1969 MERCURY COUGAR XR7, S CODE 390 BIG BLOCK. This Cougar XR7 is loaded with a 390, 4v carburator, A/T, P/B, P/S, Black exterior, Black leather seats, Black vinyl top and hide away head lights. Have the Marti Report. The Cougar was setting for a long time in a carport. The Cougar will need a paint job, front and rear bumpers rechromed, brake booster. There is a power steering leak. The driver side window needs to be reglued. All glass looks good. The left rear quarter has a small dent in it. This factory S Code Couger with the 390 engine runs strong. The Cougar is very clean and rust free. Fix a couple of things and start driving a BIG BLOCK car or restore the Cougar. Look at the pictures. Selling the car AS IS with no warranty. Jill Wagner retired as Mercury spokeswoman
Wed, 17 Nov 2010Jill Wagner has officially given up her crown as the queen of Mercury. With the Ford middle child on its way to the scrap heap, Wagner no longer has any automotive hardware to promote. Given her varied talents, we wouldn't be surprised to see her pick up where she left off with another automaker.
And here you thought you'd never be upset about Mercury's passing.

Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line
Wed, 05 Jan 2011The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercury model has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas' days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, the Panther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.

NHTSA probing 2000-2003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable models over throttle issue
Mon, 29 Oct 2012A potential issue with the speed control cable collar has got the 2003-20003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable under the spotlight of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If the collar breaks it can cause the throttle to be stuck open.
The issue is limited to vehicles with the 3.0-liter V6 Duratec. There are just 50 complaints so far out of 310,000 cars, but the NHTSA has begun an investigation into whether a recall should be issued.
