The story behind this car is great- It was a birthday gift, purchased new off the showroom floor in 1979 with all the bells and whistles,  and delivered with a big bow! The woman babied the car from day 1- garaged from Sept.- May every year. It lived in Colorado its' whole life, guaranteed 100% rust free. I purchased the car from the deceased  woman's estate and have done a "rolling restoration" on it. The original paint had failed, so it was completely removed- down to the original German steel. All trim, lights, door panels, windshield wipers, chrome pieces, etc. were removed for the new paint job.

NEW: Professional 7 layer original paint. Deep pleated leather seats. A/C system. Radiator. Servo Unit (Climate control  system works flawlessly- A/C blows cold, heater really heats!). All fluids were drained, flushed and replaced, full tune up on the engine, all filters replaced, new Bosch spark plugs, etc. All work was done by the same German mechanic that worked on the car for the last 30 years. I have full documentation of the work. You are welcome to contact the mechanic and the shop that did the paint job.

This car starts, runs, drives and looks like new! It is a real head turner. I don't drive it much, but when i do, i get compliments left and right. This car looks like the day it rolled off the showroom floor.

Mercedes mulling Renault-based entry-level X-Class?

Sun, 17 Mar 2013

Somewhere in between the Smart brand and the all-new A-Class (pictured above), Daimler is said to be readying a smaller entry-level product for the Mercedes-Benz brand to compete with models like the Audi A1. According to AutoBild, Mercedes-Benz will get a new hatchback based on a platform from its recent partnership with Renault-Nissan, and it could be called the X-Class.
Expected to debut by 2018, the Mercedes-Benz X-Class could be offered in sedan, hatchback and crossover variants, and it would likely have a starting price below the $20,000-euro mark. Power would come from either a 1.0-liter inline three-cylinder engine or a 1.5-liter inline-four, and the car would likely be built in a low-cost nation in order to make the financials work. Wearing the Mercedes-Benz name, the X-Class would have to exhibit more distinguishable luxury and styling to set itself apart from the models that helped provide its underpinnings.

Mercedes considering GLA-based crossover coupe

Wed, 30 Apr 2014

BMW opened a whole Pandora's Box when it introduced the X6 back in 2008. Sure it made little sense, sacrificing all that "utility" for a little more "sport," but it's been a solid success for BMW - especially considering the nominal expense it cost to develop the X6 on top of the X5 on which it's based. Little wonder that, while BMW has already followed up with a smaller version in the form of the X4, other automakers are starting to catch up. And that includes Mercedes-Benz.
The German automaker is preparing to launch a new MLC, based on the M-Class but with a sportier silhouette, and previewed it with the Concept Coupe SUV at the Beijing Motor Show. But that's just the start, according to the latest report from Automotive News Europe.
Mercedes is reportedly considering spinning off an entire line of crossovers more for use on the road than off it. Which may go without saying for most crossovers on the market, but considering the Geländwagen with which Mercedes got its start in SUVs, would mean an even further departure than it has undertaken already.

Maybach lost upwards of $500k on each vehicle sold

Wed, 08 Feb 2012

Daimler is shuttering Maybach in 2013 after seven years of production. In that time, the company's ultra-ultra-luxury arm managed to sell just 3,000 units, and CAR reports Daimler lost somewhere around $500,000 on each and every one of them.
Even with a ludicrous price tag of over $370,000 for an "entry" Maybach 57, the brand couldn't quite recoup the dizzying $1.33 billion Daimler poured into it since its (re)inception. Rumors ignited over a possible tie up with Aston Martin that would have resulted in a range of new and attractive models, but Daimler has instead decided to snuff out Maybach altogether.
We can hardly blame them.
