestal. Since this happened last week, there's no word as to whether the car was eventually moved or towed for the resurfacing work to continue.
Let this be a warning...
New Die Hard movie wrecked 132 cars in $11 million chase scene [w/video]
Sat, 16 Feb 2013It would seem the act of dying hard brings with it lots of wanton destruction of the four-wheeled kind. According to John Moore, director of A Good Day To Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis, There were 132 (cars) that could never be used again. Another 518 required a lot of work. And damn right there were some good cars there... That's the fun of it."
Please join us in one great big collective sigh. Done? Okay, let's continue.
"With Die Hard it's about how audacious the action is," says Moore. "So you have to drive over a Lamborghini. An actual one. And yes it hurts me. I'm a car fanatic." Yeah. Sounds like it hurt really bad... though not as bad as the final tally after all the carnage had been counted: "Someone showed me the numbers on the car chase and soup to nuts, you put it all together it was like an $11 million sequence."
