Up for sale is my 83 300 SD. About 200,000 miles. Exterior 9/10. Interior 10/10!! I've owned the car for the past 2 years, and have put a significant amount of time and money into restoring this car. Why am i selling it? Well, I've done just about everything i can do to it. Its pretty much fully restored. I bought a another project car (91 300d 2.5T) and im ready to move on.

With this car, I took an absolutely pristine palomino interior out of a 91 300SE (w126), and installed it in this car. (carpets, seats, dashboard, center console wood, seat switches, door cards..etc) I also took the complete audio system out of the car, including speakers, amplifiers, and complete wiring harness. it is a 10 speaker system, and it sounds absolutely AMAZING. The bumpers and exterior plastic trim, is from a Late model 2nd Gen w126. Just for that updated look.
I did a valve adjustment to the engine, and replaced the injector nozzles with OE Bosch. I rebuilt the power steering pump, alternator and starter. I know these cars plastic radiators break down and crack over time, so i replaced it with a new Neeson Radiator. At the same time, i also replaced the Upper and lower hoses, water pump, thermostat, and overflow tank cap. I made Ni-chrome wire fuel heaters, and an electric boost pump on the fuel system. These can easily be turned on from under the dash in the cabin. no need for an expensive Greece Car kit. I've been able to run 100% veggie oil from spring to fall, which makes fuel pretty darn cheep.
I replaced the front ball joints, upper control arms, tie rod ends, steering damper, and steering gearbox, and the car now handles like a dream.
I removed the transmission, and had it looked over by a Mercedes specialist, and made sure all the internal components were up to par.
I replaced the front and rear brake calipers, rotors, and pads.
A few months ago i had all new Michelin tires put on.
The body is completely rust free. However, there is surface rust on the underside of the car, around suspension parts. It is NOT structural, or rusted through, and can be expected with a car that is 30+ years old. How can i tell its surface rust? When i had the interior out, i inspected the rocker panels, and floor pans down to bare metal, and no signs of rust from the inside. The rust is nothing to be worried about. Even your "rust free" California cars have some minor under body rust. But hey, at least im honest!
The AC DOES work, and it is fully charged. Before i switched it to r134a, i changed the condenser, Dryer, and Compressor, and had the system evacuated and moisture boiled out before i put the refrigerant in.

EVERYTHING in this car works, except the Tachometer, odometer, and power antenna. The radio has CD, and AUX input. I've only ever wanted to listen to my phone/ipod in the car.
The odometer died several months back, so i read that it is probably the gears that are bad. Sure enough, they were bad. So i put new gears in. That didn't fix it. So i assume that it is the Capacitors in the board, but right now I don't really see a point in me taking the time to fix it. I've never used it anyways.
I've put alot more in the car than what I've listed. I've put thousands of dollars into this car, in JUST PARTS. Not because everything has broken, but because i wanted this car to drive and look spectacular. This is not a fixer upper car. This is a car meant to be driven. After all, it is a Mercedes S class. Its the finest of luxury and German engineering that Mercedes made that decade. You're never going to find another one of these cars in this condition, or with these updated features. at least not for sale! Its worth every penny of the 6500 im asking for it, but i am willing to negotiate. Let me know if you have any questions, or if you want more pictures.

Mercedes CLA45 AMG Racing is ready for a spot on the grid

Tue, 10 Sep 2013

Mercedes-Benz trotted out its CLA45 AMG-based racer at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. We first showed you the sedan in the deluge of news and reveals that precedes most good auto shows, and were blown away by the car, formally known as the CLA45 AMG Racing Series.
We were strolling by the Mercedes stand, and figured we'd pop in and take a look at the new racer and its carbon-fiber body panels, gutted interior, and race-sourced aero parts. It's a looker, both as a road car and a track weapon. It's not clear what series the CLA45 AMG will qualify for, although it does seem like a shoe-in for the World Touring Car Championship. Let us know what you think of the CLA racer down in the comments. In the meantime, we've got a full gallery of live images up top, along with the stock images that were posted last week on the Mercedes-Benz Facebook page.

Carlsson SLK 340 Judd is winged up for hill climb glory

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

Carlsson has been expertly tuning Mercedes-Benz products for more than 20 years now, but we can't say as we remember the outfit turning out anything quite so racy as this SLK 340 Judd that it has brought along to the Geneva Motor Show this year.
This SLK is meant for competition, obviously, and Carlsson has already booked the car to race in several hill climb events in the E1 category. The purpose-built racer should have a fighting chance to do well in said races, with a shape vetted in wind tunnel testing for maximum downforce, the SLK uses a carbon-fiber bodyshell to help achieve a curb weight of just about 1,720 pounds.
The featherweight SLK's name comes from its 3.4-liter V8 engine, which churns out a wicked 610 horsepower to go with its 317 pound-feet of torque. A Hewland transmission with paddle shift operation manages all of the thrust.

Man makes record-setting drive across the US in 28 hours, 50 minutes

Fri, 01 Nov 2013

Records, as the say, are made to be broken. Whether that's cramming the most hot dogs down your gullet, running a faster mile, or yes, driving across the United States, odds are that there's someone out there wants to eat more, run faster or drive harder. Speaking of that last example, the record for driving from a set location on the east coast, in particular the Red Ball Garage in Manhattan to the Portofino Hotel in Redondo Beach, CA, has been one that has fascinated gearheads since a guy named Cannonball Baker made the trek from New York to LA in 53 hours, 30 minutes, in 1933.
The competition saw its glory days when Car and Driver's Brock Yates came up with the Cannonball Baker Sea-To-Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash (more affectionately known as the Cannonball Run), although the record was most recently set by Alex Roy and his 32-hour, seven-minute trek behind the wheel of a BMW M5 in 2006. Now, there's a new champion, who made the trip from east to west in a scarcely imaginable 28 hours and 50 minutes, behind the wheel of a 2004 Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG. That's works out to an average speed of 98 miles per hour over the course of 2,813.7 miles.
His name is Ed Bolian, and Jalopnik has a writeup of the epic voyage that details everything from the history of the Cannonball Run to Bolian's preparation and trouble finding co-drivers, to the trip itself. It is well worth a read.
