We have owned and driven this vehicle since 2005. It has been very reliable and all regular maintenance has been performed. This E430 is equipped with the Sport Styling package which includes Sport Front and Rear Bumpers and Rocker Moldings. The vehicle is in excellent condition. The exterior was freshly repainted in 2009 and contains only a few chips on the front end from normal wear. The passenger rear wheel also has a few chips. The interior remains clean and free from major defects. The drivers seat shows some signs of wear from getting in and out of the vehicle. The passenger side rear door trim panel has a couple of small tears in the leather. The original factory floor mats are in good condition showing some signs of normal wear mostly on the drivers mat.

This vehicle was in a front end collision in July, 2004. The damage was to the front left side of the vehicle and no airbags were deployed. After the repairs were completed, the State of North Carolina deemed the vehicle an economic total loss. We purchased the vehicle with 78,400 miles on it, after the repairs had been completed, with a rebuilt title. The vehicle was inspected in 2005 when the rebuilt title was issued. In 2009, the vehicle was completely refinished to correct some various wear and tear dings and scratches. The refinish was professionally done disassembling each panel prior to refinish. Since it was repainted, it has been driven only in the summer months never exposed to winter conditions, and it has been garage kept(heated) and under a cover when stored for any length of time. The adhesive nameplates have not been installed, but I have the originals if interested. The rear taillights have been upgraded to an aftermarket LED design. Because of the low amperage draw of the LED lights, a false notification is illuminated on the dash indicating that there is a lamp out. This can be corrected with an inline resistor. I will include the original taillights if interested. Also, within the past 6 months, the SRS Airbag light intermittently illuminates on the dash. I diagnosed the problem and found that the passenger side occupancy sensor located in the passenger seat needs replaced.

Mercedes Sprinter updated to take on Ford Transit, Ram ProMaster

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

By the end of this year, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter will be the second-oldest nameplate in its segment here in the States, but with hot new competition waiting in the wings, Mercedes-Benz is giving its hauler a freshened look and more equipment to stave off rivals. The Sprinter was a pioneer in bringing Euro-style delivery vans to North America, and it's inspired others to transplant their Continental offerings, with the all-new Ford Transit and Ram Promaster models launching shortly. It will also continue to do battle with lower-cost traditional competitors like the Chevrolet Express and Ford E-Series.
The big Sprinter will thus get a new look to go with more safety features and available technology. While the information released here technically covers the Euro-spec 2013 Sprinter (which goes on sale in September), the US market is expected to get the new Sprinter for the 2014 model year with many of the same features. Some of this new technology includes a Crosswind Assist feature as standard equipment and the availability of Collision Prevention Assist and Blind Spot Assist as optional safety measures - Mercedes-Benz says that all three are firsts for any van in the world. Also added to the updated Sprinter is a new 1.8-liter supercharged gasoline (or CNG) engine producing 156 horsepower, which will complement the line of diesel engines that carry over and help make the Sprinter the first cargo van to meet the upcoming Euro VI emissions standards. Additionally, a lower ride height is said to improve fuel economy and should improve handling while aiding ingress and egress for both people and cargo.
In terms of styling, the Sprinter's new face also looks more like the current line of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. This includes a more upright grille along with changes to the hood, headlights and bumper that lend it a closer kinship to models like the CLS-Class and the updated E-Class. The Sprinter will offer both halogen and HID headlights, while the latter will get LED running lamps and offer Highbeam Assist. The images shown here only reveal the exterior from front angles, but it looks like few, if any, changes have been made to the rear of the van. Interior upgrades include a thicker steering wheel, a new shift lever and the latest in audio, navigation and entertainment systems. Scroll down for the official press release for the new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.

Brabus 800 Roadster is a power-mad aristocrat

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

If we're being completely honest, we haven't exactly been in love with the aesthetics of the sixth-generation Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. It's mostly a front-end issue, with its glowering eagle-eye headlamps and upright, dinner-plate-sized Three-Pointed Star coming across to us as overwrought. That's particularly troublesome for a roadster whose history has of the most elegant designs of all time in its back catalog. Somehow, the new R231 generation's brash visuals seem more at home on this Brabus 800 Roadster to us.
That's probably because the high-dollar German tuner has turned up the wick on the SL's visuals even further, with carbon fiber bodywork, a more aggressive aero kit, matte hood scoop and complex two-finish wheels. It's all-the-way committed to its brashness, in other words - and justifiably so. Anything with 800 horsepower and 1,047 pound-feet of torque has earned the right to look however it wants, right?
Brabus started with the SL65 and its not-exactly-underpowered 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12, and went to town, fitting their own turbocharger and intercooler system, along with a less-restrictive exhaust system with driver-selectable sound levels and new engine electronics. The result is a 3.7-second 0-62 mph time, an electronically limited top whack of 217 mph... and one seriously compromised toupée.

Maybach could become Mercedes-Benz sub-brand

Wed, 22 Jun 2011

When you're arriving in a twin-turbocharged, twelve-cylinder Maybach limo, there's no reason you should ever have to be late. Except, maybe, to make a fashionable entrance. But up at the corporate level, the entire Maybach brand is being slowed down as critical decisions about its future are being undertaken.
Last week, we reported that a decision on what path Maybach would take going forward would be due at the start of next month, but the latest reports indicate that the timeframe has been extended as further options are being considered.
The previous options under consideration were twofold: either relaunch the brand with production outsourced to Aston Martin - which suddenly finds itself with excess production capacity - or shut it down completely. And those are still two very real options. Word has it that Aston has put together four concept cars for the Daimler brass to consider, all based on the next-generation S-Class platform (and thankfully not the old one).
