I'm selling my 2008 Mercury Milan, which is essentially a little higher end Ford Fusion. It is a great car. I am the 2nd owner and I purchased with 24,000 miles on it. It now has 158,000 miles (all highway) on it, but looks and drives like it has 50,000 miles on it. The only reason I'm selling it is that a great deal fell in our lap and now we have too many vehicles in the garage.

I am a technology salesperson so I put on about 35,000 miles per year but take great care of my vehicles. There is absolutely nothing mechanically wrong with the vehicle. The only cosmetic issues are a small chip in the windshield that is smaller than 1/4" and somebody bumped my driver's fender in a parking lot. Quotes to get the fender fixed have ranged between $500-$700, but you really don't even notice it at a glance. I put new brakes (rotors & pads) on it less than 4,000 miles ago and the tires are Pirelli 60,000 mile tires with about 10,000 miles on them, so 50,000 of tread left. The only other issue I've had is that the cable behind the driver's interior door handle broke about 3 months ago and I got it fixed immediately (that's obviously not a mechanical issue). The only other things I've had to do to the car is brakes, tires, a battery, and regular oil changes (I have the receipts for those). For reference, my last two cars went 274,000 and 312,000 miles before I gave them away (although they still ran well and looked great).

Options/Highlights:
V6 3.0 Liter
6 speed automatic
Premium alloy wheels (17")
Premium sound system w/6 CD changer, MP3, and plug-in for phone/MP3 player
Power moonroof
Leather interior
Power seats
Heated seats & heated mirrors
All the usual crap in modern cars: air bags, power locks, power windows, power brakes, cruise control, ultra bright halogen lights, automatic headlights, auto-dimming mirror, etc.

Car starts and runs great. Rides very smooth. It has plenty of legroom, as I'm 6'3" and have no issues. Handles great in the winter. Average retail is approximately $9,500. This is a perfect budget car or something safe and reliable for a student.

Jill Wagner retired as Mercury spokeswoman

Wed, 17 Nov 2010

Jill Wagner has officially given up her crown as the queen of Mercury. With the Ford middle child on its way to the scrap heap, Wagner no longer has any automotive hardware to promote. Given her varied talents, we wouldn't be surprised to see her pick up where she left off with another automaker.
And here you thought you'd never be upset about Mercury's passing.
Thanks for the tip, Gregg!

Report: Last Mercury for retail business built on Sunday

Mon, 04 Oct 2010

Ford is already well into winding down its Mercury line, and the autoamker has announced that the very last of the soon-to-be dead brand's products built for retail sales was manufactured on Sunday, October 3. The final Mercury Mariner rolled off of the assembly line at the company's Kansas City facility, putting an end to a brand with over 70 years of history behind it.
Even after the Mariner heads off into the automotive sunset, Ford says that it will continue to manufacture a handful of Mercury models for fleet and government service for a while longer, though mum's the word on how long we can expect that practice to continue.
Interestingly enough, according to USA Today, most incentives on Mercury vehicles have all but dried up, even as the brand's August production increased by 120 percent compared to July's figures. Instead of cash on the hood, some areas are offering no-cost maintenance or similar programs. Even so, Mercury has continued to out-sell Lincoln right to the end - besting Ford's luxury arm's sales by nine percent in August.

NHTSA investigating 725k Ford, Mercury vehicles for stalling issue

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

Owners of Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner, Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan models, listen up. According to a report on Automotive News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into these four vehicles totaling an estimated 725,000 units. The investigation appears to center around a malfunctioning throttle body on non-hybrid models of the 2005-2012 Escape and 2011-2012 Fusion. With Mercury dying off after the 2011 model year, this probe will also apply to the 2005 through 2011 Mariner and the 2011 Milan. There has been some discussion around the Escape stalling issue for some time now, but this investigation appears to be larger in scope than before.
Though not a recall yet, NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 123 complaints of stalling or surging vehicles, while Ford itself has logged 1,472 complaints. The investigation report, which is posted below, seems to indicate that a faulty circuit board for the throttle body could cause the vehicle to go into limp mode, which, according to NHTSA, could cause complaints of both stalling and surging.
