CARFAX CERTIFIED & GUARANTEED 2003 Mercedes Benz CL55 AMG V8 Kompressor Supercharged 65K 2 OWNER MILES
The Mercedes-Benz CL is a coupe with graceful lines and an aggressive stance that suggests an iron fist in a velvet glove.
The 2003 AMG kicked things up almost 200 notches from the 2002 CL55. The addition of an intercooled screw-type supercharger and a slightly longer stroke results in 5.5 liters, 493 horsepower, and 516 lb-ft of torque. Compare those numbers to your ultimate American or German production sports car. This is serious pavement-buckling, tire boiling addictive-sound-like-you've-never-heard-before kind of performance--all from a bank-vault-solid premium luxury coupe.
A stainless-steel, 2.75-inch four-cat dual-exhaust system efficiently scavenges all that air and lends the car its signature voice. Behind this potent mill is the Mercedes electronically controlled five-speed automatic, upgraded to AMG status. The SpeedShift programming delivers 35-percent-quicker shifts, with gear changes manually controllable from two steering-wheel-mounted buttons. Mercedes' ABC active suspension and ESP stability-control systems also are programmed with a more spirited AMG calibration. Big 20-inch Z-rated tires and large, cross-drilled brake discs with eight-piston front calipers complete the ground-hugging hardware.
Doors on coupes are
usually long, massive and unwieldy. To address this, Mercedes uses lightweight
magnesium for the door frames, and mounts the doors on articulating hinges that
slide them forward as they open. So ingress and egress is much easier than in
comparable cars.

Mercedes-Benz releases stunning first images of 2014 S-Class
Mon, 18 Mar 2013
The all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, designated W222, is one of the most highly anticipated debuts of its model year. Every generation of the flagship sedan has broken new ground in technology and innovation for the entire industry, and the German automaker appears determined to raise the bar much further with its latest arrival as it promises to deliver "the best automobile in the world." Mercedes-Benz has just released nearly two dozen interior images of the new sedan, showing off style in design, craftsmanship in execution and pioneering advancements in technology.
Unlike all previous generations - the first S-Class officially arrived in 1972 - the 2014 model completely discards a traditional instrument cluster and replaces it with two high-resolution color displays in 8:3 format with a screen diagonal of 12.3 inches (the outgoing model's gauges were a mix of digital and analog). The left unit displays traditional analog gauges (digitally, of course) while the right unit is reserved for infotainment and comfort settings with the automaker's all-new mBrace2 - a cloud-based entertainment and information delivery system that is rolling out this year.
Watch Schumacher's hot lap of N"urburgring in Mercedes F1 car
Fri, 31 May 2013In advance of the Nürburgring 24-hour race last weekend, Mercedes-Benz put on a demonstration that had Michael Schumacher playing catch-up in a Formula One car against four examples of AMG metal. There were four cars sent off in staggered starts before Schumacher: an A45 AMG, E63 AMG 4Matic, SLS AMG Black Series, and an SLS AMG GT3 car. "Mr. Formula One," as the German television commentators call him, left three minutes after the SLS AMG GT3.
There are two videos of Schumacher's lap, the first is on-board footage - and even though there were several GoPros on the car the POV never cuts away from the front wing. You can hear the throttle and tell he's not pushing it, you can also tell how bumpy the track is. The second video is footage from the German Sport1 channel - with commentary in German - that shows all the cars taking off and takes the aerial view of proceedings. He looks to be going a lot faster in that one. You can compare and contrast yourself with the videos below.
Oh, and it's worth noting that, even with the likely restricted car, and the made-for-TV environment, Schumi turned in a quick lap. The nose camera shows the F1 car start to slow down on the back straight, near the start/finish line, right around the modern-length track record time of six minutes and eleven seconds.
First official shot of Mercedes S-Class Coupe leaks out
Mon, 10 Feb 2014With the official debut for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe expected tomorrow, it shouldn't be a surprise that some clicky fingers have already managed to uncover an official image of the car before the unveiling. Outside of this sole image, though, there's precious little detail on the new car.
First posted by Autofilou and then picked up by WorldCarFans, the production S-Class Coupe isn't far off from the concept car we saw a few months back in Frankfurt. Like the concept, the leggy production model appears related, albeit distantly, to the S-Class Sedan. The hood and front fascia are longer and lower, befitting of a two-door, while the character lines in the profile are more pronounced. Obviously, the beltline and slim, B-pillarless greenhouse are coupe-only items. We can't see any details on the back of the car, although it does appear that the long hood has a correspondingly short rear deck.
We'll have all the details on the official replacement for the CL-Class when it makes its full debut tomorrow. Until then, what do you think of this lone image? Does it appear that Mercedes has got it right? In terms of design, where would you rank this with the departing CL-Class? Have your say in Comments.
