UP FOR AUCTION IS A 1997 MERCEDES E320, 4 DOOR, GOLD COLOR, WITH TAN INTERIOR. IT HAS 200,285 MILES ON IT AND IT RUNS EXCELLENT, I ALWAYS PUT SYNTHETIC OIL IN IT, THIS CAR HAS BEEN FAMILY OWNED, I HAD JUST SPENT $650 ON BRAND NEW TIRES ON IT, THEY HAVE LESS THAN 50 MILES ON THEM, I HAD REPLACED THE MASS AIRFLOW WHICH COSTED $400, AND ALL THE OXYGEN SENSORS WHICH COSTED ANOTHER $400, A WEEK LATER THE TRANNY WENT INTO LIMP MODE SO IT ONLY DRIVES IN FIRST AND REVERSE, I BROUGHT IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE SAID IT WAS IN LIMP MODE, I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO HAVE IT FIXED, AND I'M LOOKING TO GET A TRUCK NOW SO ITS TIME TO GO. THE MOTOR RUNS EXCELLENT, COME TAKE A LOOK AT AND SEE FOR YOURSELF, IT HAS THE EURO GRILL ON THE FRONT, THIS IS A VERY SHARP LOOKING CAR, IN MY OPINION, THE E320 WILL NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE, BUT GERMAN CARS ARE ALITTLE TO EXPENSIVE FOR ME. THE INTERIOR IS CLEAN, DRIVER SEAT SHOWS ITS WEAR BUT THE OTHERS LOOK GREAT. HAS A SUN ROOF, NO LEAKS, POWER EVERYTHING. TINTED WINDOWS, THIS IS A GREAT CAR FOR SOMEBODY WHO IS HANDY AND KNOWS THESE CARS. Mercedes calls CLA 'best launch in 20 years' as it warns dealers of tight supplies
Fri, 13 Dec 2013It's still in the early going, but it's looking more and more like the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA is a verifiable home run for the German brand. According to a new report from Bloomberg, the new small car isn't just widening the sales gap between Mercedes and BMW, it's attracting a new, younger breed of customers into the brand's showrooms. But that early success is straining supplies of the turbocharged four-door.
Dealers have been warned that the first half of 2014 will see limited supplies for CLA, with a letter to dealers indicating that "tight inventories and low days supply" will exist from February through June, despite the car's Kecskemét, Hungary plant running at full tilt.
"This is our best launch in 20 years," said Steve Cannon, the US boss for Mercedes. "The CLA has been a phenomenal success right out of the gate." The numbers certainly support that. We reported in early October that Mercedes moved 2,300 CLAs in its first week on sale, and now Bloomberg is saying CLA sales were almost singlehandedly responsible for Benz's November sales gains. Mercedes' annual sales are up 14 percent through the November, and it's enjoying a healthy 7,600-car lead over BMW.
2014 Mercedes SL and SLK add small expansion to Takata airbag recall
Fri, 11 Jul 2014Mercedes-Benz is the latest automaker to be affected by Takata's massive airbag recall. The company has announced a voluntary recall campaign on a small number of model-year 2014 SLK- and SL-Class roadsters.
In Mercedes' case, 300 vehicles are affected, 200 of which are in the hands of customers. According to spokesperson Donna Boland, the affected roadsters were built between March and April of this year.
The issue, which is apparently the fault of one of Takata's subcontractors, rests with some improperly installed fasteners, which could keep the airbag from performing the way it's supposed to. According to Boland, Mercedes isn't sure what, if any, injuries the recalled airbags could cause, but simply claims there's an increased risk in these particular vehicles. There's been no reported instances of the faulty airbags deploying on a customer and the original issue was found in a production test.
