For sale: 1968 Mercury Cougar with the Dan Gurney Package which consists of a 302 V8 230HP engine with 4 bbl carb. The restoration was started before 1993, I purchased the car spring of 2010. The car has 61,940 actual miles & is a #'s matching car with a V8 302, Merc-o-matic transmission, Air condition, Power steering, Power brakes. The Cougar was in storage for a while so the gas tank & all lines were replaced as well as the complete brake system & cooling system. The car is all original except for the new parts listed below, I don't believe the intake or heads have ever been removed, and the car runs & shifts like new. The inside has original head liner, seats (except the fronts which have been covered with correct covers) door panels, dash, carpet, seat belts are lap & shoulder both sides. The outside is just immaculate, went to first car show 7-12-14 & won top 20 trophy, had lots of positive comments about the paint & where can they get a paint job like that. I have a 12 minute video of the car that I can email if interested, plus my grandson is making one for utube, I am sure it will be better than mine. I possibly can help in getting the car (within reason) to a terminal for shipping. I will work with the buyer. It also has the original sequential tail lights that works fine as well as the flip up head lights.
LIST OF NEW PARTS INSTALLED: Front disc brakes, rotors, calipers, all brake lines, rear drums, brake shoes, wheel cylinders, brake booster, master cylinder, front wheel bearings, upper & lower ball joints, tie rods, center link, sway bar bushings, Michelin radial tires, Rage wheels, spare tire rim painted to match, radiator & all hoses, battery, heater core, ac dryer, fuel tank & all gas lines, front shocks & rear air shocks, exhaust from H pipe back,speedometer cable,distributor cap. Motor & tranny pulled to detail engine compartment & paint engine, while tranny was out it was taken to shop for all new seals & end bearing, door handles, front & rear fender lip chrome strips, factory front seats covered, rear seat original also new trunk mat. The frame was cleaned & undercoated (as per previous owner) and the body was exceptionally solid and needed only two small holes patch welded & fixed.The car was sanded epoxy primed, sealed, painted with three coats of Fairway green metallic & six coats of clear than sanded & buffed to a mirror like deep shine. The car inside & out is just outstanding as the pictures show. Its very hard to find a solid car that is 46 years old and needed very little body work. Inside of the fender lips are solid with no repairs as well as the bottom of the doors. This is a #'s matching car with factory AC, PS, PB,AM radio, & Auto transmission with the original carpet. I looked up the prices 7-01-2014 in NADA Guides.com & found low retail is $13,992, average retail $26,390 & high retail is $47,995. If you read the description for high retail it fits the car to a T. Ford recalls Five Hundred, Mercury Montego sedans over fuel tank woes
Mon, 18 Jul 2011Ford has announced through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is recalling nearly 3,000 examples of its Five Hundred and Mercury Montego (pictured) sedans from the 2007 model year.
The action, which affects 2,945 vehicles, is due to potentially defective welds between the filler neck and the fuel tank, a condition that could result in a fuel leak or the smell of gasoline reaching the occupants. In the worst-case scenario, a leak could cause a fire. Cars with the affected fuel tank problem could see an illuminated dashboard warning light as a result of the evaporative emissions leak being detected.
Ford will inspect and replace the fuel tank at no cost to owners (those who have already had the procedure done at-cost can apply for reimbursement), and the Dearborn automaker will begin notifying Five Hundred and Montego owners beginning August 15. NHTSA will investigate some Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ models for power steering issue
Tue, 07 Oct 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an investigation into the 2010-2012 Ford Fusion, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ, the 2012 MKZ Hybrid and 2011 Mercury Milan because the agency has hundreds of complaints of electric power steering failure in these models.
According to NHTSA's data, it has received 508 complaints of the power steering allegedly suddenly malfunctioning and resulting in increased effort to turn the wheel. In four incidents, these failures resulted in loss of control and crashes. According to the reports, in some cases a power steering warning message came on as the fault occurred, and other times the system restored itself by turning off and then restarting the vehicle. NHTSA said it has also received further field report data from Ford, but that information hasn't been publicly released yet.
For the moment, there isn't a recall for this failure on these models. NHTSA is just investigating them to "assess the scope, frequency and safety consequences of the alleged defect," and the agency says an estimated 938,000 vehicles could potentially be affected.
NHTSA probing 2000-2003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable models over throttle issue
Mon, 29 Oct 2012A potential issue with the speed control cable collar has got the 2003-20003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable under the spotlight of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If the collar breaks it can cause the throttle to be stuck open.
The issue is limited to vehicles with the 3.0-liter V6 Duratec. There are just 50 complaints so far out of 310,000 cars, but the NHTSA has begun an investigation into whether a recall should be issued.
