PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO FOLLOW THROUGH!!!*** You are bidding on my 2007 S550 which I custom ordered back in July 2006 (delivered 09/2006). It is a 1 owner car and guaranteed to have been in 0 accidents. The car is in great condition overall and has always been garage kept and detailed/waxed many times over its life. It has been serviced by the local MB dealer following the manual and I always performed the "additional" services they recommend. Some of these include: -March 2012 with 69,436 miles - Front Brakes, New Battery, New Engine Air Filters, Service "B". -Feb 2011 with 59,104 miles - New transmission clutches and valve body. Alignment, BG Brake Flush, BG Coolant Flush, BG Fuel System Flush. -July 2010 with 51,271 miles - Rear Brakes, BG Flushes The car was inspected by the dealer in December 2013 when I ordered my 2014 S550 and they did not find any problems or recommend any repairs. The car is highly optioned and stickered for $104,950 total. This includes $102,000 for the car, then dealer installed options of chrome wheels ($2500) and bluetooth ($450) were added. Factory options were: -AMG Sport Package (AMG Light Alloy wheels, AMG bodykit, AMG exhaust) -Premium 2 Package (vented seats, satellite radio, Parktronic, Keyless Go) -Drive Dynamic Multicontour seats w/massage -Night View Assist (nightvision camera) -Premium Leather interior in Savanna/Cashmere -Panorama Sunroof -Electronic trunk closer I have taken many high resolution pictures which can be seen here: http://s592.photobucket.com/user/MyPhotobucket77/library/S550 You can see the interior is very clean with minimal wear and tear. The Premium Leather Seats are soft and supple with no rips or tears. The dash and wood trim look like new, the A/C is ice cold, the Harman Kardon stereo sounds great and all options such as navigation, power seats, windows, etc are functional. The backseat has minimal wear and was used more often for groceries than people. There is Night Vision which is a very cool feature! The exterior of the car is equally nice. The color is called Flint Grey and is a beautiful metallic grey. It looks stunning with the AMG bodykit and chrome wheels. The paint has a nice shine and there are no dents on the car. The panorama sunroof lets lots of light in when you want or the shades can be closed on those hot days. The chrome wheels are in good condition with a mirror shine and no curb rash. As with any 7 year old used car, there are a couple of small dings and I have pictured the worst. The hood and rear passenger side door have a small paint chip (see ink pen for size reference). The rear bumper also has a couple of small chips and a slight impression from backing into textured stucco (all circled in yellow). These flaws are minor and can easily be touched up. Overall, the car looks great and you should be impressed! The car is being sold AS IS with NO RESERVE and will need to be picked up in Tampa, FL. Aston Martin signs Letter of Intent for technical partnership with AMG
Thu, 25 Jul 2013A little over two months ago came reports that Daimler and Aston Martin were in talks, again, about "supply and technical-cooperation agreements." The next step has been taken with Aston Martin announcing that it has signed a Letter of Intent that looks "towards a technical partnership" with Mercedes-AMG GmbH, and the two companies aiming to have definitive agreements done by year's end.
While it will get to use certain electric and electronic components from AMG, the true golden egg for the maker of the Vanquish will be the ability to develop a new line of "bespoke V8 powertrains" that will be fitted to "a new generation of models." In return for opening up the larder, Daimler will get a non-voting stake of up to five percent of Aston Martin.
Nothing else is being said about the tie-up for the moment, but there's a press release below with a few more details.
YouTube's Super Bowl commercial buzz list dominated by automakers [w/videos]
Thu, 31 Jan 2013After Sunday's big game, YouTube will be the place to watch every commercial that you missed when you left your seat for an emergency guac refill or, as we say in Cleveland, took the Browns to the Super Bowl. That makes YouTube the nation's water cooler on Monday, and it's got some preliminary stats to share in the lead up to kickoff.
As you know, Super Bowl advertisers, particularly automakers, like to endlessly tease their big budget commercials in the weeks before the game, many times revealing them outright days in advance. Because of this, YouTube can tell us which commercials have been viewed the most so far, and their top five list is all automakers.
Kaley Cuoco appears to have been a good investment for Toyota, as her ad for the RAV4 has garnered the most YouTube views - six million and counting - among Super Bowl commercials so far. Second place goes to Mercedes-Benz, though not its actual Super Bowl commercial, but rather the teaser for it. You know, the one with Kate Upton and the car washing, which is up to 5.6 million views. Third place is Audi's Prom commercial (3.3M views), fourth goes to Volkswagen's slightly controversial Get In, Get Happy ad (3.3M views), and the fifth and final spot is bookended by the teaser video for Kaley Cuoco's commercial (3.2M views). Daimler names Bernd Pischetsrieder to supervisory board
Mon, 14 Apr 2014Some executives in the automotive industry stay with one company for their entire careers, while others bounce from one to the other, often leaving their indelible mark on each automaker at which they serve. Bob Lutz is certainly an example of the latter. So is Lee Iacocca, having presided over Ford and later charing the Chrysler board. Carlos Tavares was chief operating officer of Renault before being nominated as chief executive at PSA Peugeot Citroën. But as far as the Germans go, nobody's jumped from the leadership of one automaker to the next quite like Bernd Pischetsrieder - especially now that he's been named to the supervisory board of Mercedes-Benz parent company Daimler.
An engineer by training, Pischetsrieder started his career at BMW in 1973, eventually rising to the office of CEO after twenty years. There he remained until 1999, only to be dismissed after orchestrating BMW's takeover of the Rover Group (of which only the Mini brand remains in the company's portfolio, the other brands having been sold off after his dismissal).
The next year he was named chairman of Volkswagen's Seat brand, and rose to the chairmanship of the entire Volkswagen Group two years later. Despite a largely successful four-year tenure (that gave birth, incidentally, to the Bugatti Veyron), disagreements with supervisory board chairman Ferdinand Piëch saw him leave the helm at VW AG, focusing his attention on the Scania truck division. He's since been touted as a potential chief executive for Opel and for Continental, but neither potential was apparently realized.
