1997 Mercury Mountaineer Base Sport Utility 4-door 5.0l on 2040-cars

Year:1997 Mileage:123175
Location:

Orlando, Florida, United States

Orlando, Florida, United States

'97 Mercury Mountaineer, good condition for a reliable, strong vehicle with:

- Engine/transmission in excellent condition
- semi-new Bridgestone Dueler H/T tires
- clean interior
- working air condition with powerful burst of cold air (a necessity in Florida!)
- trailer hitch installed with wiring
- comfortable leather seating in good condition
- non-smoking car with no disgusting residue or smell
- removable leather cover for trunk space installed and designed specifically for model
- shares many of the exact same parts as the Ford Explorer making any replacement items easy to find and affordable
- do not own a dog so the car is free from any stray animal hair and smell

The car is quite powerful, runs great, and features lots of space with good window visibility and installed deflectors. Tinted windows for comfortable rides even in very bright days. Very good for both local stops and long, road trips. Makes for a great outdoor vehicle but it is also big enough to handle families, pets, and very large grocery runs!

The car is in above average shape for its age but it does have some minor scratches and wear-and-tear. Additionally, it does need a new radio, the front, right passenger side window no longer works, the O2 sensor needs replacing, and there's a coolant leak but it's not a serious repair; otherwise the car is in good shape.

I have owned the car for two years with no major issues, no accidents, and it has been well maintained. The original owner was a retiree from the Department of Defense who kept the car in excellent condition until he passed away and it was sold to me. It has served me very well and am only selling the vehicle due to the acceptance of a travel job cross-country which negates any present necessity for me to own a vehicle.

Local pickup only and am requesting that it is picked up by June 4th at the latest due to my job schedule. If you have any questions, my number is 407-545-2056 or you can email me.  If you'd like to see and test the vehicle out, please call me and we can schedule a time.

Curtain officially comes down on Mercury as dealers remove signage

Mon, 03 Jan 2011

The process of shutting down the Mercury is complete. Ford officially made the decision to close its mid-level brand in June of 2010. In the months that followed, Ford offered its dealers money to stop selling the cars, with production shutting down in September. The last Mercury, a Mariner, rolled off the assembly line in the beginning of October and former spokesperson Jill Wagner said her good-byes to both the car and her job. Now the last piece of the brand has come down as dealers are removing any and all Mercury signage from their lots.

NHTSA and Ford investigating steering issues in Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Marauder

Fri, 11 Jul 2014

There may be more steering woes for the Ford Crown Victoria. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary evaluation into the Crown Vic and Mercury Grand Marquis from the 2004 to 2007 model years and the Mercury Marauder for the 2004 and 2005 model years because the steering shaft can jam. The issue could potentially affect an estimated 500,000 vehicles.
According to the regulator, there is a possibility that the driver's side heat shield for the exhaust manifold can rust, dislodge, and then wedge into the steering shaft. If this occurs, it leads to a situation where the driver can no longer control the car.
NHTSA has received five complaints of this happening, including one alleged case with an injury. In that situation, the car was driving onto the highway, lost control and rolled over. One occupant was hurt in the accident.

Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues

Wed, 28 Dec 2011

'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.
