1969 Mercury Cougar Convertible on 2040-cars
Raymore, Missouri, United States
Thank you for looking at my 1969 Mercury Cougar convertible. The car has all original sheet metal and as near rust free of a 60's car as I've ever had. The car was always a Southern car and was originally Wimbledon White. The underneath is still the factory white (see the pictures). At some point, many years ago, the Cougar was painted red. The exterior had a few very small areas of the beginning of rust and you can see where the body shop cut it out the small areas. The car comes mostly complete and with new parts (see the pictures). The front and rear bumpers are included. Some of the original engine parts and all the glass is included as well. The Cougar is an original 351 V8 Four Barrel car. The Cougar DOES NOT need floor pans nor a trunk pan nor shock towers (see pictures). They are almost as solid and original as they were in 1969!
I purchased the car in Mississippi at a body shop after the customer didn't pay for the start of the restoration. There's no motor and trans. The machine shop kept them both for an unpaid bill as well. The owner of the body shop sold me the Cougar with the intention of filing for a lien title in the state of Mississippi, but I never received a title as promised. In Missouri we can file for an Abandonment Title, but I haven't gotten around to doing so. My loss is your gain. I have no time to complete the present projects I started years ago. It'll take me years just to even complete the projects I have already started. Please email and or call with any questions. Thank you, Chris 816.590.7660 |

NHTSA investigating 725k Ford, Mercury vehicles for stalling issue
Mon, 25 Feb 2013Owners of Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner, Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan models, listen up. According to a report on Automotive News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into these four vehicles totaling an estimated 725,000 units. The investigation appears to center around a malfunctioning throttle body on non-hybrid models of the 2005-2012 Escape and 2011-2012 Fusion. With Mercury dying off after the 2011 model year, this probe will also apply to the 2005 through 2011 Mariner and the 2011 Milan. There has been some discussion around the Escape stalling issue for some time now, but this investigation appears to be larger in scope than before.
Though not a recall yet, NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 123 complaints of stalling or surging vehicles, while Ford itself has logged 1,472 complaints. The investigation report, which is posted below, seems to indicate that a faulty circuit board for the throttle body could cause the vehicle to go into limp mode, which, according to NHTSA, could cause complaints of both stalling and surging.
Ford announces bevy of recalls, 2 of which are recalls on recalls
Tue, 04 Nov 2014
Ford has announced five separate recalls, affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
It's not been a great couple of weeks for Ford. On October 30, the company announced a 205,000-unit recall, and yesterday, it was revealed that the Ford brand's year-over-year sales were down over 5,000 units while the company itself was down 3,000 units over through October. Now, the company has announced five separate recalls affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
Jill Wagner retired as Mercury spokeswoman
Wed, 17 Nov 2010Jill Wagner has officially given up her crown as the queen of Mercury. With the Ford middle child on its way to the scrap heap, Wagner no longer has any automotive hardware to promote. Given her varied talents, we wouldn't be surprised to see her pick up where she left off with another automaker.
And here you thought you'd never be upset about Mercury's passing.
Thanks for the tip, Gregg!
