Mercedes 1985 300 Sd on 2040-cars
Asheville, North Carolina, United States
This car is only sold because I have too many cars and I just purchased a sweet 350SD. The car is in good condition. The rubber is in good shape, there are a few dings on bumpers but overall it is still an awesome car and I love it. The interior is in good shape with minor cracks on the wood and center console. The upholstery is great, as is all the glass and rubber. Updates include regular maintenance documented, all scheduled oil changes and fuel filters with quality German filters. New Bilstein shocks, rear springs, tie rods, brakes and rotors front, oil cooler lines, power steering filter serviced, fuel return lines, valves regularly serviced, new glow plugs, new headlights, transmission serviced and filter change, various relays, front seats re stuffed, new blower, climate control servo, fuel shutoff, mono valve, injector dampening bolt. I performed some oil and fuel filter changes and all other work was done at Euro Spec in Asheville, they know this car. I am sure there are other things but I cant remember, it’s a great running car and one of the most iconic engines ever built, I would love to keep this car but I have too many. The speedometer does not work but I am guessing the car has about 175-180,000 miles. I have done all the mechanical bits and you get to enjoy the smooth ride at my expense. I will take great pleasure to know that someone will take this car to the next level, as I was getting ready to do, it is a true classic, the last year of the 617, 5 cylinder Diesel. I ran B-20 in the car a few times and B-99 once, other than that it has been regular diesel with lots of shots of cetane boost. . The things that are wrong with the car include slight cracking on some of the wood trim, and center console, the dash has minor cracks. The exterior has a few dings and the bumpers could stand to be sprayed. The bottom of the driver door has some rust, it is not visible except on the Driver door threshold. I was getting ready to take the car to the body shop to have this repaired and the gray trim sprayed, but I bought the 350 SD instead. This car needs a trip to the body shop to make her look awesome, the engine is top notch. The paint is good and not faded and cleans up really well. The car will need new tires sooner than later. I have driven this car all over KY and IN and would not hesitate to drive it anywhere, this is an awesome car. These cars do require some maintenance in order for everything to work properly, hopefully this car will go to an enthusiast and not someone that will run it into the ground, but whoever brings cash will be the winner. Good title ready to go. The 1985 300sd is cool, looks great, classic style, clean lines, awesome engine, and she will hold her own at the valet stand and for 15% the cost of a new car. How many 85 Buicks do see on the road that look this good. |

Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG formalize technical partnership
Thu, 19 Dec 2013The development of a partnership between Mercedes-Benz and Aston Martin has been a long time coming. The news dates back to 2008, and over the five years since was supposed to lead to a rejuvenation of both the Maybach and Lagonda brands. That program ultimately fell apart, but the tie-in was forged afresh in July when the two automakers signed a letter of intent over a renewed partnership. And now that partnership has been formalized.
In a deal just announced, Mercedes-AMG will build a new V8 engine for Aston Martin that will power a new generation of luxury GTs for the British marque, presumably to replace the 4.7-liter V8 in the Vantage. The relationship appears to be similar to the one already in place between AMG and Pagani, only in this case, will involve Daimler taking as much as a five-percent stake in Aston Martin and an observer seat on Aston's board.
The technical partnership is also set to lead to the supply of electric and electronic systems, and could incorporate "additional areas of cooperation in the future." Whether that will include a fresh attempt at reviving Lagonda remains to be seen, as does the future of Aston's long-serving, Ford-based 6.0-liter V12 engine. But for now you can read the full announcement below.
Mercedes says it's tops in luxury sales for 2012, not BMW
Tue, 19 Feb 2013It turns out that Mercedes-Benz North America has legitimate claim to being the top selling luxury nameplate in the US in 2012.
While sources such as Autodata had put BMW in the top spot, registration data from R.L. Polk shows that Mercedes customers registering new vehicles topped the Bavarian automaker in the most recent calendar year. Polk says Benz posted 274,123 registrations, compared with BMW's 268,498.
In terms of sales posted, BMW had bested Benz 281,460 to 274,134. But sales are recorded somewhat inconsistently from automaker to automaker. Some book the sales as soon as they are shipped from factory to dealer. There is perennial gamesmanship between the two German rivals, and the sales numbers suggest that BMW pushed out some extra sheetmetal to dealers in the last four weeks of the year.
2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class interior caught in spy shots
Tue, 29 Jan 2013With the redesigned 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class getting closer to production, the camera-wielding crew over at Autospies somehow managed to get inside of the car to snap some detailed spy shots. As the prototypes continue to shed camouflage, it would appear that Mercedes-Benz is getting closer to unveiling the car, and with the Geneva and New York auto shows coming up, it could be sooner rather than later.
From what we can see of this car's interior, the overall look of the S-Class' cabin isn't a ground-breaking departure from the current car, but it has been completely redesigned with more advanced technology. The styling is now even more upscale with larger swaths of wood, more shapely door panels (without the built-in armrest cubbies) and the concept-like two-spoke steering wheel. The highlight of this car though is probably the two massive digital screens with one being used for driver information and the other used for navigation, audio and infotainment systems. One other detail we noticed about this car is that it was equipped with the new 360-degree camera that debuted on the new GL-Class and will also be used on the 2014 E-Class. We also know that the next-gen S-Class will be getting the new cloud-based MBrace2 infotainment system.
As for the exterior design, it looks like the next S-Class will carry a similar profile as the current car, but we can see through the camouflage that the new styling will fit in better with current Mercedes-Benz products. Up front, the grille is much larger is flanked by aggressive LED-trimmed headlights, while the rear view of the car shows us the LED brake light now at the top of the rear window, a more pointed trunk opening and a more squared-off rear fascia with exhaust outlets pushed to the corners.
