1973 Mercury Montego 2 Door with 400 cubic inch 2 barrel. Automatic with A/C and power steering. Just put plugs and wires on it and it runs good. This would be a good daily driver or a candidate for restore. As you can see by the pictures, it will need the front seat recovered and a new headliner. It has rust thru behind each rear wheel that will need to be repaired but the rest of the car seems rust free. This was a repaint done sometime in the past that is now a 20 footer with scrapes and scratches and cracking bondo showing under the paint on the left rear quarter panel and a couple of dents to boot. The rear bumper has a couple of dents in it as well. Both stickers have just expired. I put some Freon 134 in it and it blows cold but comes out the floor vents so it would probably need the vacumn control valve behind the switch replaced. Obviously the wheels are not stock and I leave that up to you. It is good mechanically other than a weak power steering pump that makes some noise and turns slower than I remember them being, but needs interior and body work. Sold with no reserve. Ford recalling 370,000 Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Town Car models
Fri, 30 Aug 2013The Detroit News is reporting that Ford will recall some 370,000 Crown Victoria (pictured), Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car vehicles from model years 2005 through 2011, for an issue regarding the lower intermediate steering shaft. 355,000 of the vehicles in question were sold in the US, with the other 15,000 sold in Canada.
The report indicates that corrosion of the lower intermediate steering shaft could cause a "loss of steering," presumably because of a partial or complete failure of the part. The report points out the dealers will inspect and replace the offending steering component for recalled cars, and may also secure a lower steering column bearing and replace the upper intermediate steering shaft as needed. The company is unaware of any reports of the faulty part causing any accidents or injuries.
Ford helpfully lists states in which corrosion is more likely to have taken place, mostly in the Snow Belt, as you might guess. Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia are listed.
Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues
Wed, 28 Dec 2011'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.
