2002 Silver Mercedes E320 Special Edition on 2040-cars
Lumberton, North Carolina, United States
I have loved this problem-free, great-performing car, and intended to drive it for several more years, but have unexpectedly inherited an almost-new car from a family member. I bought this car in 2009, put a catalytic converter on one side, and have had to do virtually nothing but routine maintenance since then. Several great things about this car: It was the last year of this classic body style, and after 6 six years, any kinks this series ever had, which seem to have been few anyway, had been resolved. Apparently to celebrate the final year, this Special Edition was produced with: great looking (and unique) 17" wheels, black tiger's eye walnut interior trim, and an upgraded stereo. I did just have replaced the cd changer, front shocks and brake pads. 2 years ago I did have a run in with a deer, but had come to almost a complete stop. It did require new front bumper, hood & left headlight, basically superficial (and done by the premier shop in town). I cracked the left front spoiler on a curb; totally unnoticeable with 2" of duct tape - you laugh but the pictures speak for themselves! Headliner separating slightly; currently tacked up and basically presentable. Car runs great. Gets 30-31 on the road. Was going to replace motor mounts as a preventative measure, but misread the order form and received 1 instead of 2; it's included (has not been installed). Light scratches on 1 or 2 wheels; only noticeable up close. All told a lot of car for the money. The tax value on the car is $6k. Average miles (15k / yr) would be 180 and it has under 140. Mobil 1 synthetic every 3-4k. Tires are fine, a little noisy; will probably need replacing within a year. Washed and waxed regularly. Bought new MB mats about 3 yrs ago ($150). Front license plate does not go with car. Appears to have been NC & VA car most of its life. Clean NC title in hand. Questions? 910.620.0358 |

New Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe spied in revealing state of dress
Tue, 19 Feb 2013During a product briefing earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz told us that 2013 would be the "year of the S-Class." Makes sense, too, since the flagship Mercedes is so very close to finally showing its production-ready face. But the high-tech saloon isn't the only S-Class to talk about this year - quite the contrary. Seen here in decidedly revealing camouflage, the new S-Class Coupe will be joining its four-door compadre in the not-too-distant future, as well.
When it launches, the S-Class Coupe will officially do away with the CL-Class nomenclature. This doesn't come as a huge shock. After all, when the new E-Class coupe and convertible were launched, it officially marked the end of the long-running CLK-Class designation.
Thanks to the interesting camouflage seen here, we have a very good glimpse at how the S-Class Coupe will look when all of the molding and swirly paper are peeled off. Rakish body lines pulled from the CLS-Class meet a much more dynamic front fascia. Out back, there are horizontal taillamps rather than the vertical units used on the current car, and the whole package seems very svelte. Our spy photographer even posits that this will be "the best-looking car from Mercedes-Benz in ages."
Mercedes was set to sell version of Nissan Titan, now Infiniti might instead
Wed, 18 Sep 2013Mercedes-Benz Titan. Mercedes-Benz Frontier. Mercedes-Benz pickup truck. None of these things roll off the tongue particularly well. We'd like to think that's the reason Daimler opted to kill the idea of rebadged Titan and Frontier pickups from corporate ally Nissan. In reality, the execution before the Frankfurt Motor Show was due to more complicated issues.
Yes, Mercedes, byword for German luxury, style and quality, would have slapped a three-pointed star on a pair of Japanese pickup trucks that have failed to resonate with consumers in the world's largest truck market. That slapping of badges isn't much of an exaggeration, at least on the outside. According to the report from Road & Track, the truck's front clip would have been tweaked, but beyond that, the sheetmetal would have been unchanged. The interior would have received a more thorough going-over by the team at Mercedes, while the suspension and noise, vibration and harshness tuning would have also received significant attention.
The trucks would have ended up being sold through the light-commercial branch of Mercedes-Benz - the same folks that will happily sell you a Sprinter van - had the deal gone through. Issues arose, though, first with the engines. Mercedes wanted a wider range of powertrains to allow it to tune models for specific markets, while Nissan said it couldn't engineer the wide variety of engines that MB wanted to drop under the hood. For the smaller truck, meanwhile, MB was interested in a hybrid or plug-in variant, according to R&T, although this was also shot down by Nissan.
Mercedes CLA45 AMG Racing is ready for a spot on the grid
Tue, 10 Sep 2013Mercedes-Benz trotted out its CLA45 AMG-based racer at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. We first showed you the sedan in the deluge of news and reveals that precedes most good auto shows, and were blown away by the car, formally known as the CLA45 AMG Racing Series.
We were strolling by the Mercedes stand, and figured we'd pop in and take a look at the new racer and its carbon-fiber body panels, gutted interior, and race-sourced aero parts. It's a looker, both as a road car and a track weapon. It's not clear what series the CLA45 AMG will qualify for, although it does seem like a shoe-in for the World Touring Car Championship. Let us know what you think of the CLA racer down in the comments. In the meantime, we've got a full gallery of live images up top, along with the stock images that were posted last week on the Mercedes-Benz Facebook page.
