I only drive it in the summer since I have a truck, kids and a mastiff, but it does not work for me anymore. There is a crack in front bottom spoiler as shown in photos where i hit a high curb, there is also a small crack in windshield (approx 2"), Has "check engine " light on. Diagnosis from advance auto indicate possible defective oxygen sensor or maybe loose gas cap. new brakes last summer. I also believe it has a blown fuse for the 6 CD changer. I will welcome any mechanic inspection. Please email any questions."

This vehicle is in pretty good condition.  I usually drive it in the summer because I also have a truck, but i haven't driven it this summer (only started it up and rode it around the neighborhood just to keep it moving).  There is a crack in the right front bottom spoiler ( i pulled up to close to the curb).  There is a crack in the windshield about 2 inches long. I jump started it a little while ago and believe i blew the fuse for the 6 CD changer.  The check engine light is on:  I had it diagnosed diagnosed by advanced auto and the cause can range from a loose gas cap to the oxygen sensor in the mechanics opinion according to the analyzer. The price for the sensor thru mercedes is about $400, and less outside of the dealership.  Brakes are slightly rusty from being outside and not driven a lot, but they were replaced new last summer. new rear tires were also added last summer.  Car runs well but could probably use a tune up because it has not been consistently driven.  Vehicle will need Maryland inspection.  I welcome your mechanics inspection, Please email with any questions. I am willing to work out a simple payment plan with anyone that wants to pay the full price only!  Thanks for looking!

13-year-old boy swipes dad's Mercedes, drives across Europe

Wed, 16 Jan 2013

After an argument with his adoptive parents that resulted in them taking away his mobile phone, an angry 13-year-old boy ran away from his home in Italy and headed straight to Poland to meet his biological sister. But instead of taking the train or hitching a ride, like most on the run, the young man (an accomplished go-kart racer and car enthusiast) grabbed the keys to his father's Mercedes-Benz and jumped behind the wheel for an impromptu road trip.
With less than 200 euros (about $270) in his wallet and a passport in his pocket, the youngster managed to put more than 500 miles between himself and his distraught parents, crossing two international borders in the process, before German police nabbed him just shy of the Polish border. According to reports, the vehicle was tracked - it wasn't his driving that alerted authorities to his location.
Reunited with his mother and father, who traveled to Germany to retrieve both their son and the vehicle, the young man apologized and acknowledged his error. As a result of his actions, social workers will increase checks on the family and we can be sure his parents are now hiding the keys.

AMG-powered Aston Martins still years away

Mon, 16 Sep 2013

After flirting for several years, Mercedes-Benz and Aston Martin have finally tied the knot. Just don't expect to see any offspring to result from the union for at least three or four years.
This according to Auto Express, which spoke with Daimler chief Dr. Dieter Zetsche at the Frankfurt Motor Show last week. AE reports that a new range of AMG-developed turbocharged V8s, transmissions and electrical components will make their way into the successors to the current V8 Vantage and DB9, but that these models are still a few years off.
Purists might balk at the thought of a Mercedes-powered Aston holding true to the brand's heritage. But while David Brown (for whom the DB range is named) may have steered clear of shoehorning in Detroit muscle into his cars, the entirety of the company's current range is powered by engines borrowing technology from Ford, and that arrangement seems to have worked well for Aston until now. And if you're still skeptical, look no further than Pagani and its AMG-sourced engines and you should have all the proof you need that the new relationship between Daimler and Aston could be a success.

Brabus 800 Roadster is a power-mad aristocrat

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

If we're being completely honest, we haven't exactly been in love with the aesthetics of the sixth-generation Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. It's mostly a front-end issue, with its glowering eagle-eye headlamps and upright, dinner-plate-sized Three-Pointed Star coming across to us as overwrought. That's particularly troublesome for a roadster whose history has of the most elegant designs of all time in its back catalog. Somehow, the new R231 generation's brash visuals seem more at home on this Brabus 800 Roadster to us.
That's probably because the high-dollar German tuner has turned up the wick on the SL's visuals even further, with carbon fiber bodywork, a more aggressive aero kit, matte hood scoop and complex two-finish wheels. It's all-the-way committed to its brashness, in other words - and justifiably so. Anything with 800 horsepower and 1,047 pound-feet of torque has earned the right to look however it wants, right?
Brabus started with the SL65 and its not-exactly-underpowered 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12, and went to town, fitting their own turbocharger and intercooler system, along with a less-restrictive exhaust system with driver-selectable sound levels and new engine electronics. The result is a 3.7-second 0-62 mph time, an electronically limited top whack of 217 mph... and one seriously compromised toupée.
