Awesome Mercedes R500 Wagon.  Full time All wheel drive, Loaded with everything;  All leather interior, wood trim, heated seats, dvd player, navigation, upgraded stereo, 3rd row seating, air ride suspension with push button ride height adjustment, panoramic roof, auto liftgate, power everything, homelink, memory seats, tri zone climate control, power rear vent windows, heated rear seats, separate rear audio and headphone jacks/ rear entertainment, rear power outlets, steering wheel controls, automatic wipers, on and on and on.  This is a top of the line Mercedes R series, which retailed over $70K new.  This car is in really good shape. The air suspension has been completely replaced.  New fuel pump last month.  I have all of the maintenance paperwork.  With the exception of replacing brake pads last year, all maintenance has been performed at the Mercedes dealership.  This is a great family car and is actually quite sporty.  You wont believe how well this car handles and corners for such a large, heavy car.

There is a slight crack on the right rear bumper from an accident in 2006.  You'll see it in the pictures.  Some of the carpeting is stained as seen in the pictures and there is a slight tear in the leather on the front console.  There is a little ding in the right rear door.  Other than that, the car is is in amazing condition.  It runs really well.  The extended warranty is good until January 2014 or until 100,000.  It covers almost everything.  I can email you a copy of the coverage if you would like as it is tranferable.

Exterior 9 out of 10 - due to having to have the rear bumper cracked and ding in door
Engine 10 out of 10 - no issues
Electronics 10 out of 10 - no issues
Interior 9 out of 10 - Only issue is carpeting and tiny tear in console leather
Tires - Good
Brakes - Good
Audio - Awesome
AC - Perfect
All lights work, just replaced the drive front parking light

Let me know if you have any questions.

Next Mercedes-Benz C-Class spotted in the snow

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

The entry-level Mercedes-Benz C-Class has long felt like nothing more than, well, just that. Aside from the potent and delicious C63 AMG models, there hasn't been much to set the C-Class apart in the entry-level luxury/sport segment, leading to the model being regarded by many as "The Cheap Mercedes." No, it's certainly not a bad car, but for our money, it hasn't stood up particularly well to competitors like the BMW 3 Series or Audi A4.
So with the handsome new CLA-Class coming to round off the entry-level end for Mercedes-Benz, big plans are in store for the C-Class. We can see some evidence of that in this latest set of spy shots from our friends at CarPix. According to earlier reports, the new C-Class will be "far more dramatic" in the visuals department, and while the sedan's sculpting is still covered by camo, the much sleeker headlamp design we see here is, at the very least, a good start. The car's overall size is expected to grow a bit to further distance itself from the CLA, though thanks to lightweight materials, curb weight isn't expected to increase.
Just like the current model, the new C-Class is expected to use four- and six-cylinder engines, both gas- and diesel-fed, and overall power output for the global engine range should span from 120-ish on the low end to as much as 330. These new engines are expected to be mounted lower and farther rearward than before, offering better balance for both rear- and 4Matic all-wheel drive configurations. And as for that AMG? Rumors suggest a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 will fall underhood.

Clark Gable's 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing doesn't sell, then does sell for $1.85 million [UPDATE: w/video]

Sat, 19 Jan 2013

How much extra value does previous celebrity ownership add to of a car? Really, there's no way to know until the car in question hits the auction block and bidders start raising their hands. In the case of the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing you see above, the celebrity owner is none other than Clark Gable, who purchased it new. After Gable's death in 1960, the car changed hands a few times before settling with Charles Wood in 1975.
A high-dollar restoration was performed in 1989, and period accessories added by Gable himself were kept in place, including the Rudge knock-off wheels and Nardi steering wheel. Any Mercedes-Benz 300SL is worth a big chunk of money. In the case of Clark Gable's old Gullwing, the bidding stalled at $1.9 million here at the 2013 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale. As one of the 5000-series cars, this 300SL carried a reserve, and a bit of after-the-fact dealmaking saw the car change hands for $1.85 million.
You can see our high-res image gallery above, and the car's official auction description below.

Maybach officially discontinues all models for 2013

Tue, 14 Aug 2012

The word "Maybach" has joined the long list of synonyms for the word "kaput." Mercedes-Benz released the price list for the 2013 models of its super-luxury sedans, with the price column simply stating "Discontinued" for each one of them.
The 2012 models, should there be any left for 11th-hour buyers, maintain the increased MSRPs that Daimler slapped on them late last year after it was known the brand would be terminated next year. But you might still be able to wrangle that $100,000 rebate if you ask nicely, or in Russian, or have Rick Ross ask for you.
It shouldn't be too long before we see the ultimate version of the next generation S-Class, the S600 Pullman, that will replace Maybach. Intriguingly, it's said the Pullman will be offered with every S-Class engine, even the four-cylinder diesel.
